Well, I have been really surprised by the number of "wood-Be" ( see what I did there 😂) DIY, novice Basschat cab builders wishing to have-a-go at building their own bass cab. After due consideration, (closed eyes and used a pin) two successful builders have now safely recieved their Beyma SM212s. I look forward to seeing a story of their builds in the Build Diary section. Apologies to those who missed out on this ocassion. Happy building and take care not loose any fingers playing with those power tools 😮

Mesa Subway D800 Fender Rumble 800HD Both simple to use with either a rotary (Mesa) or push button tone shapes to dial in your vintage tone of choice. -

If anyone wishes to have a go at building one of @stevie and @Phil Starr excellent cabs designs on an entry level budget I have a couple of used ( but in great condition) Bayma SM212 drives FOC. These were used in the Mk1 & Mk2 cabs and are very fine drivers, pay the shipping and they are yours. PM me. I have enjoyed great fun following and building cabs that @stevie and @Phil Starr have freely shared to Basschaters.

Weekend Warriors. How Much For A Gig?
JohnDaBass replied to Chienmortbb's topic in General Discussion
My 60s/70s covers 5 piece band achieve £300 for pub gigs locally. So £60 per man. That's up from £40 per man before Covid. NY EVE we target £750 to £850. (double time + extra for travel) Really can't see any increase in the coming 12 months. -
Any pictures of all three?

Agreed, I can imagine that a short scale Saint Soap would probably sound a bit fatter than the long scale in the video. It also appears (to be confirmed) that the Soap bar pickup is in the 10ins from the 12th fret sweet spot for short scale basses. At those prices it would make a great platform to try a range of different pickups. Definitely on my radar. I did notice that in the OPs link the short scale is called Capri.

Oh dear, does that mean I need to purchase a B2 Four to join my 2 X B1Fours and my B6.🙄. I'm pleased to hear you're getting some use of my earlier patch. In all honesty do you agree that the sounds from the B2Four have an edge on the B1Four?

Do you happen to have a link to the website

OMG that is fabulous. Does he produce any short scale basses ?

Spector Legend 5 Classic in walnut burl £450 **On Hold** - *SOLD*

Well done, it looks fantastic. All you need now is to use a black Sharpie to imitate a crack in the pickguard from the 'E' side of the heel of the neck to the Pup and you have a perfect "vintage" '72 Tele Bass 😂

I must be living under some Welsh boulder as I never realised there was such a huge market for highly priced memorabilia tosh🤑. I mean to say that's it a completely different ball game compared to auctioning off Eric Clapton's "Blackie" Fender Strat for charity. In my limited experience I'm pleased with my US Fender Stu Hamm Urge 1 , Epiphone Rumblekat Alen Woody and Fender Mike Kerr Tiggar/Barbie Jag bass. All reasonably priced very nice, playable, unique basses. Clearly not memorabilia.

Great detective work, well done. Did the original have a Sidewinder Mudbucker or a later humbucker pickup?

I have to say it does look fantastic. I like the body thro bridge and the Pup in the sweet spot (10ins from the 12th fret). It will probably have a bit of neck dive with the strap located at the heel of the neck, it may have been better to fit the strap on the upper horn just like the Les Paul Jr Tribute DC. The Pup is the SG humbucker and not a Sidewinder Mudbucker like the original EBO. -

Looks as if Gibson are doing a Gene Simmons in the same way Fender did the Mike Kerr Tiggar/Barbie bass.🤣 https://www.gibson.com/en-US/Electric-Bass/Gene-Simmons-Bass-EB/Ebony?sc_src=email_1190958&sc_lid=133982208&sc_uid=OOyVKBC9MJ&sc_llid=130602&sc_customer=c58dfdf9-85db-4dc2-ace1-8e54b0ffd644&utm_source=Emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=9.19.23%3A+Gene+Simmons+EB-0+Bass+Launch Gibson | Gene Simmons EB-0 Bass Ebony Crazy price !!!!!! -

I highly recommend the Rumble 800 combo. It’s light powerful and can easily keep up with a couple of guitars and noisy drummer. It's my current goto amp at present from my other Mesa D800, Rumble 800HD , Rumble 500 head, Barefaced SC and BC 1x12 Mk3 Silvertone cabs. PS I agree the 800 Stage has far too much stuff , the simpler 800 Comb is just right with the pedals of your .choice

Interesting. Eminence has a huge facility in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, where they manufacture OEM speaker cabs, combos and chassis speakers LF and HF. I'm not sure but I it maybe some form joint venture with one of the big contract manufacturers. The article refers to only 90 members employed by Eminence which suggests that the Chinese operations are out sourced to a subsidiary joint venture. Ampeg and Fender source cabs and combos from the Eminence Guandong facility. It would be interesting to learn what competitive advantage B& C gain from the acquisition? Could they use lthe leverage of the Guangdong facility for B& C products, its economy of scale for component cost savings or do they merge their technical knowhow with the Eminence volume knowhow to build market share and presence?
