I noticed the controls as well. "Modded" with dual concentrics, like the first jazzes in 60-62.

Looks a bit of a franken-Fender-alike... The custom shop decals are well out of place. I'd give this one a miss IMO

Howabout one of the Ashdown Superfly cabs? They do compact 1 x 15 and 4 x 8 cabs.

It may not be your amp as such. The Converge bass player uses an active Stingray, so it might be cheaper to stick an active circuit, or a better pickup in your OLP.
