1. I believe the Church also lay claim to 'Numbers' back yonder - Hymns were numbered [still are] Passengers yelling 'Number xx' at William Hartley has a nice 100 year urban Myth touch though. Garry
 2.
I hate people that call songs "numbers" like for example... "they played Stray Cats numbers..." I mean wtf?
Comes from days gone by. IE - On the Titanic gig, the band had to learn around 300 songs. The songs were listed and numbered in a pamphlet given to the passengers. The band played in various rooms around the ship all day long. Passengers would choose a song from the pamphlet, walk up and shout out the number to the Band leader, who shouted the 'Number' to the band. True that.................... Although Joe public and TV presenters would not have a fecking clue were it came from. Very much like me - who has just heard it on a TV programme about the 'Titanic' Musicians playing on board ship, Garry
 3. What DAW are you using ? Out of interest, why are using ASIO4all drivers ? Does the unit not come with it's own ASIO drivers ? What do you mean by nothing happens ? Gives us all bit more info and i am sure someone might be able to help. Garry
 4.
Anything really - so long as it's not accordion or bagpipes.
Along with Incest and Morris Dancing. Garry
 5. Trombone - Piano - Bass. Picked up Guitar along the way. The Bone has only recently appeared from the case after about 20 years. My seven year old son has started farting around with it, although he thinks of it as some kind of futuristic weapon and will take out some ones eye soon with the slide. [Not unlike me really] Garry
 6.
Maybe if you did bash one out on your BIG ORGAN he wouldn't ask again...
But of course that might be the cue for his wife to start asking... 'Are you going to bash one out on your BIG ORGAN - again...? please ' Garry
 7.
Also, the awful diminishment of prefixing the name of the instrument with 'the', usually said by non-musicians. For example 'Ah! So you play the piano!'
You might want to meet my annoying neighbour, who points to our baby grand and always comments bang on cue...... 'What about banging out something on THE big Organ of yours' He laughs his stupid ugly head off, and his lovely charming wife dies of embarrassment. Garry
 8.
dont know how to put vidoes on, but the theme from the paradise club,tv series with dirty den, not the film was a quite good with the music themes,
If you have the link - just copy and paste into your text box. Would love to hear it, i can't find it anywhere on Youtube. Garry

 10.
A little bit harsh don't you think? This thread is no more pointless than 'wealthiest bassists' or the one on growing chilis. It's merely a musical conversation piece. Dan
Sorry Dan, i was not being harsh or trying to offend. Dudes & Cats, that's all. Garry
 11. Hey dude - you and the cat on six strings need to get a life. Garry
 12.
One that I cannot find but you may remember is the theme from the Paradise Club ( I seem to remember it being Snake Davis-lead)
Was that the one with Dirty Den as some kind of crook ? I can't remember the theme tune though. Having an American TV themes moment [not for the Bass lines particularly] and there are loads. Two Classics. Mike post [Larry Carlton gtr] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a5u-X9XTCw Bob James http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuPZ4NaRiv4 Garry Garry
 13.
This one springs to mind The Bill was a good one for introducing odd time sigs to the general public- a memorable bass line albeit purely functional.
I was going to mention that one - but then i could not be arsed with the slap Police hunting me down on an Easter Sunday. The Bill line is good [7/4], written by the very fine Mr Andy Pask and great Drummer Charlie Morgan. Garry
 14.
Grange Hill(chickenman)-Herbie Flowers Pink Panther-Herbie Flowers
Herbie Flowers was a big favourite with the great Henri Mancini [along with many others of course] Garry
 15.
Oh God, I used to watch this back in the day. Don't waste your life watching TV kids, it's all over very quickly.
That's great that theme, perfect corn... I like the way the kick drum has a different idea of what the triplet is from the rest of the band Garry
 16. To many really, but do like this two. Clever little line - Mo Foster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y5E63jGT2I This little gem. [Bass player ?] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hQldclTLwM&feature=related Garry
 17. Good stuff Nick... Thumbs up. [or is that thumbs up and down] Garry
 18.
I'd love to hear some more bop-influenced funk along the lines of Jean Pierre - his jams with Dario Deidda on YouTube show him in a different light to the usual.
I agree.................... Funny enough not so long ago i stumbled upon Marcus with Miles from the 80's at Hammersmith. 19.
Sounds like good fun if you ask me!
And more. There are people who moan, but deep down they enjoy. Some folk are just made for moaning. Garry
 20. I have played at a few of his Birthday parties, and he was a real top bloke. R.I.P, man of volume. Garry
 21. I have done plenty over the years - From the West End to Tokyo and in between. A lot of the time you could just be using headphones and no amp, playing to clicks [from a couple a show to nearly the whole show] Plenty of sight reading, but you can get a good run of rehearsals before preview night. Like Doddy says, depping is down to the MD and fixers views on this. But it is usually ok and you would have a small pool of deps [MD/fixer approved] Money is good and depending on the length of run will include holiday pay every 13 weeks. Bigger shows have spin off's, like cast album CD's and DVD's to record [more money] So in short if you are a full time player they are great gigs money wise. You need to be all ears & eyes, and have good discipline and concentration levels. It can become a bit of a bore, so its good to dep out for other gigs when you get the chance [and most do] Garry
 22. Thanks for that Dood - My wife will be happy, It means i will stop boiling all the Vinegar away. Garry
 23. 3/4 was THE common time when folks donned top hats & tails. The Vienna [Viennese] Waltz is a pop tune, maybe an old one, but very much a pop tune of the time. Also with a Bass drum to help you keep time Garry
 24.
What does "I know that I must do what's right, sure as Kilamanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti" mean? Given that you can't see Kilamanjaro from the Serengeti, is he not sure that he must do what's right?
Always found that interesting, it has been talked about for many years that one. Not sure what he meant. Bit of a discussion here. http://www.fodors.co...e-serengeti.cfm Garry
 25.
Andrew Gold: Lonely Boy, from What's Wrong With This Picture? if I recall correctly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCOS2vOxuXE
What a great writer Andrew Gold was, and a terrific tune.
