  1. NOW SOLD Pair of DiMarzio Telecaster pups: Chopper T Bridge Humbucker DP384BK Twang King Neck pickup DP127C They came out of a 2016 Tele that had been modded, and it looks like the Chopper T is dated 02/17. Both fully working and in good nick, the neck pickup has a bit of tarnish on the chrome, I havn't tried any chrome cleaner on it though. I've done a pic to show that. As fitted to Fender's Richie Kotzen signature model (they got the model number of the Twang King wrong on the Fender page, it is as above and the on their page is wrongly for the bridge version), which means plenty of reviews out there on the internet. A bit different to the standard Tele pups, a coil tap is a good move for the bridge one - I've got used 250k and 500k push/pull pots and can throw one in for doing the coil tap. I wasn't planning on advertising them on here, then I saw the "show use your geetars" topic and it seems the guitar of choice for bass players is a Tele! Price includes UK Postage
  2. I'd get one if I could blend the placebo signal with my dry signal.
  3. I think one of the reasons I liked it was that they seemed, nowadays at least, a bit more down to earth than some bands. This is maybe linked to the fact that I don't get on very well with the idea that being a "star" excuses being a to55er, which means there are quite a few musicians who I couldn't listen to for more than 10 seconds in a documentary. I'll keep things positive and not get into listing them
  4. I must admit, I havn't checked out anything they've done since the apltly named Afterburner, I'll have to have a listen.
  5. I've had TI flats on two different 35" scale basses with top loading bridges, both fine but the maruszczyk with the zero fret needed the silks cutting back slightly to fit into the nut - fine to the zero fret though. Had D'addario NYXL on as well, no problem.
  6. The subject says it all really, there's a ZZ Top doc on Netflix, "ZZ Top: That Little 'Ol Band From Texas". Nothing very controversial, nice easy watch but a lot of it is Frank, Dusty and Billy and it starts right at, or really before, the beginning. I really liked it, but then I've always liked the band.
  7. I went for the Hyper Luminal and found it really easy to dial in, and it does feel like having a choice of three compressors. I havn't tried plugging it in via USB to see what can be tweaked yet, no need for me but that also might be a plus for some people.

  9. Now Sold Delano PMVC 5 FE/M2 split coil / P bass pickup. There are plenty of details on the Delano site and plenty of reviews out there. I'm no expert on describing how pickups sound but they are often described as "clear" or "transparent" which I would go along with - that's what I was after when I specced the bass with them in, and it worked. The "15.50" marked on the back is the distance between the pole piece centres. They will be slightly closer together than standard as the pickup came off a bass with 17mm spacing at the bridge (although I replaced it with a standard spacing pickup and it's fine). In good nick, there's a little bit of wear to the writing as in the pics, they were new in late 2017. I had them in a Maruszczyk with the Delano MC5 FE humbucker at the bridge which sounded great but the two pickups sounded too similar for what I wanted. I kept the Delano bridge pickup and swapped the split coil neck pickup for quite a different one, a Nordstrand NP5, which gave me two different tones in the same bass. I could easily have done the opposite. Price includes UK Postage.
  10. New set of 767-6F Flats for Bass VI, plus an extra high E string (026). I had a set like this on an Ibanez SRC6 (although technically they're not meant for through body and the low E is a bit of a tight fit) and they sounded amazing, pretty much like a full sacle bass on the low strings and still sang on the high ones. Price includes UK Postage. Now Sold
  11. Stingray 5HH Stealth Black. I love how even the pickup pole pieces are black. Should have black tape woulds on it really
  12. I've still got a thing for Scary Monsters, maybe because Ashes to Ashes was my first "proper" single purchase. Manu Chau circa Proxima Estacion - Esperanza would be on "too interesting to be mainstream" world fusion list for me as well.
  13. Wow, not cheap! You could do the same thing with just a load box / attenuator if you've got a mic, or get a load box and an SM57. Or if your head has DI, just an attenuator and then use a software cab sim the other side of the focusrite, there are loads about.
  14. As far as the genius sub-thread goes, I will just leave the name Hendrix here and see what happens. Personally I think Bowie was a genius as an artist more than as a musician, but I'm sure lots of people won't share that opinion.
  15. Primal Scream have had highs and lows, but I would rate Screamadelica and Vanishing Point very highly. I didn't know they were all that highly rated though? Thinking back, maybe I missed the hype when Screamdelica came out though, I only really got into them in the mid-late 90s.
  16. That would have been right up my street back in the day. Anyway, back to the music stuff (havn't climbed in years anyway, it got so it took over a bit and I wasn't doing much else). Track was really really good BTW, but I confess I also leant towards the chilled out stuff based on the photo.
  17. Could be one of two then, on/on/on or on/off/on. Probably on/on/on, but if you're planning to replace it then the easiest way to find out would be to take it out and test it - have you got, or can you borrow a multimeter (or just a test bulb, just check what's connected to what)?
  18. I'll remember that one... the pic is taken from a car, and I listen to Metal in my car, so I wrote a Metal track... 😜 Edit PS (and OT): Looks like a nice crag though, what grade's the route?
  19. Transglobal Underground popped up on someone's top 10 all time list on another thread recently. Great band, lots of people I know rated them in the 90s but most people hadn't heard of them.
  20. I had all those "If you like X you will like Y" algorithms trying to tell me I liked The Strokes at one point, probably when I was listening to The Hives a lot. I tried The Strokes more than once and was deeply unimpressed. Totally agree about Stone Roses as well. I would add Pearl Jam to the overrated list, I like a lot of "similar" stuff (including Temple of the Dog) but could never see what the fuss was about with them. Underrated I'm not so good at, every time I think I've discovered a band it turns out everyone's heard of them. I need to get out more.... oh.
  21. It was free, maybe because I bought 3 T shirts and a Hoodie? Was needing some new ones anyway and a couple of the Ts were 10 euros.
