  1. I worked in a music shop in early 90s. It was a very versatile shop, and on the shop floor we had the biggest tuba bass I ever saw. I dared every friend that came in to have a go. I went to the guitarguitar shop to buy an amp. I took my own bass with me and started playing bulls on parade intro RATM. When I stopped playing, the shop assistant walked passed and continued mimicking the whammy guitar riff with his voice with perfect timing.
  2. We played an indoor gig , about four different bands back in the days. It was pure heavy metal in the late 80s. Some drunk punters got in the venue, and began asking for folk music. Our singer said that we don't know any but the next band, headliner would play some.
  3. I have suffered with this issue for 4 years. Constant buzz, humming. I've tried hum canceling pedals, shielded my guitars , watched endless you tube videos with no results. I thought it was the electric circuit in house hold. Last year I bought a new gaming laptop, problem solved. It went from an irritating hum and buzz to a complete silence the moment I set up the new laptop. Occasionally I get the odd natural feedback or hum, which can be solved by turning away from the amp etc. The high gain can be solved with a noise gate ( within the VST). As for the bass, it's dead silent when not played. I achieved brilliant result recording a bass through XLR from bass amp into a di box, in this case the first Hartke version then into focusrite 2i2. Or just DI into focusrite. Hope this helps
  4. Always Look on the Bright Side of Life- MP
  5. Top genre is metal and variety of music , anything but Oasis
  6. Drum Kit
  7. I am predominantly a metal fan, but growing up in 80' s when the pop was booming Tears for Fears is one of the many other bands I don't mind. The structural layout of the instruments and vocals in their songs is fenomenal. You can clearly hear various dimensions of the mix. Just listen to woman in chains on headphones. That fretless bass is mind-blowing.
  8. Thanks for BC for finding my dream bass and improving mixing my songs.
  9. Anything after the black album, maybe Load and re load .I don't even know the songs or titles of any albums after reload. Well I know at anger is out but that's about as much I know. Never ever listened to any songs on post reload albums.
  10. Any good for metal?
  11. Exactly, mine is a heel embedded nut too. I tried over a period of three weeks then gave up. Only a 1/4 turn at time. Doesn't bother me though as it sounds like 50s bass.
  12. Temperature, transport, humidity all have an impact on truss rod. If it settles in your home, it may take days after you put new strings in to get to the desirable shape. I was given a jazz bass that sat in the loft with flats on tense over 20 years. I could easily lent it to the archery Olympic team.
  13. A bass that you bond with the moment you pick it up. Comfortable neck, body. Nothing wrong with Fender. They say p bass sits in a mix well, I find jazz bass more versatile. As already mentioned , it's horses for courses.....but it needs to be good for metal.
  14. It's like getting a star for a 5 metre swim, so that five metre is not quite a 5 metre as you need to push yourself off then float before you stop. So you only actually swim 2 metres the most. Go ahead , plenty of emojis please to boost my watts. Thank you

  20. Ouch, I remember as a child falling on a rusty chain link fence. Minutes later my friend ask me what the string was I was pulling behind me for. It was blood gushing from my finger. I could see the bone. Cut through nerves, tendons and broken bone. Dint feel a thing until the surgeon shoved a needle there for as a local anaesthetic. The same day from A& E to the theatre. I was proud of the plaster cast though at school. I wish you a quick and safe recovery. Keep us posted.
  21. Haha , there are so many of these on YouTube. Even Trump sings metal
  22. Something to entertain me. 9 songs, like an album, but better.
  23. What's the G string sounds like?
  24. Although I've got some raw material for this month's challenge , I won't be participating. I spend an awful lot of time relaxing in the garden after work. But , look forward to voting
