1.
Hear hear ... some great tracks: Never Say Die Hard Road Air Dance and the best track on the album ... Over To You. Superb song.
Junior's Eyes and Johnny Blade make it for me. I think it's a great album, personally. Technical Ecstacy is class too, no doubt about it.
2.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but unfortunately yours, IMHO, is wrong ;-)) Mob Rules is unmistakeably Sabbath and 5star quality Sabbath at that. Plus, the expanded edition contains a live disc containing NIB which Dio does proper justice to! It's like saying everything Genesis did after Gabriel left was sh*te, which is complete bollocks.
Or Iron Maiden after Dennis Stratton, the Beatles after Pete Best, AC/DC after Mark Evans. Every band goes through... ahum... Changes, frequently for the best. To me, Faith No More lost a lof of their charm once Chuck Mosely was gone but seemingly most people consider the Patton-era (even that after Jim Martin left) to be the definative FNM. I don't get that but people are people. To ignore the post-Ozzy material is to wilfully turn your back on some truly amazing music and for what purpose?
3. The three Dio albums are top quality, Dehumanizer being my preferred one but owning all three of them should be compulsory by law. The album they did as Heaven and Hell is also definitely worth hearing. It's a grower. It has it's critics but Born Again is a belter, I think, if you can handle the very 80's production. Same goes for Seventh Star, there are some great songs but it's very definitely of its time. The Eternal Idol is a personal favourite, the title track in particular is probably the heaviest thing Iommi ever did. There's a deluxe version of it available now which has the Ray Gillen version for the second disc (essentially Tony Martin came in at the last minute and replaced Ray's takes) and Ray had one of the finest voices you'll ever hear. Headless Cross is ok, nothing spectacular but I know a lot of people who rave about it. The stretch from Tyr to Forbidden is the era I find hardest to get into. Forbidden is utter crap, strike that off the list right now. I would take the Iommi-Hughes albums first before that era of Sabbath. Fused is a rocking album, well worth checking out.
4. The DVD is included with the 25th anniversary edition of the Graceland CD, just watched it last week myself.
5. Maple is and always will be the classic Streamer, but there is no harm in changing it up every now and then to give the current generation of Streamers their own identity.
6. Well done, that's great news
7. Sweet. I used to have one just like that, it was a superb bass.
8.
http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649 Impulse buy.. now I just need the spandex leggings, cowboy boots and wig. Oh lordy...
I hope you're very, very tall
9. Agreed. The matching headstock is what makes it all work. A matching neck might be too Easter Bunny, though
10. Was it here or TB where some fella was complaining that shop shop had made sh*te of his wheel and chipped paint under it during a setup? It's easy to botch both designs in the wrong hand, but the point is this thing is pink and I like it!
11.
Exactly, none wheel of fortune truss rod adjusters should be banned IMO
They use them on the guitars, stick to allen bolts on the basses. Not arsed either way, personally, once it works
12.
Doesnt look big enough to me, Just looks like a pickguard off a different bass.
Trust me, it is There's a channel routed into the body which gives plenty of room to get the allen key in and make adjustments.
13.
the cut out for the none existent truss rod adjuster
Ehhhh... that's where you put the allen key to adjust the truss rod so you don't have to take the neck off.
14. Contact Ishibashi and give them the model number. I'm not sure if they're allowed ship new ones abroad though. http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/eng/howtoorder.html
15.
...and your signature!
Unfortunately I carry neither it nor my avatar with me in real life
16. I didn't even think of that... but I like it
17. Did you ever see a bass and, even though you shouldn't, you still want it? I could rock this, I really could
18. Copying the copiers? F-Hole Jazz basses are old news
19. 5mm is a lot. I cannot stand high action like that. I set mine up around 2mm at the 12th fret with very little relief in the neck.
20.
I usually stand on the Hihat side if I can
This
21. If you've got any old albums knocking around I'll buy one off you.
22. Yes. Yes it would. I notice, like the Olympic fascists, you don't value your own time. Were you to invoice yourself at an hourly rate for time spent trying to de-sow's ear the Bach - in addition to the extra £500 on parts - you'd probably be able to afford a Gibson T-Bird. Think of all those horrible little cars with mad wings and loud exhausts extra parts bolted on, do you want to play the bass version of that? Of course not. Just buy a good bass which comes with good parts already attached, you'll be happier in the long run.
23. I like that. Good tune, great bass tone. I'd love to hear it without the soundcloud distortion at some point. Good work, fella.
