  1. For those interested, there's this perfect device, called Keith McMillen Batt-o-Meter, which can test batteries inside an instrument or pedal, outside them and even self test itself, which means it was really well thought. Not very expensive and, to me, worth the price. You can get it for £24,4 GBP from Thomann (and others): https://www.thomann.co.uk/keith_mcmillen_batt_o_meter.htm Here is an old review:
  2. "a reliable and stylish instrument"... Well, urm, urm, maybe if you're an arrow shooter. 🤦🏻
  3. As you're not an authorised tech, there are very little chances that Epifani will send you a schematic, but if your tech is an authorised one, I mean someone who is doing it as it's official day job, he will get the schematic from Epifani as it's mandatory (even if Americans have a huge tendency to sit on this). So tell him to ask Epifani himself. 😉
  4. 9.6 to 9.8 Volts is the standard reading of a brand new quality (9 Volts) battery.
  5. You won't like my comment @la bam, so don't read it, even if the solutions are in there. Easiest way as it's what's your heading to with your vanity is stopping playing in any band. Sounds harsh, but your behaviour is exactly that: harsh and selfish... Wearing glasses is not an option, it's mandatory and concerning the distorted view with varifocal it's linked to the type of lenses, the cheapest one will give that effect and as you go up the range and price, there are excellent varifocal glasses that will allow you to read from left to right without any distortion or problem as well as from bottom to top : this is what they are really intended for and need a very tiny bit of time to get used to them IF you wear them all day long (took me exactly 1 second to get used to them and I only need glasses for close sight, but chose to have the perfect correction even for my very good far sight, which is now excellent). But, excellent varifocal glasses are expensive, around 2 to 3 k£... Think about it another way: I guess you're driving a car without glasses and not seeing anything at a remote to far distance, it's simply criminal and I hope you'll never get involved in an accident where it's proven that it's linked to your poor sight! Concerning the weight of instruments, you could play sitting, using a Dynarette (https://www.thomann.co.uk/hopf_dynarette_high.htm) as this accessory will relieve all the weight, or use a lighter instrument for ALL sets, your back will thank you. Now I'm certainly pissing against the wind as you seem to prefer the ostrich way than acting for the better ... and you know it. Sit on your vanity and see the positive of all the above and I hope you're not dying your hair too or wearing a head covering to hide your baldness... Told you you wouldn't like my comment.
  6. Sold to a very nice French fellow bassist I met this afternoon. 😊
  7. It all depends on the opamp used, some will still work with very low voltage...
  8. Your edition is a fake as "recherche" is feminine, the correct title must be "À la recherche du temps perdu". That said any Harry Potter book would have done the job perfectly, furthermore they are available in different thicknesses for perfect angling.
  9. My Le Fay has 4 single coil pickups under the hood in a more elegant way that said... And here is how it's working:
  10. I did it the Eich way, screwing strong magnets under the feet and metal washers on the cab to receive the head, works flawlessly.
  11. Try to keep as many fingers as you can... 😉
  12. Yamaha RBX 6JM John Myung Ruby Red from the 14th of September 1999, now fitted with a way better Glockenklang 3 bands preamp (the original Yamaha preamp will be delivered, but I have no idea if it's working) and a second John Myung signature on the body, which is clear coated, so unremovable! A Dream Theater fan must have bass, but for the others, it's an excellent very heavy bass (5.220 kilos) with a narrower strings spacing at the bridge (16.5 mm) and very very very slightly protruding frets (these 3 facts are well known for this early series alongside the fact that the center of the infinity inlay is at the ... 13th fret, go figure). NO TRADES! NON NEGOTIABLE PRICE! Asking price including fully insured shipping with tracking number, to your home, in these European countries (ask for other countries): Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France (excluding overseas territories), Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom: €750 EUR (£645 GBP is an approximation and I will only accept payment in Euros)!!! Shipping to the UK is of course possible and included in my asking price, but with additional customs charges (VAT + other taxes + courier costs), as the UK is now outside the EU, just ask. In perfect working order and in good to to very good condition, with the usual marks at the usual places, but almost no fret wear. Here are the specifications : Body: alder Top: figured maple veneer with a second John Myung signature under the clear coat, so unremovable Neck: bolt-on 3 pieces hard maple Fingerboard: ebony with infinity inlay (radius 23-5/8" or 600 mm) Positions: 24 medium frets with front infinity inlay and side white dots Headstock: 3+3 with John Myung signature Tuners: original Yamaha (Gotoh GB7) Pickups: 2 original Yamaha AlNiCo stacked humbuckers (very Jazz Bass sounding) Controls: volume (active/passive push-pull), blend, bass, mids, treble (tone control in passive mode) Preamp: Glockenklang 3 bands (the original Yamaha preamp will be delivered, but I have no idea if it's working) Bridge: original Yamaha solid brass Strings spacing at bridge: 16.5 mm Nut: bone (50mm width) Strings spacing at nut: 9 mm Knobs: original Yamaha (metal) Scale: 35 inches (889 mm) Hardware colour: gold with Schaller Strap-Locks buttons on the bass Truss rods: two, double action, 100% functional Finish: gloss Ruby Red Country of origin: Taiwan Serial number: PP14025 Year: 14/09/1999 (first generation of the RBX 6JM) Weight: 5.220 kg! Action : from 1.5 mm under the C string to 2.0 mm under the B string at 24th position (can even go lower, but was more than perfect for me and it's already super low with a very straight neck) and yes this is measured at the SECOND OCTAVE!!! Will be delivered in an used unknown brand semi-rigid gig bag (totally adapted to this bass). Non-smoking environment as usual. The bass has been fully set up professionally. It has received a new battery and is fitted with a set of used DR Black Beauties BKB6-30 round wound stainless steel coated strings (30 - 45 - 65 - 85 - 105 - 125), which really serve this bass. What you see is what you get ! Look carefully at the photos taken from different angles and lights to see the real condition, which is good to to very good with the usual marks at the usual places, but almost no fret wear. Here is the link to the 18 photos in high resolution: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Tm5VaOy3sxcU8nnu1CnheOU25VwSio0L?usp=drive_link Due to severe back problems (67% officially disabled because of it) plus left and right shoulders injury, without mentioning a painful tendonitis on the right arm, I'm selling all the basses I'm not using like this one. I've also considerably lowered the price for a quick sale. Don't hesitate to ask for more details, but, please, before asking read my ad first as the answer is certainly already in it! 13. It's missing one more pickup and some LEDs...
  14. @horrorshowbass, you could also try a set of Dogal Hellborg Perfect Pitch JH171 (6S) round wound nickel strings as they are made with only one wire wrapped around the core, so (almost) completely eliminating any intonation issue especially on the lower strings. Their tension is very low, think Thomastik, but your bass will thank you as well as your ears. BUT, they are very very very expensive. https://www.dogalstrings.it/en/perfect-pitch Worth reading their explanation. 😉
  15. Just as @Belka said raising the thickness of the string is absolutely not the solution, except if you only play an opened B and nothing else. The thicker the string, the worse the intonation is, so with a B string, never go thicker than 0.135 gauge. The clarity and definition (and more important intonation) can be improved by the string construction, not by its thickness, which will do the opposite. Guess why piano strings are exposed core for most of them, especially in low end part...
  16. Try a set of LaBella Super Stetps SS45-CB, exposed core strings, which is the same as a piano string. You won't find a better definition on all notes and a better intonation. They need a new setup because of their conception, but that's all. These strings are also made by Rotosound as PSD (Piano String Design), F-Bass (rebadged LaBella Super Steps), Galli with stainless steel (MSB) or nickel options (RSB), Fodera (Anthony Jackson set) and I think that's it. Don't mismatch the exposed core with tapered core...
  17. There's my former YC8 for sale in France here (with my photos and ad in English as Anthony kindly asked to use them): https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/annonce-2374016
  18. Hence the "Tony Franklin like" ...
  19. Try the GR Bass I mentioned, it's quite the same as the Eich, but simply better. That said a Hevos combo if you can find one is an amazing little thing and also on the light side, particularly the Midget 10 in 300 or 400 Watts version, I've never heard such a small combo sounding this good. But it's not cheap at all, Public Peace (Maruszczyk) still has some in stock: https://www.public-peace.de/hevos-midget10-combo.html
  20. I owned it, but ended up selling it, because I'm a BassChatter... GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon Cube 800 Combo coupled to a GR Bass AeroTech Full Carbon Cube 112+ cabinet. Super light and super powerful with excellent definition and almost neutral sounding.
  21. A Tony Franklin like Precision Bass would be a better description. It has what looks like an ebony fingerboard with a brass nut on what also looks to be a 70's Fender P-Bass neck, with a Jazz Bass pickup under the bridge cover and the output jack located on the side as the hole is now certainly occupied by the tone control. If it's an original Fender 70's Precision Bass neck, the fingerboard has been changed as it was either rosewood or varnished maple.
