  1. And it's a no gain phase inverter too unlike the two other types of phase inverters : the long-tailed pair inverter and the paraphase inverter. They all have advantages and disadvantages, but the cathodyne one is certainly the most accurate phase inverter as you don't need to have totally paired triodes to work perfectly.
  2. I didn't know that facts were politics.
  3. Told ya @fretmeister 😉
  4. Indeed, all modern 6L6 have a Glass Container. 😉
  5. Terrific job ! 👌
  6. It's a very good amp with indeed a Fender-like EQ, so settings interacting with each other in permanence. I sent mine back only because of the plane turbine fanning system (3 fans !!!), which is a big problem at low volume when playing in an acoustic band or for recording. If it's going to be a gig only amp, then go on, it's a terrific one. That said a Warwick LWA 1000 has the same output power, is ultra lightweight, has two completely independent channels and is dead silent for the same price... One fresh air in fan and two heated air out fans for the Hartke LH1000 :
  7. Not in 20 years, it's happening right now @PaulWarning as Pro-Ject, one of the leading manufacturers of turntables who believed in the vinyl comeback, has started a new range of CD-Transports... for the same sale reasons as the previous medium. Worth reading the introduction comment : https://www.project-audio.com/en/product/cd-box-rs2-t/ This market based essentially on nostalgia for the oldest and discovery for the youngest is not a niche one at all...
  8. Urm, urm, the location idea is already in place since a year or maybe 2... It's mandatory when putting an ad in the for sale section... It's just under the price and only old ads don't have it (check the in line date just under). That said, I can run the branch in Luxembourg as it's just 20 minutes away and I already have all the authorizations needed, but MY taxes are very high.
  9. Fretted and fretless too. Ah yes, and defretted too. And refretted.
  10. And me. Being 55 years old and having lived the birth of CD, I really can't stand vinyl, which, is, to me, sorry for those worshipping it, the worst medium ever. And I laugh a lot when I hear the analogue sounding argument... Scritch, scratch, riiiiip, shrook-shrook, shrook-shrook, shrook-shrook...
  11. I've been into tube design and repairs for decades. The scope is not a vital tool to my own opinion, but a shorting big wire made with two clip-on pliers (one red and one black for polarity plugging), a 5 Watts resistor and a LED is a real vital tool. You know that tension may remain in the capacitors if not properly grounded when shut down, that's why shorting them before doing anything is really vital. And for those not knowing this, there's a negative tension in most tube amps (won't go into details) that you have to discharge from the capacitor(s) by putting the shorting wire (with a LED and resistor) the other way. Another vital device, but for the amp this time, is a loading resistor. 😉 That said, I owned the first reiusse made in the 90's bought new at the time (a hard to swallow pill) and it was a terrific combo. I would go for the B15NF version with, as you wrote, the two biasing possibilities and also a solid state rectifier possibility. It's a very nice project !
  12. You won't regret this fuelled buy. 🤪
  13. Is the seller a bishop ?!?
  14. If you're still looking for a portable amp, with just enough power and tone for practice, you can buy the dirt cheap Joyo MA-10B Portable Bass Amp (€33, yes £33) coupled to an external power bank like the Harley Benton PowerPlant Powerbank (£35, yes £35). It's a totally portable solution that you can use anywhere with the external power bank or the external power supply... I own this little system and it stays on the table looking like a toaster, so not disturbing at all. 😉 This is the amp : https://m.thomann.de/gb/joyo_ma_10b_portable_bass_amp.htm And the power bank with enough current : https://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_powerplant_powerbank.htm
  15. Just one clarification in all these speculations : A private seller can not subtract the VAT from the goods he's selling as there's no VAT on second hand stuff. The VAT is collected by the last VAT registered retailer/seller before a private buyer and then payed to the state collecting organisation. Concerning import/export, there's a local VAT applicable on any goods coming from a foreign country being it new (all goods) or second hand (on all goods above the incoming country maximum untaxed price). Why ? Because VAT has not been collected yet by the incoming state... For those sceptical, I have (amongst others, hélas) an European Diploma in Enterprises Management (91% score for those who wonder) and know very well those regulations, but for now all I'm reading are just speculations as the official 1500 pages Brexit deal has not been signed yet, nor read by anyone here...
  16. It was mine before I sold it to Russ as our last pre-Brexit deal and I all I can tell you is : YES !
  17. This is for people having a registered VAT number, not the common people. Let's wait until the ratification of this Brexit deal on the 30th of December before making any suggestion, because it's not clear at all as nobody knows what these1500 pages text contains.
  18. It could be worse, you could have the Gibson Robot Tuners installed and curse them for their permanent auto-tuning and retuning and retuning again and again whenever you make a slight vibrato or bend...
  19. Or how an ad with good photos makes you want to watch and read... GLWYS.
  20. A double bass real low B is not frightening the Peterson StroboClip HD... And it's where my clip on tuner stands on my Leduc U-Contrebasse 6 EUB, so, easy to catch with the eye and not bothering anyone.
  21. Exactly my feeling about the difference. The OC-5 is more precise and the OC-2 is more idiosyncratic. Other than that, there might be some glitches making one sound a bit more growly sometimes and next time it's the other. The OC-5 is a true success : thanks Boss. No need to spend €/£ 200 on a second-hand Japanese OC-2 anymore, when you can almost get 2 brand new OC-5's for the same price.
