3.
Interested in the matamp, any other info on it please? Ta.
Certainly... It's 4 ohm, 800W, it's a sealed cab (infinite baffle), it has ferite drivers not neo's, it's covered in black tolex and has the picture frame front with black sound cloth. This cab was the very first 2x12 bass cab Matamp produced as they didn't make them until I asked for one and they went through a few driver configurations until we found one one that worked as well as these do. It's not the lightest cab but I've lifted it in and out of my van lots of times and I used to lift it onto the top of a 4x10 every gig. The drivers alone are 240 quid to buy. A few Basschatters have played through this and all said they loved it... When I first had it made we run a Mesa 400+ through it at full tonk and it didn't break sweat. I would love to keep it to be honest but I have so many amps and cabs now and nowhere to keep them I am having to be ruthless (well She Who Must Be Obeyed has told me I am having to be ruthless) and she did let me get the PJB 24B

 5. A good match would be my Matamp 2x12 rated at 800W 4ohms sealed and loaded with with 2 Delta Pro 12A drivers... it was designed to be used with my Matamp GT200(200W valve amp). Very Loud and punchy. PM me if you aree interested and we'll argue about a price (Just got a PJB 24B so no longer need the 2x12) but do need the space
 6. I can't beleive this hasn't made the cut yet Boogie Nights - Heatwave
 7. Slap Bass Sounds like a Pneumatic Staple Gun with a dodgy trigger I'd love to be good at it though
 8.
What an awesome purchase. Put a door on the back of the cab and it could double up as a nifty wardrobe/dressing room.
LOL... Only if you are 3ft 6 tall ...which I might be after lifting this in and out of the van a few times
Great kit for the money. Not sure if they run comfortably into 2 ohms as Peavey claim though -anyone have experience of this?
I run my Mk VI XP heads at 2 ohms every gig not had a problem in the last 8 months. Bulletproof and plenty loud enough running at 400W / 2 ohms through Peavey 4x10TVX and Matamp 2x12 in fact earth shattering is a better description Got to be the most bang for buck available
 15.
Anyone else think that JPJ looks like 'Bishop' (Lance Henriksson) from the 'Aliens' movie??!
DING Thank you for that I was busting my head trying to think where I recognised his face from PS I think the drummer was giving it so much the bass got lost
 16. I use a Peavey 4x10 with a vertically stacked Matamp 2x12 on top and it's easy to hear at the back of the venue even on low volumes
 17.
Gigging Saturday but it's a private affair. Monday night is the Ice House pub in Shirley, Southampton - nice venue, nice crowd, open to all
This looks like a winner... might see you there if we make it

 20. Sick of trying to get in touch with this guy!!! Keep your cab mate and I'll keep my money. I dont usually lose it but I think it's ignorant to just ignore peoples PM's
 21. Ok here are my five... Victor Wooten Pino Entwhistle (bought "too late the hero" when I was a youngster and it blew me away) James Jamerson MarlowDK ("YouTube" makes it look effortless and inspires me to practice)
 22.
Does anybody else think those wood pickup covers look rank? Or had nobody even noticed the bass?
There's a bass?
 23.
So is turning up alone weird? What shoud I expect? How good will everyone be and indeed how does it all work? Advice very gratefully received!
Like others have said already, take your bass with you and leave it in the car to start with and have a listen to what's happening... odds on they will have a list of the songs they play which will almost always include most of the standards. The bass player will be the friendliest of the bunch Wait until he hands bass duties over to someone that has turned up to play (and let him get his pint) and go and tell him exactly where you are at with your playing and he will probably do all he can to help you. This is how I started a few years ago and the bass player for the jam night band I met has become one of my closest friends, I even go and do bass duties on the jam nights every now and then if he cant make it. If you have never played on stage live you will probably get flushed and your knees will knock.... a lot Try and relax and don't bottle it because the buzz you get when you come off stage is awesome and you will be hooked. I went away from my first jam determined to get "brown eyed girl" nailed Jamming will teach you so much about improvising and thinking on your feet. Blues bass lines are the staple and learn the shapes/patterns so you can just move them round the fretboard to suit the guitarists or singers key. Above all ENJOY it
