1. Not going to let this go for silly money, will hang on to it me thinks
2. I'm guessing number 1 is an SR5 with the pick up switch in the middle
3. Demeter HPB-1 Come to my senses and going to hang on to this until either I can get a nice amp or power amp
4. I would say you are looking at about 800 to 900 for a newish 5HH in good condintion Also having a quick read through some of the comments I would add that pickup height plays a massive part in the sound of these basses and the effeciency of the blend control... Both of the bongos I've had have had the pickups wound right up under the strings when the factory settings should be 4.5mm and 6.5mm gaps betweeen pole pieces and strings this makes the bass a lot easier to control and small movements on the blend makes a massive difference to the tone like 30 degrees of turn takes mine from dub to funk also fresh batteries are a must, if you practice a lot like I do (buffs halo) lol
5.
Well, Im normally a tradtional guy when it comes to designs and colours. I like white/sunburst/tobacco burst...in fact everything I own is like that apart from my natural Tele (hushhhh guitar!). In fact, everything apart from the Big Al looks traditional eg Ray/Jazz/P/Sterling. I am one of those that loves the Stingray 5 pickguard shape....maybe im odd! Anyway, the Bongo has always been one of those that I thought 'hmm, I dont think its for me'. But, the shape and youtube demos have grown on me considerably. I agree Fran, the Big Al is a beast of an instrument. It looks a little odd, but its traditional at heart (especially the tone and the fact you can get normal colours). Ive been VERY impressed with mine. The thing is, from day one, I knew I wanted a Big Al. It didnt need to grow on me, it just seemed awesome straight away. Im probably best sticking with what I have for now. Id like to try one ideally before buying.
I see you are in NE Lincs so I'm guessing Scunthorpe / Grimsby area. Why not pop over to mine and have a play (Selby) then you can make your mind up. I love mine to bits and they are fantastic in a live situation for getting the sound right, PM me and I'll give you my number
6. Definately last bump and price drop then gumtree and fleabay are calling me I think Got to be worth this... haven't they?
7. Last bump before I withdraw the lot and stick it out of the way somewhere Cash offers / Trade offers ???
8. I've been involved in some pretty intense trading of gear over the last few weeks culminating in me being the proud owner of a PJB24B and now a Demeter HPB-1 so tonight I set aside a couple of hours to play and see what tones I was happy with... well... I set up my old Peavey MkVI XP into the 24B and WOW lovely tone and probably well loud enough to play any of the gigs I do, so then set up the demeter through a power amp I have on loan and was not overley elated, sounded ok but not what I was expecting to hear, so just on the offchance I put the Demeter as a preamp to the peavey to bypass the peavey preamp and OMG it blew me away... great attack and a tone so musical I could have cried, I am absolutely amazed, yet again I have found the perfect sound (until the next time lol) DID I MENTION IT WAS FEKIN LOUD!!! I am officially a very happy bunny

10. Are you sure it wont support 8 ohm? although cant imagine it's output would be exactly devastating as its only 250 at 4ohm Anyway Bump to the top for 30 secs approx
11. Come on guys... Is it too dear? Its exactly what I paid for it 4 weeks ago, and a quick look at fleabay shows it's about right if not a little too cheap.. Open to trade offers and there is a little leaway on the price

17. You daft bugger... I've got a MATAMP 2x12 800W 4ohm cab up for sale for £275 and it's awesome It's there if this falls through and its less than 99lbs lol
18.
8< The 24 version must be bloody awesome
Eh?... what you say? <holds hand to ear>
19. Bump for these cabs... I've just got the 24B and they work differently to every other cab I've played through (and thats quite a few). they don't sound like they are pushing bass on the stage but stand at the back of the venue and you can FEEL the bass, it's as though it's going through you. Awesome kit, I might be tempted myself but the 24 is probably enough
