I guess it would be easy to change - a sheet of vinyl on the layer would change it instantly. I quite like the look of these!
-
I could do that I guess but this is going to be a second extension cab and I just want to be able to control tweeter volume. Am leaning towards a 100w l-pad at the moment...

I've a B2 and whilst it's versatile I struggle with it compared to regular pedals. Getting a mild tubey overdrive from it without losing the bottom end is problematic. Is the B3 better in this regard? It looks more like 3 virtual pedals....

Looks like I need an l-pad. Any suggestions on wattage? Will be feeding the 8 ohm cab with a 250w amp. Is 100w overkill?
-
Hi all. Picking up an Eden 115 cab next week. I'd like to be able to turn down/off the tweeter so was thinking of fitting a pot to do this. Anyone have any suggestions on type of potentiometer?

FT: Overwater by Tanglewood Classic Jazz for Hohner Jack

Is it for use with Guitar Hero or Rock Band maybe? There are plastic ones for sale that attach to the game controller...?

Dammit, these look excellent! Probably a silly question but with a hollow body like this do you still get acoustic feedback like a full acoustic bass would or do they behave more like a solid body?

Really interested in this. On the face of it, there are some absolute bargains to be had... -

Old Trafford Cricket Ground...not a music venue...

I saw Doves and Hooky's band of the time at Old Trafford cricket ground a few years back. That was pretty excellent, TBH. -

Ace! Mine needed half a turn of truss rod when I got it. Could maybe go a little lower but I'm nervous! It's a v nice thing and as you say, great for sofa noodling. The output is VERY hot, I was quite surprised... -

I live in Manchester and am never going to another MEN gig at all, I much prefer to spend my time in smaller venues supporting smaller artists and venues that actually care about the experience, like The Ruby Lounge, The Deaf Institute, The Albert Hall etc. -
The corollary of this is if you insist on playing through your kit - I think you have to allow everyone else to play through it too. I'm no expert but over the years I've probably done 70 odd gigs in smaller venues, usually on a night when there's at least 3 bands on. The soundman usually has 15 mins to do changeover. A lot of that time is going to be doing mandatory stuff like adding more vocal mics etc, setting up the desk with the settings that each band soundchecked with, possibly also checking the lights are set up for each band etc. If everyone in every band wanted to insist on using their own equipment, this would never get done in time. With all due respect, all the bass rig is doing is providing you with on stage monitoring, the tone is going to be coming out of FoH PA. It's usual for drummers to use their own snare and share the rest of the kit due to the painful logistics of micing up a full kit. Anything you do to make life easier for the soundman is good karma that you'll cash in by them probably doing a better job of making you sound great on the soundcheck and then in the gig later. I would always ask the other bands first and I'd usually have my amp in the car anyway unless I was drinking that night and travelling light. If the first on stage was crap, I'd suggest using mine and then let the other bands use it too. With the best will in the world if you do that and by all means say "don't turn the power up past X" then no-one's going to damage your kit...

I put my 4 string Jazz, my shorty P bass and my 5 string electro acoustic through it and have zero complaints. I really like the sound and whilst the 2x8" drivers struggle slightly with a full volume low B at reasonable levels they are just fine - the fact that the 2x8 cab is 8ohm and has a socket for an extension cab means I can add a second cab for where it's needed. It has active/passive input but no gain control - personally I've not found this limiting as I've set my output levels on my active bass appropriately. You get bass/mid/treble controls that have quite an organic feel and I've found it very flexible with everything from twang to rumble. The amp is removeable from the cab (well, you have to unscrew it!) for futureproofing. Toneprint is quite nice - as it stands the amp has 2 toneprint slots but you need the optional 3 button footswitch to access the second. I haven't bought this yet as I'm just using the excellent spectracomp to compress my signal on it and am very happy with it - some of the toneprint effects are way overdone but there are great chorus, vibrato, octaver and drive ones available that you can beam from your phone. The main thing I like is the sheer portability of the thing. It's so, so light and small. I did play through the 4x10 version of this amp and it sounded even better but it's considerably larger and you can't add a second cab. I have tried the Fender Rumbles and to my ears, I didn't like them. I appreciate I may be unique in this though as everyone else loves them! I was playing at shop volume rather than gig volume though.

Wait till you gig and every drummer insists on his own kit, instead of just their own snare....
If you mess it up, or need spares, I have a (free!) spare set of strings removed from a HB shorty P (assume that's what you have?). Never been used, I put flats on everything., I'll never use them. Been playing mine all week, Fender P is sulking on the wall! If you get inside it and the wiring looks a bit weird with only one wire to the pup, it's because they are screened wires. It looks like the second pickup end is not connected to anything.
A spare set would be excellent, actually if you're sure that you're not going to use them? Happy to pay postage!

The other advantage of sharing is you're making life easier for the soundman. And that can get you a longer soundcheck or a bit more TLC for your sound...

Love my TC BG250 208. Plenty loud enough for mid volume rehearsals and can drive a second cab when needed. At current prices you're effectively getting the 2x8 cab for free... Plus built in tuner and toneprint means I don't need my pedalboard when traveling light. The line in is handy for practice, too.
