So - happy NBD to me. Fender RW Jazz bass, acquired from Daveyboyrooster of this very parish. Here it is, after getting it home and getting familiar. Also had a string change (Sorry Dave, the flats felt lovely, but i'm really used to the lower tension of the Dunlop superbrights I've been using) and setup to my own personal taste. Managed to get the action nice and low with only minimal buzz when digging in. Really punchy sound to it, I'm a very happy man! Few emails later, and a blast up the motorway, deal was done. Unfortunately didn't get to meet Dave as he was stuck in work, but Mrs DBR was very welcoming even though I was late getting there! Overall a great purchase, from a top fellow BC'er

I tend to stay with the gear anyway these days, especially this time of year, too bloody cold to go and sit in the van before we start. I'm always last to finish setting up anyway as I do all the line checks.....

I had a Laney head back in the day, a DP150? I think? One of these: [attachment=233433:Capture.JPG] IIRC, it was pretty good! Can't remember what I traded or P/X'd it for, was a looooong time ago!

Can only describe our gig on Saturday night as 'Sick' (not the hip kids vernacular 'sick' either). Singer threw up on herself 10mins before show time (not nerves). I had to leave the stage during the last song to throw up (again not nerves). Drummer was pale as a pale thing the whole gig, but got through it. Only our guitar player got through unscathed, and he got the number of a delightful young lady in the audience...

Shut up and dance is about to be added to our setlist. Cracking tune. I also like DNCE - Cake by the ocean, great riff.

Don't know what Bass your using but if you're wanting to experiment with different pickups, I'd recommend getting a wiring loom from Kiogon of this very parish...if you didn't already know this, he makes solderless looms with screw terminals for attaching the pickups, and it makes changing pickups an absolute breeze!

I just used to take spare strings to gigs, but for the sake of carrying one extra thing out of the house, if a string goes mid song, I can just grab the other Bass off the stand and crack on. Saves any downtime. In our cover band, we do a lot of parties / weddings / events and on those sort of gigs, the clientele can be less forgiving of downtime than the local punters at the dog and duck. I still take a backup for Pub gigs though, it's just habit for me now.

The main thing I look for in a gig bag is that it doesn't have a 2 piece handle that that you have to velcro strap together, I despise those for some reason! I like the Fender Metro bag. Can be got for about £38 on ebay from rst music. Pricier elsewhere atm. 1 piece handle!

I'd heard of the promethean, but never really looked at them - that's a nice feature set.

Porthcawl in South Wales is busting with live music every weekend. Transport links are limited though.

Shame this isn't an offer of a spare ticket for tomorrow night, when he's playing about 10mins from my house. Too slow off the mark, Sold Out!

Lozz has hit on something there - generally when you think you're moving quite a bit, on camera it doesn't look a lot at all, especially in a wide shot. I reckon if you're gonna go for some moves, they'll need to be exaggerated a little for camera...YMMV! Also I reckon it's something the whole band needs to discuss, probably with whoever is doing the filming, you don't wanna be throwing too many shapes if no-one else is!

The different knob versions of the unit look exactly the same to me, apart from the knobs of course!
