Images of local Squier, it's not an 'affinity' the small text on the headstock says 'standard' by the look of it:

Mulling this one over! Since having my American Elite P-Bass in April, I re-developed a love for Precision shaped PJ Basses. So, since I like to have a similar sounding Backup for gigs, I find myself trying to decide which of these options to do: 1 - Buy a secondhand Squier PJ I've seen locally (Buyer wants £150 with a Fender practice amp, may be able to knock down / just buy the bass without the amp) 2 - Modify one of my existing Precisions into PJ (either a Roadworn P or maybe the Harley Benton PB50) Of course another option is: - 3 - Not worry about my backup sounding similar to my main bass. Thoughts and opinions appreciated! Ta muchly!

And here's what my Harley Benton PB50 might look like if modified to my taste, if I was clever enough.
whens the Mexi coming out? Since the Rush docu on netflix, ive had a hankering, especially since trying to learn YYz
They are already out. They are now making only 2 types of Geddy Sig model, The USA made one and the Mex made one. As far as I know, originally there was only the MIJ model, then they transferred that production to Mexico. Then they added the USA production model. IIRC there was also a short-lived custom shop model you could get before they brought out before the USA production model, which was reliced to match Geddy's actual '72 Bass.

Personally I like my backup to be as similar sounding as possible. So I guess the same pickup layout is the most important thing for me. It's definitely a personal thing though, most of the punters I play to couldn't care less. I guess if your 'famed' for using a certain type of Bass, then punters will be more discerning. For instance, imagine Steve Harris broke a string and ran off and came back with a Musicman. That'd raise a few eyebrows.
I`ve not got the answers to the specific questions but my two-pennorth is that the Para Driver is the best preamp/DI pedal I`ve ever used.
Completely agree Lozz, of all the various iterations of my pedal board, since I got one a few years ago, the Para Driver has always been the last thing in my chain, every time..

Davie made me a cutting / routing template for my Harley Benton PB-50 to re-shape the headstock into the traditional tele shape. He refused to take payment for the template and posted it to me at his own cost, as well as giving me detailed instructions on how to use it for best results. Davie's a real credit to BC and a true gent! Cheers Davie!

As far as I remember the neck on the Mex version is the same as the neck on the Jap version. I.e., very thin. It's only the US version which has the thicker neck specs.
That's the thing, if you're happy with the nut width and fairly chunky handful, the PB-50 necks play very nicely. Great value, imho.
Couldn't agree more, the neck on mine is excellent too. The fit in the neck pocket is what amazed me the most for a Bass of this price point, it's super tight!
Was happy to help That reminds me I promised LewisK one. Better get the saw out this weekend
Haha, no rush Davie. Cheers matey.
And yes, that bass does not need a J-PUP
You're right of course, it doesn't need a Jazz pickup. It's spectacular as it is. When I saw it first it reminded me of my '78, lovingly christened 'Deedee' by a former bandmate: It's just that I'm loving my PJ at the moment. No offence intended, YMMV etc!
Yeah, I like PJs too. I have an American P at the moment, but like you, when playing often wish for the J in there. Could get one added I guess, but probably better to sell and buy a PJ. Saying all that, I really don't need one either, I have this (slightly different, and lovely) PJ that I had made for me by Chris McIntyre here in Edinburgh. I just have a nostalgic hankering for a P Plus.....
That is one Smaaaaaart looking Bass.

It's a looker for sure, with addition of 60's position Jazz pickup at the bridge it's have me GASsing badly.....

Very nice, is it a custom build from Fender Parts? And what Pickup is that?
