1. You got your order in for the 5 string yet Gareth lol. This complicates things a bit doesn't it?
 2.
cheers Dave . i must agree with you she's a beaut'
Indeed. And i think it helps that you have some nice, well taken shots of it. Ive seen a few, very blurry and dark shots of some basses on here this morning and it puts me off. You would think a seller would make more of an effort (rant over ;-) Good luck.
 3. This is the first burst finish (other than a Blackburst) ive ever liked. This bass looks gorgeous Have a good luck bump.
 4.
Am I the only one who would ask for this song to be removed from the set list?
Probably not but if it goes down well then why would you? Arent we there to play songs the crowd want to hear?
 5.
I've got the original power jazz bass special model, Without the painted neck, it's stupid fast, and those extra frets make the difference in playing lead bass. I dunno if the duff signature has ghe same number of frets. Plus this has the active pre amp. Quarter pounder in the P and a Duncan designed jazz pick up. It's great if you want to be thumped, not for me though. Love a trade for a ray 34 , but that won't happen haha.
Sounds like a bit too much thump for me as well lol. I've never liked SDQP's. I know there are loads that do but to me its to aggressive. I guess its ideal for rock though.
 6.
Its different to how the subs feel. Mine feels just like a lacquered 62 jazz bass neck.
Cheers Chris. Ill see if i can get to try one at some point.
 7.
+1 It was the thing I didn't like about it too, good sounding though.
That was the main reason i got rid of my Sub. Hmmm, hadnt thought about this.
 8.
Asked the guy at the counter if he was able to get it in stock and was pretty much told no such amp exists.....Ok....so the one on the GK site is a fake?! What about the one on Thomman site?! I mentioned this, to which he basically said im wrong, he's right, it dont exsist.
Dont believe everything you read on the internet. This guy works in a music shop so how could he be wrong lol.
 9. Sold to the lovely man in Warwickshire. Cheers Mark.
 10.
The Japanese one comes with standard Fender Jap pickups, not the Duncans. If you send me an email to [email protected] i have some really good hi-res images of the Jap ones. (i will forward them when i'm not on the work computer) These aren't brought into the UK through Fender due to the obvious resemblence to the Duff Bass. I Think the Jap one will be more faithful to my original '85 one. It is very hard to find detailed spec to these but i think i have them somewhere. The Stock Alnico V Pickup is ok. But i have swapped all mine out for '62 Reissue PUPs as these are the pickup Duff actually asked for in his Custom Shop basses. Presumably not used to keep cost/spec down? The newer pickup sounds much rounder and a bit more high-end sparkle.
Cheers Chris. Ill email you now. No rush though, its just one of a few basses im interested in. Thanks again for all the help.
 11. Just sold Mark my DD. very nice bloke, easy to deal with, had some great communication, and i know its gone to a good home. Cheers mate.
 12. Had a POD2 off this charming bloke for my singer. Very easy to deal with and great price. Cheers mate.
 13.
The Duff bass doesnt have Quarter Pounders. It has a stock Fender pickup in the P-Position and an Seymour Duncan STK-J2B in the Jazz Bridge Position. It's not as aggressive as you may think. The Jazz Pickup has a slightly higher output then normal Jazzers, this makes the volume of the two roughly the same. Still worth considering i reckon!
Ah right, thanks. Then its back on the list. And it makes sense to have the jazz pup a bit hotter i guess. Do you know if the MIJ version the same? Its cheaper but there isnt a lot of info on the website posted above. And im not really up on all the Fender models. I love Alnico V pups and would probably put a Fralin P in it at some point. Cheers.
 14.
I have an original 80s Jazz Special and the new Duff one and the new one has a totally different shape neck to it. Much closer to a P-Bass. I will measure mine when i get back too, i also have the Aerodyne so can compare that as well.
Cheers Chris, that will help. Seeing as i dont like SDQP pups i think the duff version is off the list.
 15. Cheers guys. Seems liek the neck will be fine. Sean, thanks for that link. Ive heard about this shop but never bothered looking for it. looking through their stock i think i now prefer the Aerodyne Jazz Bass with pick guard. I have a feeling the Duff bass will be a bit too aggressive sounding.

 18. Quite a nice looking bass and im thinking it might be a good, all round back up bass (maybe, maybe not) but i would like to know the nut width. Now, before anyone starts quoting me spec's off Fenders website ive read them, 1.5". But ive also read that this is not the case and its actually a P width. Cheers.
 19. I got these last week, thinking they might be better than Chromes. They feel similar but i really dont like the tone. Ive not tried chromes on the Ray yet so maybe they are similar but even if they are, i dont like them. Paid £29 so looking for £15 posted to UK addresses. Used for an hour at home and one gig. Be aware that the G is cut to fit a SR4 headstock so i don't think it will fit a normal Fender type.
 20.
Strange. Last few times I have been in there they have been perfectly courteous and I picked up a set of my fave Fender superbass strings for a great price.
Same here. Over Christmas when i was looking in to Stingrays i went in and although there was only one guy working there, and the shop was pretty busy, he more or less insisted i have a play on one when i asked if they sold them. He gave me info about them (as i pretended to not know anything about them) and thne left me to do what ever i wanted. No hassle. I have of course had the opposite in there, i guess its just pot luck.
 21. Almost tempted but i really do want a PM4. Good luck.
 22. Ive been meaning to get lessons for ages a si know i realyl need them. I've looked on Johnny's site a few times as he lives near my drummer. Maybe ill book one after my holiday and see how i get on.
 23.
Well you know where tBBC's views on German planks got him
Whats this got to do with European politics lol
 24.
Shorter screws?
Yep, thats what i did with my Fender P5. bloody G and D string saddles kept ripping the side of my hand. only problem was i had to order 10 (i think). I dont have them any more, before anyone might ask.
 25. Hope i dont get in to trouble over that comment ;-)
