1.
They are stunners. I never thought about a 2 band EQ bas until Linus put those lovely clips up...and seen as though I have 1 3 band EQ which was my first 'expensive' bass back when I was 17/18, (and thankfully it still looks as good as it did then!) I thought id sell the other one and get a 2 band. Then I realised what the heck, I cant decide on a 5 string and ive yet to find one I want to go for, so I put all the money into this little beauty. Not as expensive as I thought.... Should arrive mid-May....but Im guessing it might be an estimate only, so could be June. I like the wait...anticpation
Just think of all the other basses you will see posted over the next few month lol. Its going to be a long wait but worth it. I must admit im thinking that if i keep my Ray34 i will get a J East 2EQ pre put in it. I think the slightly thicker low end is a good thing to have. I guess its not until you hear the difference that you really understand it. Good luck with it.
2.
I suspect we've all gone through this period (or will go through it) to some degree.
After most gigs in my case ;-)
3.
I have just taken the plunge and ordered the Classic White Classic Series Stingray 4. Birdseye maple neck and and board, tort guard. One of my Rays sold, and I have to have two...so it was perfect to get a variant this time. I am VERY excited. I NEARLY went for the powder blue, but some pics Ive seen arent quite as nice as Id hoped. Not 'sonic blue' enough for me....you cannot go wrong with a classic white
At last lol. Nice one. I think these are fantastic basses and i agree, the bule is a bit wimpy, white all the way. so when does it arrive?
4. As someone who thought he did i can tell you i dont. They are useful and i will get another one day but i dont need one to play the songs i play. Even songs written on 5 string are manageable on 4, you just need to play them differently.
5. You can also get a lead that has a dock connector on one end and two Phono's on the other. This will give you a line out signal. I got one of these to use with our PA.
6. Another bump. The Ray34 had its first gig on Sat and sounded very nice but the G was definitely lacking. Ive put the Ray34 up for sale but also plan on getting a Nordy for it, probably next week. If it works out that's great and i might just keep it, if it sells im planing on putting the Nordy in my DD (well, maybe).
7. Ive been through this as well. It seems like most of us have. I gave up playing for almost 7 years. There just didnt seem any point. I was working long hours and also had a family so that was all my time used up. It was only by chance i got back in to playing but once i was gigging i felt a lot more positive. Now i wouldn't dream of giving it up, no matter how tired i am. I dont really go out during the week so once a week out earning some money and doing what i enjoy is actually helping me get through the rest of the week. As long as you dont go mad and sell off everything i think its something that comes back very quickly. Its in our blood. I've had a pretty expensive Gym membership for the past 7-8 years yet i hardly ever go these days. In fact ive been twice since Oct last year. And most nights i walk past the gym. I really dont have the motivation to go. I enjoy it when im there but its the actual walking through the door i cant do. Michael, if your in central London tonight give me a shout and maybe we could meet up for a moan, and good luck.
8. I replaced the blue speaker in my old MAG 300 C-115 last month for a slightly higher powered version. I dont know what happened to the old speaker but it just stopped working. It looks fine but its dead. I had an email from Ashdown with a price for a new driver but ended up getting it from on line, i think i saved about £25. I read somewhere that with as they come the combos put out around 2/3 the total rated power in to just the internal speakers at 8ohms
9. I used to have Chromes on my P5 and DJ5. They seemed a good compromise between TI's and Nicks.
10. Cheers. It took me a while to position myself so i didnt get too much of the bedroom cupboards in but i think it turned out ok. The build quality is great. They come out of the same (Cort) factory as the Lakland Skylines and have a very similar feel to them but are almost half the price. Its a much classier bass than my old Sub but its also different in the wrong way for me. I can live with it and will in fact be gigging it for a while but it would be nice to get something with a narrower string spacing.
11. Slight bump as i quite fancy a Sub 5 if anyone wants to trade.
12. Isnt it quicker to order direct form the USA then? Somewhere like bass central.
13.
Nope but I was told anything up to 20 weeks, equal +/- 5 months. Don't know if that is accurate or not but that's what the distributor told the shop *(Bass Gallery in Camdem)*
But you ordered it on the 13th April..........whats the weather going to be like ;-)
14.
I've ordered mine on April 13th and it's due beginning July.
Are you a time lord lol.
15. I practice this way at home. I plug my bass in to one channel of my sound card, and go through something like guitar rig. This gives a stereo signal. I can run itunes/ipod/media player etc along with it. I just have the stereo out from the sound card going to a split feed 3.5mm lead with one side feed my PC (crap) speakers and the other side going to one of these headphone amps. They cost about £15. FiiO E5 I dont see the need for a mixer as every part of the set up has a volume control of some sort anyway. If its just for ipod and no computer is involved then I do also have one of those cheap Behringer two channel mixers and it works fine. Behringer Xenyx 502 Or i use my Korg Pandora PX4D.
16. I knew it had been modified, im still in touch the the current owner but didnt know it was for sale. Damn fine bass and i really regret selling it.
17. I must admit i have no idea what these Marvel strap locks are as i hadn't heard of them before this thread so im not going to have a look at them now.
18. Yeah, thats the website i came up with. I guess its no ones loss other than the OP. He's been asked to supply more info so must not want to for a reason.
19. Ive used Shallers for years and not had any accidents. Based on a thread last year i changed to Dunlops. Im happy with them other than on both my MM Sub and my Ray34 i couldn't get the horn screw in properly. I dont know why its just these two basses but ive now gone back to Schallers. I put some nail polish on the nuts to lock them in place on the strap and lke i said, never had one fall off.
20.
I like all the reflections, Dave. It looks very shiny These are great basses, people. I've had one identical to this and only sold it when my piezo Stingray appeared here. They play & sound like the real thing and the quality of these basses is spot on. Best of luck with the sale, Dave.
Cheers Rich, yeah, they are very shiny. Hardest Bass ive taken pics of.
21.
Fancy your HW1 back?
Chancer lol. Im actually happy to keep this bass. Its really nice and as i only use one bass its not like ill be stuck with a bass i cant play. saying that, if i can get a SB14 that would be even better. I really missed the HW1 at first but i know i wouldn't use it. I do want to stick with a MM of some sort, even if i dont use it as my main bass. FWIW The neck is (or seems) bigger than the Sub
22. You really need to add more info like where you are based, how much is shipping etc. Dont forget this is a UK based forum. And i doubt anyone knows anything about you. No offence but I think your wasting your time.
23. Post gig bump. I did a gig with this last night and it just didnt feel as comfortable as my DD. No point playing the un comfortable one. Now dropped the price (a bit).
