  1. As much as the FRFR solution is (imho) very much about hearing one’s instrument without the colour certain amps and cabs give to it, for me the weight and size issue was hugely important. The K12.2 rattles my house just nicely! I think you are being wise not putting all your eggs in one basket. I looked. It reminds me of a rig I used in a thrash band I was in. There is a hugely heavy Acoustic (as in the make) head and cab at one of the venues I play at that I deeply covet, if I thought they’d sell it to me I’d buy it in a heartbeat, but, I don’t think I’d use it if I got it home, nonetheless, for some reason, I still want it.
  2. I don’t think that’s going to happen, having just gone over to using a K12.2 myself I get the distinct feeling it’s a a one way street once you’re converted.
  3. As I was typing it I was (genuinely) thinking I’m becoming a bit of a pain in the behind convert zealot, although this is an ideal time to go FRFR I also think it’s possibly time for me to shut up about it. I haven’t seen his latest acquisition but heading over now.
  4. You do realise this is your chance to change your bass life forever and move over to an FRFR solution?
  5. A band I used to work for back in the 90s, Collapsed Lung, small but sold out crowd of 100, great vibe, great band. Here’s the rig...
  6. Oh my god, it has a look that reminds me of 70s furniture, and I mean that in that’s the highest aesthetic praise I could possibly give to an object. That is my idea of a thing of absolute beauty...
  7. Oddly enough, being a huge Japan fan, I’m a huge Polaroids onwards Japan fan, I’m not that fond of Quiet Life and haven’t heard any pre-Quiet Life output.
  8. Empires and Dance by Simple minds is a great album, I’m not bothered after that really.
  9. I disliked The Armoury Show too, despite John McGeoch (one of my favourite guitarists) playing for them.
  10. Sorry! I use it with an Ibanez SRC6 and it sounds just as good.
  11. I can’t fault it, mind you I use it for acoustic bass only but I’d say it was ideal for the scenario you describe.
  12. I loved aThe Skids but despised Big Country and I’m always surprised that the latter are held in such high esteem, am I missing something?
  13. Post-Gabriel Genesis, dreadful. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is my favourite prog album ever.
  14. Great call, those first two Human League albums, Reproduction and Travelogue are two of my favourite albums of all time, I totally agree, MK2 Human League? Pfffftttt.
  15. Ian Astbury was always a c*** (not Cult) in waiting, having said that Wild Flower and Lil’ Devil are good tracks imho, I think I’m right in saying that Rick Rubin made them play direct into their amps without effects on Electric and I find that pure sound is rather fresh and invigorating, however, Astbury becoming an LA rock god overnight was sickening. Fire Woman from their next album, Sonic Temple, is also a bit of a hard rock classic, however I’d throw all those tracks in the bin in order to listen to Ressurection Joe, so, essentially, I’m agreeing with you. I saw their first iteration Southern Death Cult and their second as Death Cult and they were already showing signs of the tossers they were to become. In summary, I agree.
  16. I agree totally, we are in good company there!
  17. You didn’t have to Sir, you didn’t have to...
  18. Actually I think that’s the whole root of this FRFR vs trad bass rig thing, needing ‘a bigger one’ 😱.
