  1. The pics were taken under strong lights but it is quite shiny!
  2. I first saw Theatre of Hate at The Rainbow on the 11th April 1981, in fact here’s the poster... ...three quid for five bands! The second time was this evening in Southend, they were excellent. Kirk Brandon’s voice was as strong and as high as it was thirty seven years ago, I was mighty impressed. Stan Stammers’ bass rig here, apologies for the pic, blue light innit. A great night.
  3. I have noticed that the finish on these and the SRC6s varies wildly, this finish is as it was in the shop but I also noticed it was shinier than other ones I’ve seen.
  4. Sorry @boywonder, not looking for trades or swaps on this one, the money is going towards new gear.
  5. Dots are between the lines as on a fretted bass (see new pic below). The pickup config was a big part of why I got this bass initially.
  6. My conversion to short scale is another reason for the sale, this would be a great Xmas present for a newbie to fretless.
  7. Cheers. I just hate instruments just sitting and not getting played, it’s a crime.
  8. Ibanez SR500 - £200 ***NOW SOLD*** This bass was purchased at PMT Southend just under four months ago, August the 23rd to be precise! It went straight to Guitar Technical Services for a full Pro Setup and has been barely played since, never gigged, played at home about three times. All the bass duties in my band are covered by my fretless or an Ibanez SRC6 so this bass just isn't getting played. No dings, marks or scratches, immaculate condition. Happy to personally deliver to almost anywhere in the UK (I like driving!). PM or reply to the post if you are interested.
  9. It always looks plush after a hearty breakfast of cheese.
  10. Oh dear... Went in to PMT Southend, paid for three hours parking and wandered into the shop expecting a lengthy, soul searching wrangle with the issue of going over to the RnR killing dark side that is an FRFR setup. The excellent staff there set up a QSC K12.2, set it to the bass amp preset, I plugged my bass into my Fishman Platinum, set everything at 12 O/C so I had the flattest sound possible and started playing. It took twelve minutes to see the light fully and six of those were just waiting for the assistant to return. So I am putting two basses and my AER Basic Performer up for sale and as soon as I've shifted the AER this will be my new setup... ...I didn't have to discuss anything with the shop assistant, I was fully prepared and armed with all the possible info, how simple it actually is to make the right decision when you have a huge 38 page thread like this that does all the arguing and comparison for you, all one has to do is go in, try it out and confirm it. This is exactly what makes Basschat a massively useful and important resource for its members.
  11. *waves, in a kind of prog way*
  12. In case Santa or @Jabba_the_gut is listening... ...and on a less selfish note either a complete reversal of Brexit or Scotland gains independence and rejoins the EU on its own. I'd join the migrants heading North and discover just what it is like to be a refugee.
  13. It’s only a couple of streets away from The Cliffs, good staff in the Southend branch too.
  14. I’d have them shot at dawn, no blindfold.
  15. I am sure there used to be a band called Max Pax and the Rialto Ballroom Detectives but I can’t find anything online about them, perhaps I was tripping?
  16. The moment of truth is almost here, asked my local PMT to get a QSC K12.2 and a K10.2 in so I can try them out along with several RCF speakers that they already have in stock. So, on Friday, I’ll be taking the Rob Allen Mouse along with a Fishman Platinum pre amp and seeing if I too can kill RnR. I shall post my findings here.
