1. The little bastard has probably been made as a compliment to the Hayden line (Ashdowns sister company for guitarists) 30 watt all valve head which is called the Mofo! So you can have a motherf****r or a bastard. Excellant!!!! The mofo is a really cool, fun well made head so good things to be expected from this. Its not going to be as loud as an ABM but it should be wicked in the studio or for tiddilly gigs/practices. Cool!
2. Good luck with the sale Marc! It's for all the right reasons and I sincerley hope you get the best price for this awesome gear. If anyone has yet to hear the Hellborg rig then you are mega missing out. It's REALLY something special.
3. Ta very much and likewise to Stu! Very friendly chap and an easy transaction too! Enjoy the Korg
4. Still Avaliable - Price drop to £85 inc UK postage!
5. Bump for price reduced from £100 to £90 +postage.
6. Provisionally sold! Edit was £100 then £90 plus shipping, now £85 inc UK shipping! Up for grabs is this Bass multi effects processor. I bought it as a headphone amp but I have recently got a little Roland Microcube RX which does the job admirably enough for my needs. Everything works with no issues/ no crackly switches or controls. It's been used but has no visible paint chips or dents, all buttons and the expression pedal is absolutely fine. I bought this secondhand earlier this year and really enjoyed using it. The guy who had it before me is someone I have known for quite a while and definitely doesn’t abuse his gear. I have the original box but not the manual, it's a fairly intuitive unit and the manual is available to download online anyway. It has a non original but fully working 9 volt power supply. This unit doesn’t need a very specific PSU so any standard 9 volt, low current adaptor should work fine as well. These seem to be £189-£219 + delivery online so I'm looking for £85. The buyer is welcome to collect from my home or work address in Reading. I can ship using business post for next day service. link to official blurb http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=242 The Korg AX3000B ToneWorks is a bass guitar effects processor which combines signal and effects processing with 72 Amp, Cab, and effects models as well as Korg's unique Expression Step Sequencer in a heavy duty metal chassis with an expression pedal and a backlit LCD screen. Included in the AX3000B are 16 types of drive and amp models varying from clean tones to vintage tube warmth to ultra-low bottom-end, as well as 11 types each of pre-effects, cabinet, modulation, delay and reverb effects as well as Noise Reduction. The Korg AX3000B provides standard effects such as compressor, limiter, wah, flanger, and chorus, in addition to Korg's unique effects like a pitch shifter with a range of two octaves up or down, a fretless effect that simulates the tone of a fretless bass, and a synth effect that produces the sound of an analogue bass synth. Additional features of the AX3000B include an auto-chromatic tuner with mute function; S/PDIF digital optical output for direct connection to a digital audio system; Key Lock function for preventing accidental control changes; AUX IN and OUT for connecting an external processor as an insert effect; and MIDI in/out, enabling you to edit and store original sounds on a Mac or Windows computer using the free AX3000B Sound Editor software. Effect type and parameters are shown on the screen for editing, to create individual sounds. The AX3000B includes 32 factory presets, with memory space for 96 user defined presets. The Korg AX3000B assignable control switch can turn each effects block on and off and controls effects parameters in real time. The expression pedal, with 8-bar LED indicator works as a standard volume and wah control as well as controlling effects parameters. The Korg AX3000B unique Expression Step Sequencer automatically controls most effect parameters in a fixed or random step function. Assign up to eight steps of effect parameter values in the step sequencer, and specify one of seven ways in which the sequencer will play back these steps, including Forward, Backward, Alternate and Random. A bass amp/line output selector allows you to route the AX3000B output to either a bass amp or the line input of a mixer or audio interface. 7. A Smith for £130!!!!!!!! It would probably still have been cheap with another 0 at the end! I got a Modulus Flea mint from Reading Crack Converters for £350! Still wish I kept it too
8.
A maple neck would be fantastic but i dont think i like the look of the block inlays on a maple neck as much as i do on a RW. nor do i think the black headstock would look as nice as a maple one. I actually like the look of the White/RE was well. This is what im aiming for (assuming i go for the DJ5).
Cool! Thats a pic of a bass I ordered from the dudepit about 5-6 years ago. This was pre all the various shannighans related to the site of late and at a time when the dollar pound exchange rate made it work out to be around £700. That combination is quite frankly one of the best looking you will ever see on a guitar. Nice bass but I moved it on after going back to 4 strings only. The stock Aero pups were a little quiet for my liking but the neck was ace. I think the newer Lakland pickups have a bigger more rounded tone and are certainly superier to the earlier types they used.
9. I've got a metro MV4 and the feel of the neck has changed massively since I got it about 18 months ago. The finish has softenned up to a very smooth almost shiney feel as if it was partially lacquered. On the back of the headstock where I havent sweated into the neck it feels really rough and sticky in comparison to the rest of the neck. I think they just take a while to break in, if you are used to the feel of a gloss neck then I dont think even with a year or two of playing its going to get like that but they do really change over playing time. I had a couple of stingrays for a few years and never got on with them at all, the neck felt the same after 2 years as it when when new. Sticky and horrible to me. When I got mine it had been in the gallery for a little while and used for a couple of reviews so I dont think it classed as being completely new, it felt much better than the others in the shop when I got it. It might well be worth perservering with it for a bit to see how it changes and you might well be suprised at how much better it gets. If you dont get on with it...... A metro PJ4 is the only bass I am really lusting after at the moment!
10. +1 on Grado quality. I am lucky enough to have a pair of sr225's and they are awesome. Not huge amounts of bass but the sound is so detailed. As soon as I switch to anything else its as if a sheet has been placed between my ears and the music. Nice price!
11. This is pretty much my favourate bass part of all time. So much groove and soul. I think I could just listen to the rhythm section all day. It sounds deceptively simple but it is incredibly complex and melodic bass line which never gets in the way of Marvins vocals. There are thousands of bassists that can play this but I have yet to hear any rendition that approaches the feel and soul of the original. Ta for posting.
12. These awesome monitors are up for sale. I have never really made as good use of these as the previous owner (Bracknell recording maestro Al Heslop) who I bought them from about a year ago. I dont want to sell these but it's a lot of money tied up and times must etc. I think they are about 4-5 years old and they have no cosmetic issues or servicability issues at all. They have always worked with no complaints of any type. They work fantastically as home studio monitors or as near-mids in a bigger studio. The bass extension is astonising for such little boxes. Its lovely detailed bass with no flabbiness or boxeyness at all. Off to a good home please! The cheapest I have found online is £600 a pair and £699 from an actual shop. These have the original boxes included and can be collected from my address in Wokingham or delivered to a local address. I really wouldn't want to post them as they are fragile items and the buyer is welcome to inspect and listen to them. £350. Offical blurb: 'This high-performance monitor comes in a very compact design and it is extremely well suited for production environments where space is a concern. The BM 5A is well suited for music monitoring and mixing, broadcasting, OB vans, edit suites, playback suites, project studios and smaller post production facilities. The small size in combination with the renowned Dynaudio Acoustics performance makes the BM 5A suitable for smaller 5.1 productions. When space is limited, the combination of the BM 5A with the BM 10S will deliver a full-blown 5.1 system with a remarkable performance, most often only known from larger setups. 13. Bump for lower price. £155+ £10 delivery.
14. This is from a general clear out of stuff I don't use or need anymore. This has no issues and is immaculate. It's a really cool little pre-amp, headphone amp and DI. The carry bag is included and all the original cables and accessories. I used this on a few gigs where I knew the monitor's were excellant as a signal to front of house and it sounded awesome. It's a high quality very clean voiced pre which has worked really well as a front end to plug into my home recording rig. However I havent used it in about 2 months so have decided to let it go. Official description: 'The Phil Jones Bass Buddy multi-function headphone amp. The Bass Buddy is made with a heavy plated chrome steel case with 1/4" CNC machined aluminum front panel. Its features include an EQ dedicated for bass instruments, a stereo input and volume control for drum machine/MP3/walkman, and is battery powered or with a AC adaptor. It could also be used as an active DI box, or a pre-amp with enough power to drive any headphones, power amp or even a speaker. Weighs only 2 lbs. and measures 5.35 inches W x 1.75 inches H x 7.3 inches D. The Bass Buddy™ is the most compact practice amp in the market loaded with multiple features. A heavy duty, protective padded shoulder bag is also included.' The new RRP is £279 and it seems the cheapest I can find it is £239 online + postage so I have priced it up at £175 + £10 postage. Buyers are welcome to collect from my address in Wokingham or daytime from my work address in Reading. Cash prefered but can accept Paypal if neccessary.
15. killer bass!!!
16. Unless the studio is subject to big changes in temperature or humidity then something is probably up with the rod. Could be your truss rod nut isnt gripping into the wood anymore. A repairer could just do the simple thing of putting a new washer onto the end of the truss rod so it grips a bit better. I had a similar problem on a 70s Fender and this sorted the problem out for me. I dont think Laklands have a reputation for this sort of thing.
17. I would near in mind that Warwick along with Sandberg, AER, TREX and loads of european makes have had to increase their prices in the UK due to the exchange rate of the Euro to the pound. If you check the price list on the Warwick website it has increased 3 times so far this year, Warwick are probably making the same margins but the UK price has had to increase unfortunately for them to make the same amount in Euros. Rubbish from a customer point of view but thats the economy :-( On the plus side things are really going cheap on the second hand market at the moment. If you have money in your pocket you can really get some bargains out there!
18. Last nod as it's on the bay for anyone interested. Item number 330251560603
19. Cheeky bump for the weekend chaps. This is a great cab and needs to find someone who will use it more than I have.
20. That looks great! Mine had an odd rattle on anything below a low G but went away after I tightenned up all the visible screws a bit. Great choice. I played a theatre gig in a 300 capacity venue with the volume at around 11 o clock on the Ashdown and the soundguy said he had hardly anything going through the PA as the rig blasted out nearly enough lows to fill the room! Hopefully youtube evidence at some point. Enjoy the cab it looks fantastic.
21. All Warwick basses built recently (ie 3-4 years I think) are pleked in the factory in the same way they do all Framus guitars. If the action is high then all you likely need is a good set-up. Pleking could be worthwhile if you play with a very unusual string gauge or tuning to improve intonation. Just my 2 pennies worth
22. Due to the recent arrival of a Schroeder 410l this cab is now surplus to requirements. I bought this second hand about 2 years ago from a player who used it occasionally for a rock covers and function band. It's had about 30 gigs since then with on average a rehersal a week and stood up really well to a loud guitarist and drummer. This cab really cuts through a loud mix with a very hifi like tone. The driver arrangement has a 12 voiced for lows at the back of the cab with a further 12 in front of it for mids/highs. It makes the cab very manageable to move around while still providing a serious amount of bottom end if required. It's also got the best tweeter of any cab I have ever used before with a sturdy toggle selector on the back panel to vary the volume. Connections wise its Speakon with a socket to footswitch the tweeter in/out. Condition wise it is identical to when I got it. The carpet covering (why dont more makers use this type!) really stops the bumps and knocks from damaging the exterior. Its got a small mark on the front right face of the cab which is visible in the pics but that is it for cosmetic flaws. I have never had to open up the cab or service any parts of it as it has always performed without fault. I live in Wokingham near Reading and buyers are welcome to come and have a look at the cab, I live in a terraced house so huge volume levels are not possible At the moment all my other gear is in storage but I can arrange to have a head here if anyone wants to plug in and can't bring their own amp over. I may be able to deliver within 20 miles or so but am not looking to ship this one. Collection is very much prefered! Price wise I paid £400 a couple of years back and am looking to get £300 for this one. Paypal is fine by me if you add another £10 to cover the fees. I think its a fair price given the condition and how great this cab sounds. This is an outright sale as gear wise there isn't anything I am looking for at the moment and the extra cash would be nice for a holiday next month. Please post or PM me here and I will try to check back at least once every 24 hours. I hope it finds a good home
