1. You can get a used legend 5 for a lot less than your budget
 2. True My bass doc built 70s p replica is just amazing. I don't tinker with it or change it, or want to As discussed with mr grangur I would like to find a perfect jazz bass but I haven't found it yet. I suspect I will have to make it
 3. Looks like 60s pos to me Very pretty though

 5.
I heard their Brazilian rose wood.
I wood too.
 6. I recently bought a bass with gaps under the e that you could park a bus in. Seller liked it like that and it took about five turns to get it back to action that was even remotely sensible. Jameson didn't do too badly with high action though, did he ?
 7. Got this as part of a trade but don't need it. Think its late 60s judging by the look and materials. Has a fluffy orange lining. Can email more pics if needed Badge says "for fender" with the correct logo so assuming it was made under licence. Some cosmetic damage as you might expect given its age, latches work but I don't have a key http://s1149.photobucket.com/user/geek99/library/case Collection preferred but heading down to Folkestone soon so could drop off if convenient
 8. Consider the VM precision. - there is a natural version. I don't have huge hands and I was fine with those (mine was white)
 9. I had the HS4, which is roughly the same as the Legend series. Nice pickups, good electronics, very slim neck indeed and it never went out of tune. Bridge easy to restring as the strings are caught by the bridge, not threaded through like a Fender. Good range of tones. It was very nice indeed and good value, but wasnt quite right for me.Too traditional in my taste perhaps.
 10.
Keep your favourite fretted bass, sell the Cort and some other fretted gear, then treat yourself to an amazing fretless maybe? ... and you know that you want an amazing fretless ....
Isnt he saying that his fretless is a Cort and he loves it already ? I cant see why he would sell it, based on what he says.
 11. If you can afford it, consider the classic 50s/60s/70s series. Been very impressed every time I've tried one of those.
 12.
I thought she had her dad's actual Precision(s).
She does, in a BGM interview she said fender made her copies to take on road with Pink.
 13. I thought she just used a fender copy of her dads 62 precision ?
 14. I had an HS4 and it was very nice - flamed maple top and good electronics
 15.
It all depends what you want from the finished bass. If you want something that looks, plays and sounds like a vintage Fender, there's only one solution
I disagree, you can Lego genuine parts to make a good replica My vague replica plus some clever paint has fooled a lot of people
 16.
Keep the P, you're Dad bought it for you. It'll be priceless to you one day.
Yep once they're gone, all you have left is momentoes and regrets. Keep all the momentoes you can, while you can. The rest are replaceable
 17.
If every other part is original 70s Fender, then source the genuine article! You know you should!
Fleabay .... There's one on there right now
 18.
I got a 2006 MIM Jazz in sunburst. Plays amazing, sounds amazing and says Fender. Does the job.
I have a 1992 mex jazz and it's fine - I know there are some dogs. I have never played a bad US but I have seen the mex output really up its game in the last few years. I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with one.
 19.
Various acoustic bass guitars.
Ditto
