1. Yep strictly for total losers
2. It doesn't arrive then I complain to Paypal and get a refund International shipping isn't instant so patience is needed
3. Items have to have a declared worth over £15 to see a customs charge, I thought ?
4.
just a promo exercise to get your details and sign you up for Reverb I suspect
I'm happy to pay two quid and then unsubscribe
5. If I recall correctly it was a 2002 or 03? 3ts plus rosewood And yes I do recall /minor/ varnish issues
6. I had a mex Jazz (bought off Leigh Gordon of morcheeba) which had exactly this issue, I just used it as a thumb reference point; it didn't move, never got any worse. Just wood shifting itself around a bit
7. I quite like /the look/ of a thunderbird specifically but I'm not blessed with arms like an orang utan(more like a trex) so it's a non starter I don't really feel the burn of them either
8. This time I shall be doing "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" (it's a gospel song) segueing into "hound dog" Last time I did Folsom prison Blues by Johnny cash
9. Seem to recall patherairsoft was an endorser at some point
10. cheers mister
11.
I bought a second hand classic 50s after recording with one for a spell. Loved the bass so I had to have one, and one came up that had the JJ Burnell look, only problem was it also had an SPB-3 and no original pickup. It didn't last long.
I bought one of those pups on eBay for single digit peanuts
12. Your band mates are delusional - an acoustic bass unamplified would need to be huge physically to be heard over even one acoustic; I know as I've tried it. You can't even hear yourself, let alone them hearing you
13. I started with a cheap Strat but always felt vaguely dissatisfied. Two years later I bought a jap p clone and I just loved it's grace and beauty. The sixer just looked like a toy. Bass lets you be in control of the flow and underpin everyone ; you fatten the sound and lift your partners out of "weedy acoustic world" Bass makes people dance ; that's why my sound check is disco inferno or groove is in the heart
14. Pleasure to deal with
15.
But at the same time don't overestimate the difficulty of rocket science
Look where it got Elon musk and his spacex program, should have paid more attention in rocket science class
16.
This is a great tip. My bass tutor (back when I was having lessons) always recommended leading with your middle finger rather than the index for just this reason. For some reason I don't understand it also helps make the tone more consistent across the two. None of it is rocket science!
Hey that's made my day, no one here has ever said that about me; maybe I talk rubbish most of the time
17.
I'm beginning to hear the reasons people like them. But I'm not likely to have the dosh any decade soon. So, if I want that sound, what;s the best way to do it? Any info/recommendatrions received with interest. Thanks
Throw a bag of tin cans down some concrete stairs and add ominous overtones of legal action ?
18.
Go and find old Chic records and learn these... You won't be able to do it with out using a good two finger technique. It will take a lot of time. Practice drumming with two all the time. Do it when driving on the steering wheel etc etc..
I do this, drives my better half mad
19. I use a simple clip on from Argos
20. Thanks - showed her a d chord and very basic explanation of a chord using my 12 to show the chord
21. Independent school so no council policy to follow
22. I'm hoping it will settle with tuning I don't want to spend a fortune as it's likely a flash in the pan - if she sticks at it we will get her something better
23. Went to pmt in brum and bought a linden 3/4 classical as it had a fairly narrow board, sadly they only had blue Won't stay in tune - new strings needed perhaps
24. I really liked the classic 50s neck and pup
