i have a fake relic and I've done some of it myself. I rounded the neck edges and sanded the back down a bit and its a lot more comfortable to play. I refuse to baby a bass, it s a tool and I'm not going to wrap it in cotton wool. As long as I don't damage its working parts I really dont see why its a problem to have it look a certain way.

Piezo in the bridge ? Piezo bridges are fairly easy to find If you mean in the nut, can't you use an acoustic guitar piezo? They make quite small ones for use and mandolin that would likely fit and they're only a few quid

I'm sure they will. To be honest I'm content to build my own fender style bass from parts or to aspire to own old ones. I'm not sure that the current FMIC, endlessly re-peddling the same old stuff, is exactly what Leo had in mind.

ok - -its fitted and working You can join the piezo cables - its just a wire core and a earthing sleeve. I used a simple connector block from Wilkos. Rigid piezos are way better that the cable ones as shown in my picture - the saddle doesnt wobble. The new piezo is a bit taller than the original one but i used it since it looks more robust. This means the strings are a bit high. The onboard tuner is brilliant - works very well. I didnt use the compensated saddle in the end - i hadnt noticed that the saddle is seated at a slant and I think this may be good enough. issues remaining - the saddle sits high and will need to be sanded down by at least 1mm - probably more. Bit concerned that this will reduce the already slim break angle even further - pictures tomorrow.

[/quote] yep - too much water under the bridge to be reasonable.You should have taken photos as soon as you got it back, just to prove you didnt knacker it, and no one else did since either. Still talk to the guy though, and see if you can hammer out a compromise. Maybe he was having some personal issues at the time and didnt do his best work. Its been known before.

i like the look of both and I do occasionally play with my thumb so it is useful when doing that. take it off if you don't like it.
