1. I'm hoping to do a few small gigs with a couple of guitarist mates (well one sings really well but only plays a bit). We don't have a drummer but thought we'd try a drum machine or software. We're after simple but reasonable quality. Software would probably give more flexibility in the long run, extra guitars, keys, horns etc. Anyone gig like this? What works? Graham

molan

Eventually got to Henley to try out molan's Modulus VJ. Had a very pleasant hour trying out various bits of his gear and basses. I even bought the VJ too. Top marks for molan. The bass is great, even better condition than described and molan makes a great cup of tea. He was very helpful in waiting for me to find a day to travel over to try the bass. Very friendly and helpful and a great guy to deal with. A very happy Geejay.
3. I'm in need of a smallish pedal board, power supply and carrying case. The Warwick RB23100B (£69 at GAK) seems to fit the bill. I've tried reading reviews on Harmony C and elsewhere and they seem to range from very good to very poor, mostly based around giving neutral sound or badly colouring the sound. Poor sound could of course be due to connecting leads/ order of effects etc. Anyone with experience of using these or other suggestions welcome. Thanks Graham
4. Wow, Looks lovely. With a hard case I presume? Graham
5. Lovely looking bass. Where are you? PM on the way.
6. Lovely looking bass at a decent price, always fancied a Modulus. Sadly it will take a while before my funds allow (or my talent justifies). Graham
7. Finally managed to get to Jim to pick up my 3U rack case. What a great guy. He waited patiently for a two or three weeks whilst I sorted out some family illness problems. The rack unit was even better than described and included a full set of mounting screws. One happy geejay

11. Hi Try allparts.uk.com, they list some. Also touchstonetonewoods.co.uk have various bass, guitar and other instrument parts but not sure about headless. I've seen some on ebay in the past. I've been trying to pluck up the courage to build one for some time. Good luck. Graham
12. I've missed building my own cabs and decided to rectify the problem. I fancy a 1x12 and a 1x10. I've built a 1x15 (tuned port) and a 1x12 (vented) from WEM plans but would like some thoughts on good ones to try. I'm looking to cover about 300w each at 4ohms to give me headroom for my 500W into 2ohms head. I'm also interested in the horns used in the omni cabs. What are they and what are they rated at? Are they used with a crossover? I would like to fit a horn into one of my existing cabs. Geejay

Good morning

Hello and welcome. I too like Dorset, many happy memories. GJ
14. Hi, I've been looking at projector bags for my amp. Got a really nice one very cheap off ebay but it was about one inch too short for my amp. Fits my son's games console though. You might try some of the other amp manufacturers, but if I'm not getting one that's made for my amp I'd rather get something cheap.

16. Thanks for the suggestions. I shall certainly go back to eating more bananas. I had been wondering if my problems had been due to playing my guitar!, arching my fingers and causing problems on the ends or playing my fretless Status too much. It has a wider neck than my narrow Washburn Bantam. It was probably a combination of all sorts but I'm resting and just playing a little now. I'm using my time to sort out some of the gadgets I've bought recently and also to try and improve my rhythm feel and reading of awkward scores. It has forced me to take time out from playing and so looking at the structure of the tunes is good and working gently through some new ones too. If it carries on I'll even manage to find time to do some transcribing so some good will certainly have come out of it.
17. Hi All, Three or four weeks ago, about an hour and a half into our usual two hour rehasal my left forearm cramped up, I got pains in my left had and it too cramped up. I last had this when I first started playing with another band about ten years ago and was very nervous and tense. This time I had problems sleeping that night due to the throbbing and tingling pain in the ends of my first and second fingers on my left hand (fretting hand). I thought it would happily go away but a couple of days later the numbness was still there. My wife cheerfully said it sounded like what a colleague of her suffers from Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. Next day I was round at the doctors having all sorts of pins dragged across my fingers and palm of both hands. The doc said it was not the dreaded CTS but I had damaged the nerves in the ends of my fingers and would have to stop playing and allow them to fully recover. So no band now for four weeks, fingers getting better and I can play a few tunes without problem. Tried my acoustic guitar today for a change and ouch! End of finger problems back. Has anyone had similar problems with nerves in the fretting hand fingers? I'm getting bored not playing but I don't want to cause permanent damage. Any thoughts or advice gratefully received. Geejay
18. Bought Steve's Boss RC20XL looper together with his Red Onion switchbox. Steve was great to deal with, really helpful. The gear arrived promptly, was well packed, worked properly and is in even better condition than described. Thanks Steve. A pleasure doing business with you. Graham

20.
Mint Jam is a live Yellowjackets recording and absolutely marvellous IMHO. Enjoy!!
Thanks for that. I'll check it out.
21. Hi, I'm just sorting out Matinee Idol and as I'm not familiar with the Yellowjackets work as a whole I wondered if anyone out there in Basschat land could recommend a CD. It doesn't have to have Matinee Idol on it I'd just like to get a good flavour of their music. Geejay
