1. This looks superb!! I'm only in Birkenhead (liverpool) so It's a few train journeys away. I'm definatly going, may bring my Girlfriend too (who is a fellow bassist). I'm all worked up now
2. I started having Double Bass lessons, which sorta helped. As well as playing a little piano. I can't Sight read (i assume sight reading is being able to play whilst reading) with notation, but I can with tab. I find it a lot easier if there's tab and Notation above it, that way i can use the notation for the timing, and tab for where to put my fingers, i have no problem looking at both things at once. Anyone else like this?
3. Aeroplane -RCHP Stuart hamms bass solo Audioslave - Cochise just owns on bass! Bombtrack is great intro - RAGTM Bullet in the head has a great solo
4. Thankyou, a lot of people say i'm almost Over-enthousiastic at times. I have to aggree
5. Stonewood bass with Rotosound strings I also have a Raypierce with whatever strings came with it
6.
Tell your Stepdad that Jazz's can be just as cheap as Precisions The Vintage Modified series does look impressive for low bunce! A precision isn't gonna give u a Timmy C or Flea sound........a Jazz will! Seeing as they both use them Si
That's what I thought, he seemed to think it'd suit my style more. I'll bug him a little for it =] Are Gibson bass's as bad as people make out?
7. Thanks, i was looking at Fender Jazz's but they we're out of my price range (obv). My stepdad think's id be more suited to a precision. Do Squire do them? and I never realised squire did Bass's as well as guitars (i have a stratocaster Squire)
8. Thankyou, I hope to become active and i'll contribute what I can ^_^
9. I'm 15 years old, only been playing bass for a year and a bit. I'm on my way to buying a third bass, but looking around the £200-£300 price range. My parents have agreed to buy me one for christmas Are there any reccomendations? My playing styles are Mainly Funk + Metal (aka RATM + RHCP). I prefer 24 fret to 19 but obviously i'm willing to sacrafice for the better model's. plus, tips on buying will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
10. Hey, my names Ash. Let me tell you a bit about myself I'm 15. Live in birkenhead I've been playing bass since April 2006 so not very long Most of the people I've met either call me a natural or assume i've been playing for several years so i think i'm quite good (being very un-modest there ) I currently have 2 Bass's (soon to be 3) A Ray Pierce 19 Fret. A Stonewood 24 Fret. My practice amp is a Drive 20 Watt My Gigging amp is an Ashdown 350 Watt My playing styles are a cross between Metal and funk (think RATM meet RHCP). It produces some wierd (not always nice) sounds, however it brings a sense of individualism to my playing. I do, however enjoy music in general, and would be perfectly happy playing in a Jazz group. I was in a band from December '06 till July '07 but sadly had to quit since i moved over to birkenhead. I'm hoping to set up a band around here too. I've only ever done 2 gigs, so i guess that leaves me a little inexperienced. My other main instruments (in order of skill) are Singing. Electric Guitar. Keyboard. Double bass. Euphonium. Tabla (indian drums). According to peers, I'm quite fast + Accurate but i miss flowing between notes, if anyone would kindly provide exercises I could to to help that. dont hesitate. Any more questions I will be more than happy to answer. And for those wondering, I spilt toffee yogurt on the very first bass i picked up, which earned me the nickname "Toffee"
