  1. For sale, a Jule Monique preamp in excellent cosmetic and functional condition. There's so much written about these that any comment from me seems fairly pointless - possibly the most desirable valve front end for bass out there? I've had this, a Noble, a DB680 and various other valve pres and for me, the Monique is the most versatile and useful. Quality is off the scale as one would expect - boutique, hand-built and lovely in every respect. This one has been re-valved with premium valves by a previous owner. I'm only selling as I don't use it. Weird I know, but I prefer SS pres and have a PR40 that's always on. Just one note, and for full disclosure, there are a few faint marks in the paint at the bottom of the left side panel - please see image, though the latter exaggerates a little (a screwdriver slip?) - it hasn't bothered me and I'm pretty obsessive about such things, but the marks are there. Collection in Manchester would be much preferred (an esoteric pre full of exotic glass). I can ship if required (very carefully packed) but at the buyer's risk and expense - obviously, with insurance. No trades or offers thanks - the Monique is now very expensive indeed, and not too easily sourced. Any questions, please just ask.
  2. For sale, a Hipshot Kickass 4 string bridge in Gold - unused and in excellent condition. This has just been stuck in a drawer for years. The bridge comes with screws and spares. Collection in Manchester or I should be able to ship in the UK fairly cheaply. Any questions, please just ask.
  3. For sale, a Hipshot Kickass 4 string bridge in Chrome - this is in excellent condition, and unused as far as I know. It’s been stuck in a g drawer for years. It comes with spare saddle inserts but only four screws(?) - I suspect any buyer would use the original bridge screws anyway in any replacement scenario. Collection in Manchester or I can ship in the UK at cost. Any questions, please just ask.
  4. For sale, a gig-bag for Explorer and Thunderbird basses - supplied by Thomann - the item number is: EXP-BG20.6R/6. This was bought new around three weeks ago (£36) and has only been used to store a bass for a couple of weeks. Essentially, its about as close as one might find to a new bag and still has its tag. Collection in Manchester is good, though I should be able to fold and ship for around £6 (at the buyers risk and cost). Any questions, please just let me know.

  5. For sale, Status bag for a Streamline, though I'm pretty sure that this will fit a number of stick/cricket bat style basses. This is almost new and has only been used to store a bass. Cheap and cheerful - there's some padding but the bag is fairly light overall. Collection in East Manchester or I should be able to ship in the UK for around £5 (folded and wrapped in strong plastic). No trades or offers thanks - any questions, please just ask.
  6. For sale, a Gator heavy duty bass case - I'm pretty sure that this is an earlier version of the current GTSA-GTRBASS ATA Moulded Case. However, the insert/foam lining is burgundy rather than black. I've sold pretty much all my long-scale basses so I'm advertising quite a few bags and cases. The case has some small scrapes from use, but no cracks and is structurally entirely - the interior is pretty much perfect. I've only used the case for storage. The cheapest that I can see these on-line is £145 so hope that the price is reasonable. Collection in East Manchester is preferable, but I can ship at the buyer's risk and cost (around £20), though if may take a day or two to find a box. No trades or offers thanks and any questions, please just ask.

  7. For sale, a full flight case, fitted for a Gibson Ripper or Grabber in good condition. I've sold pretty much all my long-scale basses so I'm advertising quite a few bags and cases. The case was a custom build by Bird Brothers in the North of England in the early '80s - at the time, the company was one of the UK's leading suppliers of high-quality, bespoke flight cases. The foam was replaced more recently by BSH cases in Manchester - an excellent job in very high density foam. The case has some marks from use, but is structurally entirely sound and the interior is pretty much perfect. Collection in East Manchester. I can ship at the buyer's risk and cost (about £20), though I'd need to find a box which would take a day or two. It's also worth noting that the case is fairly heavy (it's a full, touring-spec aluminium clad flight case!) - I'd estimate around 11-12kg. No trades or offers thanks and any questions, please just ask.
  8. For sale, a Mono Vertigo bass bag in excellent, almost new condition. The bag has been used only to store a bass. I've sold pretty much all my long-scale basses so no longer have need for the Vertigo (I'm advertising quite a few bags and cases). Collection in East Manchester, though it may be possible to ship (without a box - I don't have one) - at the buyer's risk and cost. These are very impressive bags and seem to retail between around £220 to £250 in the UK. No trades or offers thanks and any questions, please just ask.
  9. Personally, I'd go for TI Jazz Flats (JF324) - gauges are: 43, 56, 70 and 106. Many find the string to have low tension/high compliance - this is something that I find attractive, though others may not.
  10. Longshots in a pub carpark in East Manchester this afternoon. Bass player with a Capri Orange P and a fridge. Respect!
  11. Very serious professional kit - reassurance rather than overkill in my view. Lovely bit of no nonsense industrial design
  12. Best Jazz necks I've played - and that's a lot. Wonderful basses, I just wish the body curves/contours were a little more dramatic and organic. I really like the colour and MHS on this - really quite rare
  13. What an extremely kind gesture! There are some lovely people on BC
  14. Clear CT references but a unique take. Lovely choice of timbers and woodworking. Is the lacquer sprayed or brushed - it looks quite deep (though it could just be the Spanish sunshine reflecting in the finish!)?
  15. That looks like a superb fretless conversion! Do you know who undertook the work?
  16. Thanks Dean, I'll reply in a personal message again
  17. Thanks Dean, I've sent a Personal Message
  18. This looks like a real bargain - difficult times but I’d be surprised if this hangs around. Quality, versatile workhorse amps
  19. Really sorry to hear this but good that you’ve had positive responses from BF and GSS. I hope you’re soon up and running again. An important lesson. I’ve rarely damaged my own gear, though have had it damaged via the carelessness/stupidity/anger of others. I’m very careful re: who gets near what now. I’ve been using a Baby Sumo with a few higher-end pres for a couple of years now. Very impressed. Not like using the power stage of an Agi DB750 (a personal favourite), but solid and responsive
  20. Clear references but uniquely yours. This should balance much better than a standard EB3 (I'd hope). Quite an understated look but some lovely timbers. Very impressive - something genuinely different! 'Really sorry to hear about the arthritis - horrible and I hope you're able to find a solution
  21. Price reduced to £90 collected. Purchased from GAK or PMT (or suchlike) around 18 months ago. Used twice for about an hour and then popped in a cupboard. Something else I thought I needed but didn’t. The presets and effects are surprisingly good, as is the volume. Pretty much entirely as new. The only flaw I can find is a crease or mark in tolex on the top left hand side at the back. The amp was like this when I received it – I think the tolex has just been poorly applied in that spot. Collection in Manchester at present, though I may be able to ship if I can find a box. These seem to go for £199 pretty much everywhere, so I hope the price is fair.
  22. Hahaha, I couldn’t resist another one. That red one is absolutely stunning – almost like new from what I remember. It’s also a very good weight. My current one is reasonable but some are really chunky. Fantastic basses
  23. There aren’t too many of these around so I’d suspect most haven’t had a chance to try one. I’ve had four (and still have one) and for me, they’re amongst the finest Precisions around. Build quality is usually excellent, with real attention to detail – this was the Dan Smith era. Body contouring is often superb – a return to the dramatic curves found on some earlier Ps. The only downside for me is that they tend to be heavy. This looks like a real bargain despite the compromised circuit.
