1. Mmmm... yummy & nutritous! Have a bump for a tasty piece of kit.
  2. I saw this on the bay and was quite tempted by it. My first bass was a hohner it was pretty solid. I think you've done alright for £60, it'd be more than that in crack converters.
  3.
What case would you be sending it in mate? A G&L one?
Nothing that flash, I'm afraid. I was throwing the case in as part of the 'shipping deal' because it's mega-solid and will offer sweet protection whilst in transit. It's also pretty weighty. It's a black, oblong, ABS affair with a few stickers and if (IIRC) a bit of blue spray paint on it. If you wanted to clean it up it shouldn't be difficult. Structurally & fittings-wise it's A-OK. Thanks.
  4.
Can you tell me what the heel width is please?
Well, here I go. I don't know if these figures will mean anything, and i measured then using a steel tape measure. The heel pocket looks about 70mm from bass side to treble side. The body wood is 25mm thick at the heel, and the neck wood (inc f/board) is also 25mm at the heel. Are these figures what you were after? I apologise if they're not. Thanks.
  5.
Can you tell me what the heel width is please?
I'll have a look/measure tonight, and post it tomorrow. By 'heel width' do you mean from 'bass' side to 'treble' side, or from back of heel to the front of the fretboard. I've never been asked about heel width before! Thanks
  6. I don't normally like 'widdly sh!t', but I thought that sounded OK. Gasp, it could even be used to good effect in a song!
  7. Have a bump for what looks a good deal at £150.

    G&L Basses

I've got a 5 string tribute up for sale at the moment on here. They're rock solid; and as most of the controls are passive, you've still got a good amount of tonal control if/when the battery dies mid gig! Obviously I'm a little biased though.
  9.
Hey lovely Bass, I dont suppose you could send over some sound clips of it? Ive never reeally heard G n L yet! Cheers (bumpin)
Erm, I don't have any sound clips or any way (that I know) of recording any. Does anyone have any G&L tones ready recorded that I can borrow? Preferably from a G&L with an ash body, and a maple neck & fingerboard? They'd be muchly appreciated. Thanks.
  10.
Has this not gone? Surprised. For anyone lusting over a SR5, this is a similar sound for half the price!
It's still up for sale.
Couldn't agree more. Must be the best value Bass on the market, (except the Spector Euro 5 I got brand new for £499). It'll do Stingray, Jazz and P-Bass. No need to carry different basses around.
This credit crunch is obviously hitting us low-enders hard
Kinda annoying that it's still here because I'm waiting to sell mine now and don't want to tread on the toes of this listing because mine's a fairly similar colour!!
That's extremely civilised noisedude. After all, we don't want a price war.
If this was a 4 stringer I'd be resisting the overwhelming temptation to get the wallet out!
Don't look at it as a 5 string; look at it as a 4 string with a long (and versatile) thumbrest.
Too right. I bought yorks5stringer's spare in Sunburst.....absolutely fabulous bass. In truth, the ash/maple one would be my first choice, they look great. If you've still got it when I win the lottery this weekend, I'll give you a nudge. Other than that, have a free bump on me.
If you win the lottery, the price'll go up. If you don't win the lottery you can have it for the prices quoted above. It's hard to believe, but your life could actually be enriched more if you don't win the lottery! Thanks for the input (& bumps) guys.
  11.
Man that's one sexy bit of kit!!! I wish I knew you had this when you bought me Cirrus we could have done a trade mate!!
If I had better timing I'd turn pro!
I have the Usa version of this bass in sunburst, it has a great sounding pre amp & pickups. The B sounds nice & fat too.
Cheers dude.
  12. Not that I want to cause offence, or cast uneccessary aspersions on this photo, but it does look a little 'doctored' to me. Everything's blurred except the bass and it's strings. Maybe that's just how the photo panned out, and I'm no expert. Am I the only one who thinks this way?
  13.
BUMP for an awesome bass, i just bought a 4 string version of this (same finish and board too!) from stingray fan and they really are amazing basses for the money, they play and sound absolutely fantastic. They've got a real chunky growl to them, brilliant. Good luck with the sale
Thanks for the boost BB.
and a bump from me. mine is identical!
...a man of good taste I see! It must be something in the water 'round these parts.
  14. My G&L Tribute L2500 is up for sale. Here's some specs I borrowed from the G&L website: PICKUPS 2 Fullerton-made G&L Magnetic Field Design humbucking pickups BODY WOOD Swamp Ash (a 2 piece body on this particular example, I'm led to believe) NECK WOOD Hard Rock Maple with Rosewood or Maple fingerboard NECK RADIUS 12" (304.8mm) NECK WIDTH AT NUT 1 3/4" (44.5mm) TUNING KEYS Open-back traditional tuners BRIDGE G&L Saddle Lock bridge, string-through-body configuration. Nickel plated die-cast saddles. CONTROLS G&L Tri-Tone active/passive electronics, 3-way mini-toggle pickup selector, series/parallel mini-toggle, preamp control mini-toggle (off/on/on with high frequency EQ boost) Anyway, here's some piccies: I think she's quite a looker! I'd describe the condition as perfect, as I'm not aware of any dings, dints, scratches, buckle rash etc... and I checked it yesterday! I had the bass set up by Steve Robinson (Manchester Guitar Tech), who also replaced the plastic nut with a bone one. Other than the nut (& strings), everything else is factory fresh. Plastic cover still on the control plate, it has left my house twice in it's life (once to see Steve!). I bought this bass 2 years ago, and a couple of months later switched to mainly 4 strings owing to a lead guitarist departure in my (then) band. I haven't seriously played 5 strings since, but the GAS machine trundles on and I need funds. I remember a (virtually identical) L2000 was for sale on here recently, so I'll price mine in line with that: £400 with hard case & next day courier delivery or £350 without case & delivery (ie you pick it up in person) If you have any questions or want more piccies, feel free to PM me. I'm only online for about an hour per day, but I'll answer any (ensible) PMs I get. Thanks.
  15. I'll be getting one of those white classic vibe jazzes. Oh yes.
  16.
if anyone can recommend or use a bridge apart from a Badass that fits.
I've got Gotoh 201B bridges on a couple of my babies. You can get them on ebay amongst other places. Much like fender's new 'high mass vintage' bridge, it's a beefed up version of the old fender design.
  17.
..real turd polishing territory.
You can't polish a turd, but you can stick a flag in it!
  18.
I will see what I have got, I fear many have been tucked away somewhere! I will look 'em out for you.
Bo! Actually, I've got a few ernie ball stickers lying around somewhere, the kind that look good on guitar cases (or guitars, if you're brave). I once helped myself a little too enthusiastically to them at a guitar show. I'll dig 'em out.
  19. I used to have a hohner steinberger copy. I didn't notice any 'fretting hand errors' as a result of it being headless. It also stood up well against amps (without assistance!) and didn't get bashed like a headstock does (roofs, hardware stands, walls, drummers..). It's a shame it looked so dorky; though I'd probably get over it if someone gave me a real steinberger, or I saw one dirt cheap. Definitely iconic.
  20.
I have ..... copious amounts of stickers...
If you ever want rid of any nice ones I'm your man!
  21. I bought a bass off Wooks which arrived today: A) In the described condition Nicely packed & padded Good show Wooks!
  22.
get an SX..... you`ll love it
I ordered an SX precision online on Sat 28/06/08. It arrived with me on Thur 03/07/08. I somehow managed to avoid being stung by customs (that I'm aware of), and the total cost to my door? $192.64! I'm very happy with it as well. For a fender-esque bass around the £100 mark, SX basses are worth checking out.
