Couldn't you use generic pots like the ones available from allparts etc.. or are the ones in your bass unique?

The bridge could be iffy, or in the wrong place. Or both! The bass is a Cort [url="http://www.accord.net.pl/sklep/popup_image.php/pID/194?osCsid=9d6b3d36b36087d64237e6ebed89296c"]GB99[/url] This is the best pic of the bass I could find, though it shows a different bridge design to the one I've got; so isn't that much use. I've put some new strings on it and am waiting for them to settle. I put some D'Addario EXL165 strings on, and on the E string the outer wrap starts [b]after[/b] the nut if I string it through body. So now I've got the E top loaded and the other 3 through-body! What a can of worms...

I've had a Dean DB95 (5 stringer) for over 10 years, it was my first 5 string! I think it was a precursor to the edge series, and I think it ain't bad at all. Going on that, I'd say the Edge series should be really sweet! I've only ever read and heard good things about them, decent spec level as well for the money. Maybe people get put off the Dean marque because of it's heavy rock/metal associations (Dimebag, Mustaine [i]et al[/i])?

I've just been sorting the intonation out on one of my basses, and on the E, A & G strings it's sweee-heeet! However, the D string seems to be a bit random; the saddle has virtually dropped off the end of the screw to get it as close as I can to being right, and it's still not spot on. I've taken the saddle back the other way, but that just takes the intonation further out, as you'd expect. I suspect the strings could be a bit cheapy-sh!t; do you reckon this could be the cause of my spurious intonation? Any ideas? Cheers.

I used to have a Boss GEB-7, but sold it for £20 on ebay. I think it was one of the Japanese made ones as well!

I picked up a mid 90s USA Axcelerator 5 string for about £175 (inc P&P and case) off ebay last year. I've seen a matching 4 string go for just over a hundred on ebay as well. I nearly had a matching pair! It's got an 18V active circuit, 35" scale, and is quite light as well! Couple of dings, nothing major. It instantly became my primary gigging bass because: a) it was so cheap, and, it's bombproof. I know this isn't helping your search but I thought I'd gloat a little. Never thought I'd be gloating over a peavey; proves how wrong you can be!

I did consider a real deal MM bridge, but they do appear to be very rare. [color="#0000FF"]rodl2005: AHHH I see!!!! What about allparts or Warmoth???? [/color] I've checked both out; no joy I'm afraid. I can't believe something this basic hasn't been addressed before. Back to the drawing board I guess.

Does anyone know of a 4 sting bass bridge with a massive bassplate? Does anyone make custom bridges? This is the bridge that came on the bass, and I was thinking about upgrading it as it's pretty flimsy (unlike the bass it's on, which is pretty nice). So, do you know of any bridge that will cover up the holes left in the wood from this behmoth? Through body stringing would be nice as well, but hey; one thing at a time. Thanks in advance.

They're about £21 for 3 sets (inc P&P)!! 45-130 or 50-135 guages. At these prices it's got to be worth a punt, unless anyone's got any horror stories about them? I bought 2 triple packs and have only got one set left (I do have three 5-stringers to put them on though). Didn't get stung at customs either, which was nice...

+ another 1 for the Grolsch straplocks. Everyone I know who plays guitar or bass got a handful of 'em from me last time my local wetherspoons had Grolsch in stock. I got some schallers (which I've still got somewhere) with my first bass & strap, but they seemed a right faff. I saw about the Grolsch in an old copy of bassist mag, and I've never looked back. Indeed, they're good value as well!

I'm moving house, and my stack needs to go. I'm looking to sell it or swap it for a combo. Maybe a bit of cash adjustment either way on the trades front, but I'd want at least 250W of power in the combo. While I'm 'hanging my dirty laundry' from the 80s out, I heard 'love & pride' by (Paul)King today; and that bassline seemed quite tasty as well. I remember liking the song at the time, but being about 4 years old I had no appreciation of the bass. Get some!
