1.
They came as standard on mine.
Oooh, get you! I was asking because the only difference I could see on the ebay photos was the switch for hard & soft compression. Other than that, the units look the same to me.
  2.
Yes, yours is like the picture but there is an extra switch (boost) on the top plus a boost pot on the back.
Are the boost switch & pot 'standard issue', or optional extras? Cheers.
  3.
Not a million miles removed from a MIA Deluxe "P" They've got a "P" and the Double "J" style HB at the bridge - Same sort of Pick-up as the one used in the "Big Block" model. Nothing wrong with an P/MM It's like a back to front Attitude, too. They're HB/P...
That's what I just said, in the post above. Great minds are obviously thinking alike!
  4. Fender's USA Deluxe Precision has a p & (nearly)MM pickups: DLX
  5.
really thinking about getting one of these and i had a bit of a play today, but i like to get my thumb sunk in, is there a tasteful way to get a thumbrest, or maybe upgrade to a back pickup ???
I've been toying with the idea of putting a normal p-bass pickup in it's usual spot on my TB, it would give more sound options and give me somewhere to anchor my thumb. Or I can leave it as my "plectrum only" bass...
  6.
a quick search on Google would allow me to purchase one for £249 -
Where? I couldn't find 'em. Nice looking bass.
  7. Most bass players would agree with the general consensus. The phrase 'frustrated guitarist' springs to mind when watching a lot of solo bass junk on youtube.
  8.
Have you tried Right Guard? Keeps you dry and fresh for most gigging situations! Dave
No more el cheapo deordorants for me from now on. I feel better already!
  9. I know what you mean, I'm in the same boat. I was in a band for one and a half years, and was told after a normal gig that we were splitting up. A month down the line and this is on our myspace site: "Looking for a BASS player for new project!! Heya, Joe and Matt here from the hit and runs are starting up a new band and we are looking for a bass player to join. We have drums, lead guitar, guitar+vocal set up and we need a bassist to complete the 4-piece lineup. If you know anyone that might be interested, that is between the ages of 20-28 and male then please pass on this message. All members have been in bands with heavy gigging experience and we would prefer that the new bassist to have a similar experience, although it is not essential. Cheers guys; thanks for the memories. I've known the drummer (Matt) since I was 5! Anyway, I'm looking at sorting a new band out, but sometimes it does feel like I'm back to square 1. I've been talking to a guitarist who's a similar age & local, but has never been in a band before. Could be interesting. I suppose it's like the glass being half full or half empty, or a blank canvas; it's how you look at it. Starting again can be a pain, but I will have learned, and should be better prepared this time around.
  10. I think OBBM (on this forum) does cables, maybe he can sort you out? Drop him a line and get a quote: OBBM

    custom bass?

the wyre river website looks inactive.
  12. What about an ibanez? They're pretty light and ergonomic. Some of Cort's offerings will almost certainly be the same as ibanez I'd have thought. If you're going short scale, I'd suggest the Squier 'Badtz-Maru' bronco bass, purely on aesthetics. It has probably the best pickguard ever: Badtz-Maru
  13. I got a new L2500 from the bass centre for £410 inc P&P. It ain't half bad. Shame I can't play it like Ed... There's some alright deals on ebay from US dealers.
  14. My library has a VHS tape introduced by Jools Holland called 'introduction to bass' (or something like that), and Henry's the guy strutting his stuff on that same natural G&L. I didn't find it very informative, but if I was a beginner I might've. It did make me laugh though, especially some of the faces he pulls whilst playing.
  15. My old band (the hit and runs) supported the pigeon detectives at Selby Town Hall on 26-05-06. Were you doing their sound at that gig? Cheers.
  16.
I love the feel of the stingray, but love the sound of a P-bass. Call me crazy, but I just had to somehow make the two come together. Regards, Mark
That's that one settled then! I say good one for doing something different with a bass, instead of just adding stock upgrades. A P-pickup on a stingray would give a better positioned thumbrest, certainly for me anyway.
  17.
Jeff Berlin - he'll never be taken seriously by the music business until he shaves off that moustache.
Amen to that.
  18. I wished I'd stayed in last night! TRB gone cheap Not intact finish I know, but only 2 bids?
  19. Didn't Maggie Bell sing the theme tune to Taggart?
  20. I don't want to be rude, but it looks like a turd. No offence intended to anyone.
They also have the closet classic range which apparently has something to do do with Tom Cruise.

..help me out - i'm not clever enough to work this out on my own
Maybe it's where Katie Holmes puts the little fella when he's been naughty? That, or we're still waiting for him to come out?
  22.
I changed a fuse once in a Peavey combo. it's inside and you have to take the amp out. so it looks quite impressive and to the odd observer it looks like you know what you are doing. i thought the metal strips on top of the combo were for extra handles untill i found out they were holding the electrics in place.
Back in the day, me and my Dad used those metal strips as mountings for attaching extra handles to my old Peavey combo. Oops. It did make it easier to carry though..
