1. I've got one of these cabs and it's well versatile. Using it alone or with a 15" cab it offers loads of power and useable sounds. Then there's the legendary peavey bombproof construction!
 2.
I would leave this bass well alone unless you're looking for something you can trash with a guilt free conscience. The timber used is likely to be any old job lot they could get in on the cheap.
I wasn't planning on buying it, I just noticed it.
 3. I've seen a few different shades of gold, so that may force your hand if it doesn't match the existing hardwear.
 4. Here's his latest words to me: " yOU HAVE A GOOD POINT!!! MY MUSICIAN FRIEND SAID IT WAS GRAPHITE, SO ILE TALK TO HIM SOON AS I CAN FIND HIM. CHHERS FOR INFO." He concedes at last! "There is something funny about the neck: Have a look at the photo of the back of the headstock. see the join just above the first tuner?"; says merchant. It looks like there's a definite join there, but I'd have thought it would be easier to put graphite rods in from the heel end. I think it's just a cheapo construction method. That join could proove a weakspot. Quite a few basses feature graphite rods in the neck, but I don't reckon Gould would have gotten into that way of making necks. Or so I see it until proved otherwise..
 5. ladeprub's feedback is funny: "the w***er ripped me off" says smutt007. And rightly so. Obviously this is of no consolation to the ripped-off parties, but at least the flag has now been raised.
 6. I wasn't aware that (budget brand) Gould had branched out into composite necks. Oh hang on a minute, they haven't! ebay bass I sent this guy a message telling him the neck wasn't made of graphite, to which he responded with a single line: "The base of the neck is graphite". Nice spelling. What a toilet! Surely this is a misleading listing? Unless Gould have pioneered a type of graphite that looks like wood and is really cheap to manufacture; which I very much doubt. Any thoughts guys?
 7.
Hi all, I have two bridges for sale on Ebay, both originally from GB basses. One is for a 4 string, one for a 5. Both are used but in good condition. Here's the links if you are interested: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=014 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=014 Hope they go to a good home. STu
Are they designed for top loading or through body stringing (or both)? I couldn't really tell from the pictures. Cheers.
 8.
Hi OHM, Here's a link to my Musicman Sub 5 that is in the For sale forum: Musicman Sub 5 For Sale It's a great bass which is surplus to my requirements now as I have just acquired a Lakland DJ5 to go for a more passive, vintage jazz bass sound. But if you like the MM Bongo sound, then this might be for you as it has a specially designed John East active circuit that emulates the classic Stingray 4 sound but also has also has a sweepable mid e.q. control for further tonal flexibility! Nik
That Sub 5 looks flipping sweet!
 9. i used to get a peavey 8x10 in the back of a 1982 (Y reg) mk1 Ford Fiesta. I had to put the driver's seat forward a little too much though. I was only 17...
 10.
MB1. GOT ANYMORE YET?
Erm no, not yet. If you've PM'd me about one (which you have MB1) and I didn't have any left, I'll PM you when I get more to let you know. Cheers.
 11.
not sure about the sweeties though.
I've ordered bass and guitar strings from this lot, probably 4 or 5 separate orders, and they always turn up with bizarre American hard boiled sweets in the packaging. I kid you not. I thought it may have been a cunning way to fool customs into thinking it was a 'gift' package and not just something I'd bought off the net. If it was, it's working well. The white spearmint ones are pretty nice!
 12. I'm afraid these are the normal scale versions, so I don't reckon they'll be what you need. Cheers anyway.
 13. This was the closest thing I could find, which probably isn't that useful. Maybe they can help you out with specs if you contact them? Barnes & Mullins
 14.
I'll a set (maybe two) of the D'Addario EXL165 if your willing to wait till 5th September. Scorchin
PM'd
 15.
Cheers for the heads up. I've just purchased a batch, even though I don't play 5 string!
They do them in 4 string sets as well! I've bought them before and they normally turn up with a few American sweets (still wrapped) in the packaging.
 16.
I have noticed this myself on some strings, and that the silks are not wound to an equal length on the E,A,D & G string. I can't think of any reason for this not to be so, as whether they are on a 2 a side headstock (eg. Warwick) or 4 in line (eg Fender), the length from the ball end to the nut is the same on all strings. (ok, within a small amount maybe, like allowing for the shape of the Warwick tailpiece). The silks could be wound so as they all end level before the nut. I used to use Elites on my Warwicks and the silks stopped just before the nut, then one set I got, the silk on the E string went over. I thought this may have been a bad string so took it back and the dealer opened all the sets of Elites he had and they were all the same, shorter distance between ball end and silk on the E strings. Sloppy workmanship. Do Elites still have the red or black silk on their strings? I think I have bought a set that were plain.
I once bought a set of Elites 'player' nickel strings and they had no silks on them. The last set of elites 'stadium' strings I bought had navy blue at one end and red at the other end. I've noticed the silk winding sometimes creeping over the nut as well. My solution? Use a razor blade to trim the blighter back! Most of the strings I buy these days don't have silk windings, except for the odd pack of elites or rotosound.
 17. The quality of my playing is inversely proportional to how much I've quaffed. Me and the singer/guitarist normally make our drummer drive us everywhere, so I've had plenty of attempts at playing semi-wasted. Always the same outcome. Now I don't normally like more than 2 or 3 pints before going onstage. I leave the big-time drinking 'til after we've finished our set. I've even been known to order pints of shandy if there's a long time between us landing up and actually taking the stage.
 18.
Yes you get better gear for more money but at the end of the day the reason you won't go back to Peavey is because you will have joined the ranks of the 'Amp Snobs'
Very true. +1 for having a TNT as a first 'proper' amp. I then progressed to a Peavey rig that I've still got. Those 4x10 cabs used to cost close to £300! I say go for it, then tell us how you've got on.
 19.
I thought £7 for some Hartke strings on eBay was cheap, I'd go for it and just try them out.
I did as well, and was pleasantly surprised with the Hartke strings. Compared well to their D'Addario equivalents!
 20. Getcha metal spaghetti here.. D'Addario ENR71-5 half round strings for 5 string bass. 0.045, 0.065, 0.080, 0.100, 0.130 guage. Brand new in protective packaging. you'll be looking around £35 for these in the shops (£36.95 on stringsdirect!). I'll let 'em go for £16 inc P&P. SOLD SOLD SOLD D'Addario ENR71M half round for 4 string (.045, .065, .080, .100). The 'M' in the title signifies 'medium scale', which I wish I'd known before I bought them. I put them on my fretless and wondered why the outer winding was starting between the 1st and 2nd frets! What an eejit! Anyway, I've played one 2 minute song on them, and that's it. From what I've read, half rounds take a while to break in anyway; so these are vitually new. Remember: medium scale (32") £6 inc P&P. SOLD SOLD SOLD D'Addario EXL160-5 nickel roundwound for 5 string (.050, .070, .085, .105, .135). Brand new, still in protective packaging. £14 inc P&P. D'Addario EXL165 nickel roundwounds. (.045, .065, .085, .105). still in protective packaging. £10 inc P&P. I have a couple of sets of these. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. Thanks.
 21. I've got some surplus bass bridges up for sale. They'll be going on ebay eventually, but thought I'd stick 'em on here to save messing around unnecessarily. Here's the details: Badass 5 string in chrome. Bought for a bass of mine but never installed, so it's in flipping sweet condition! Saddles are completely unmarked. It comes with the 6 original mounting screws and original blister pack. These are over £85 on Thomann. I'll let it go for a bargain-like £45 (inc P&P) 4 String/2 saddle chrome bridge from my Squier VM Precision TB. It's designed for string through body loading. 3 screw mounting. Awesome condition, as it was replaced with a badassIII as soon as I got hold of the bass. Big brass saddles. £7.00 (inc P&P) 4 string through body like this, only mine is in a matt chrome finish. Again, bought for a project but never used and is in sweet condition. Good weight and solid construction. £10 (inc P&P) 4 string fender style bridge. Standard 5 screw mounting; used condition but fully working. £5 (inc P&P) 4 string fender style bridge. Standard 5 screw mounting. Brand new condition. £8 (inc P&P) If you have any queries feel free to drop me a PM. I can email photos if anyone's interested. Cheers.
