I rem these. Never seen them gigged. A local music shop got far too much stock and tried to make out they were the best bass amps ever. I went for a classic Trace instead elsewhere.
Kings of Leon have interesting bass lines? Dont get me wrong, I love them, But which songs have interesting bass? seams like a lot of route notes to me. I could be wrong.
Kings Of Leon - simplistic but flowing lines. On Call (cool slides), Charmer, Black Thumbnail, Ragoo, Slow Night So Long, Razz, Other bands: Me, my own band Oh...here are A Wilhelm Scream.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFcw8BDAmRc - live but nice tapping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0pZstkiTg4 - cool tempos and changes No one is too old for modern punk. Im 28. -
Oh heck! The idea of them seemed great. Strange cabs...but looked like they might be really good. A lot of manufacturers trying to take their slice of the lightweight market now. Personally, Markbass always seemed to be the leaders a few years back, so im sticking with them.

Decision decision! HAHAH....the new band ive joined wants me to start soon, so Id like to get one of the 12s at the end of the month.
I HAD a GS112, now own a AE112. TBH it took me a cuppla weeks to get used to the BERG, but once I did- WOW it IS far better IMO. YMMV. It IS louder & seems to be able to sound modern or vintage with applomb. (??) Well. :-) I've had a LOTTA compliments on my tone with this set up(LMII>AE112) I ALSO have a LMII & while the AE112 does have the top handle the LMII sits perfectly with its 2 front 'feet' on the metal edges of the handle-thus angling UP a fraction at front. NOT wierd at all IMO. I got a mate to sew a cover for mine & it's been fine- sure the lack of protective corners etc IS not as good as the GS112 was(I like carpeted cabs too....) but I actually have a spare set of 8 plastic interlocking corners I COULD put on it if I felt the need. With THAT much $$$ difference I'd probly not go the AE112 but here in AUS the Aggies are about the same price, so.........
Hey thanks. I know the GS cabs are mid scooped so its not such an issue. The DB cabs are much thicker and with no mid scoop. You can see what I mean about the prices though!
Yeah I think they liked the Aguilar the best as it sounded about as good as the Berg, but was cheaper. I think they gave a Zoot cab the value award when it was only slighlty cheaper than the Aguilar they seemed to love.
I'll have to try and find this review!
I've got a Berg Ae112 which I was using for DB and BG with a Shuttle 3 - 10 Combo. This was a great combination but just not loud enough for stage monitoring for the festival we did two weekends ago. After talking to Mark at Bass Direct, who is a top bloke by the way, I have bought a second AE112. The two AEs together are just fantastic. The new one has got very discrete metal corner protectors which would solve one of your problems. I bought both of mine with covers and the old one still looks mint after 12 months gigging and rehersals. All the best Steve
AH...I heard about these new corners, thats goof that it is true! I would love to test their tone...but Im really concerned about the massive price hike.
I run a pair of DB1x12s and though I'm doing pubs and clubs etc. I've never come close to finding the limits of this pair of cabs. I did have a scare a month or two back as I thought I'd trashed a driver but after fitting a replacement (care of our own WoT who had a spare Eminence 500w from a Schroeder cab), I established it wasn't the driver after all. It may be of some interest to various parties that WoT Marcus and myself did a little bash where we got together the pair of DB112s, Marcus's pair of GS112s and WoT's pair of Berg 210s... I'll ask WoT and Marcus if they put up a thread/comment on any of the Forums.
That would be brilliant. I'd like to know what you all thought, thanks. I have heard these little DB cabs can handle quite a lot for such small cabs.

BERGANTINO HS410 for SALE..MINT condition/cover
Musicman20 replied to geoffbassist's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
hey guys, just had funkymunky over to A/B this cab with his AE410....both sounded amazing, the ae was a bit more present and aggressive, hs sounded a bit more old school, whilst still sounding like a modern 410...it was great to catch up with steve and I was really impressed with how good these berg cabs are....... cheers geoff oh also discovered the castors pop in and out... :-)
Sounds like a fun test! Im shocked that I could basically not even get an AE112 for the price of this cab!... -
Righty, as it approaches the middle of the month, and thus the all glorious pay day at the end, I think Im going to get one 1x12 and start my modular rig. I really like the tone of my Markbass Little Mark 3, and I want something that is small and easy to move. I need to make some decisions about it! Decision #1 – Go with another Aguilar Setup, to it would be two DB112s eventually. Advantages = I already like the tone, I know what I’m getting, the handles are on the side thus I wont be plonking my LM3 onto a handle and making it sit funny, the Tweed looks great, the price isn’t so bad, covers are very padded, pack a hell of a punch for a small cab, modular. Disadvantages = Not light, I already have Aguilar gear so maybe this is overkill, not as crisp and articulate compared to the Bergs. Decision #2 – Go with a Bergantino AE112 setup, so it would be two AE112s, eventually. Advantages = The glowing reviews, lighter, Bergantino quality, very very articulate crisp and clear, nice and modular. Disadvantages = Handles are on the top, so you need to cut out foam or something to raise your amp, (seems very strange considering the amount you pay) I have seen a few guys lose a lot of money selling them on these very forums, (am I at risk of losing virtually half of what I paid?!) which leads to the other disadvantage which is expense, and in addition with their expense, I might not use them as much as I should through worrying about them getting knocked, etc, does not have the thick bottom end that the Aguilar’s have, nowhere near as many users in the UK, I can buy Geoffs HS410 for less than one of these!!!! In addition, the spray finish looks excellent, but no corners?! I cant see them withstanding a lot. Please don’t think I’m attacking anyone with the disadvantages, I’m just looking at it from my point of view.
Buy a Big One and be done with it
The only problem with the Big One is its size...it looks quite large. Weight isnt an issue with it, but size might be.
I'd add 2 Berg AE2x10's as something to consider long term... that way you have modular for the big gigs, and can downsize to one for smaller gigs. They are on my list to try as they would fit in my car as well.. and 40lbs ea.. I havel looked at 1x15 and 2x12 and they just seem a tad too big...but if I were to have a van that could carry what I wanted..then maybe I would consider bigger cabs.. but since I carry my stuff mostly in 4 lifts max..then that is a hard habit to break and weight becomes key...
Yeah, the 2 AE210s seem like a perfect solution, but WOW....would that be expensive. Far too much....If I was spending that much id expect absolute perfection. It would be much easier than an AE410 though

Itll sound totally different. You might like more you might not. Years ago I was told the Ampeg 8x10 was one of the best cabs ever. I bought one, and it wasnt. Unless it was really loud it was dull.

I have a friend who has the 75 reissue in natural with roswood neck. It looks pretty damn lovely. I used to have a thing for natural basses, but now I only have 1 (Stingray) and that is a stunning natural finish. I also have a USA Telecaster in natural and that looks awesome. I wouldn't get anymore now; I personally really like sunburst and olympic white. If I were you.....hmm....Id go for 3TS...

Aguilar DB212 Bass Cabinets On my ongoing quest for tone, I came across Aguilar. I only tested Aguilar cabs for a little while, and it was the DB112's. Lovely thick bass tone. These cabs made me really like 12 inch speakers Say what you want about the 'sound' of various drivers, but these 12s do sound great. Thick, throaty, and clear. Plenty of ommph! So, after realised I wasn't a huge fan of Ampeg 8x10's, I agreed a trade with Darren at the Bass Merchant. I decided on two DB212s, thus giving me the ability to have a 4x12 stack, but in a more portable form! They are both 8 ohm cabs. The colour was definitely the right choice. Chocolate Thunder looks great. Little touches like the gold seam on the brown grille cloth is great. They look like a work of art. Almost like the are furniture! They are NOT light cabs. They are approx 70lbs, which is not massively heavy, but really needs a two man lift. But, what you get in weight gives that awesome tone. I did not realise, but they come with removable casters! So, pop them in (a little stiff at first so push them in hard) and there you go. 70lbs is no longer an issue, and at no extra cost. Covers - The Aggie padded covers are essential to make sure your cabs stay nice. They are quite expensive, but try and work out a deal if you buy a fair bit of Aggie gear, I did . They are made by Tuki covers, and then branded with the Aguilar logo. The Tuki covers are renowned for being thick and reliable. This is indeed true! Padded, soft, and essential. Once you have casters on, and you handle the cabs properly with the covers, I can't see many problems. We did have a problem as the covers were the GS212 covers, so Darren quickly got another DB cover out and ordered me another one in addition. So, that's sorted. Soon they will all be complete Sound - With a LM3, I didnt think I was really pushing it like I would be with my Orange AD200b Mk3. Ok....once I turned up (one of the cabs, so 8 ohm, 300W into it) to around just under a third volume....PUNCH! This is why I wanted these cabs...and the LM3 really impressed me. Its thick, articulate, throaty, creamy, chunky bass tone! Definitely less tinny than 10s, and still with the whump of 15s. I tried both cabs together (500W) and I had to turn down to less than a 1/5 of volume....it was soooo loud and bassy....but NOT boomy...a tight fat low end. I must add, the tone was not only good for rock, it had a great articulate and precise sound. My Jazz bass right the way up the neck sounded so clear and crisp, yet would cut through a mix. The P bass was perfect, tone up and it cuts through and has so much whump! Knock the tone back, big fat thuddy P bass with 12s Horn - Full adjustable. Both cabs have a horn, so I turn one down all the way If I use both. Sweet horn! I only have it on low on one....but its perfect....not harsh....a nice sweet high end. I cannot wait to try the Orange amp through these cabs. Excellent
Oh, did somebody call?
That is stunning. I really like these Alleva's...the only thing competing in my mind is NYC Sadowsky. Anyone know how they compare? Alleva seem a little less common, which is kinda cool.
Totally recommend the 70s Classics. The bass in the pics looks like a Japanese 75 Re Issue with a retro fit Baddass.
Yep looks like the 75 Reissue. My friend has one...but he does not treat it like he should. Its a shame. Lovely bass...quite expensive....lovely growl.

I like it! I also much prefer my bass higher up. I used to have it pretty low...and it was fun....but I played awful sometimes. I find fingerstyle is much better with the bass higher up. Plus...I think its better for posture....or something.
Sadly, not very doom looking shiny modern cabs. Considering covering them in some sort of grill cloth to pretend they are oldschool. The sound is there, check the Caricatures recording I borrowed one for.
I bet the 12s are perfect for getting that sound though. I like a little doom/heavy rock n roll every now and then. Boris are sick.
