1.
New or secondhand price , Gareth ? Which way are they going ?
New, and up! Have a check on guitarguitar, etc.
2. Just noticed again yesterday how the prices have changed on these, more than likely a sign of the times.
3. I'd like to use Bass Gear in the new future.
4.
Will see if them have any Be Exotics in and then grab some pictures.
Sorry I meant Xotics as in the brand. Still interested in the Jabbas though
5.
They look great to me..... as do the X-otics as Super J type variations. Would like to get closer to one.. deffo.
The Xotics look fabulous.
6.
How else would it be done?
Haha, no idea...never had to do it/probably couldn't be bothered. Isn't it the same if you just use the can for a bit?
7. Is it wise to run that through an amp?! Personally I wouldn't bother breaking a cab in. It's not massively necessary. Hope it's ok!!!
8.
We have ridiculously similar tastes in our gear dont we
Ay!!!
9. I'd like to know more about the Jabba Classic 5 basses
10. I like it...cool shape. Do something with the hole and is be happy. Tones are basically a Big Al though....
11. I've no idea why GAK don't just invest in a decent website.
12. Lot's of curves being discussed on this thread!
13. I've found that P bass copies sounds pretty decent...seems hard to get that wrong apart from being really heavy, not so great to look at, and dodgy setup. Musicman copies are awful. Been there years ago...gross. Cheap jazz basses tend to suffer from a thin tone, from what I've experienced. This is just my experiences.
14.
Thanks everyone. I think I'd need to try both cabs side by side, but I think the OBC115 will be the winner for the moment. Plus, I think that tiny SP212 cab would like daft with that monster AD200B sitting on top!
Ay, that OBC115 is a nice cabinet. Plenty of bite and agression and also provides a nice pillow of bass.
15. I want to 'like' the PJ design, as it seems flawless, but I know it isn't. I always look at them, decide I want one, then stick to a P OR a J.
16. I keep seeing 'I bought a Stingray for £600' everywhere. If you did, and its immaculate/not modded, that's fantastic. I hope I see one! The market will be forced to change as a new Stingray 4 H is now £1600. The prices are across the board with virtually all shops. A 5 HH, with an uprgraded guard, will cost around £1800-2000 now. Add a matching headstock, and it's a little more. I was lucky to get my collection just before the prices went up, but if I wanted my Ray 5 HS with Tort guard now, its about £1800 or more. The Ray 5 is an industry standard 5 string for a reason. IMO, its a timeless design. One thing that I like about the Musicman 5 string basses is that the B is so tight and defined. It just appears very powerful, and even. This is probably because its usually a massive HB near the bridge allowing the pickup to pick up the tighter vibrations of the string.
17.
I stand corrected. Would that also be the PR300 then?
Hi, not sure sorry. This thread may help: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/genz-benz-nx2-212t-929725/index3.html Pics on Page 3. Strangely, higher wattage rating cf to the Berg 300W speakers, but then again the Bergs are not standard spec.
18. I'd stick with the OBC 115. The SP212's are better than you would think...I've tried one out for a fair amount of time. Works better than I expected. Very small and light. Let's not cloud the amp wattages, and EQ curves. The BT500 puts out a hell of a lot of power...and is rated conservatively. The AD200b is incredibly loud and rich. The EQ curve is easy to sort...push the mids.
19. The latest Genz cabs are Faital loaded.
20. I bought a massive box full a few years back. Most reliable and well built cables I've used.
21.
Shout if you want a pint
Sorry dude should have made plans for this. Only staying a day. Cheers all.
22. I'd agree that Rancid embody the modern ethic of punk. They are successful, and they probably make a big wedge of cash, but they've always done it their own way and written raw and catchy punk/ska. In my opinion, an extremely important era of music that influences me more than I realise, (and I wasn't born til 81).
23. I've given up using the Internet to search for bands. Believe it or not, my old band, who are 2.5 hours drive away, want to play a few weddings this year so I've agreed and ill tie the rehearsals in with family visits. Sounds ridiculous considering I live in a city with a lot of music, but I know the band in my home town takes little work and we don't need to rehearse much to be good. So far, 7-8 failed attempts in the North East. ALL time wasters and dreamers off joinmyband.co.uk.
24. Nice...let me know if you ever think of selling the HT112ER for an EX112ER.
25. Bass Gear think they moved South though. The North needs more!!!!
