  1. Thanks gents - if @Mastodon2 is correct that they are going to "sound broadly similar" that's actually a great starting point. I'm a bit more relaxed about Asian made basses - after all Apple make their phones in China. And Samsung, also Korean, aren't exactly a pants outfit! The one I'm looking at also has EMG HZ pups but the EMG B30 3 band preamp. I'm a bit of fan of 3 band EQs so that's a big plus. It's Bubinga so it's likely to be heavy but, combined with the neck through, should have good sustain. Provided it's 10 lbs / 4.5kg or less, then it could be a good entry point to the world of Spector basses for me. Hopefully won't have the same negative impression that the NS 2000 had on @WHUFC BASS! But worst case, as @ahpook has just posted, that could be solved with a pup upgrade, if needed.
  2. Hmmm... the Legend "Custom" I referred to is also a neck through (the "Classic" is the more budget bolt on model, I believe). Do your comments still stand when comparing with the higher end Custom version?

But isn't most of that price hike just shipping, £12 'handling charges', customs duties and 20% VAT?
  4. Have now managed to coax a response out of Fender, who have confirmed that the weight should be less than 10lbs - they said "8lbs to 10lbs" to be precise but I suspect it will be nearer the top end of the range. That, for me, is fine - it would be a very similar weight to my Yamaha BB 1025. Hmmm so a new Jackson 5 or a used Legendary Spector? Decisions... 😄
  5. Gents - if you don't mind me asking, is there much of a difference in sound / quality between the Euro 5LX and the Legend Custom 5ers?
  6. 👍 Gotta be the one of the fastest sales in BC history! 😎
  7. Damn that's tasty! Should cheer you up no end after being Man handled in the City and given a recent 5-0 drubbing. I might just have to do something similar 😁
  8. Oh no, you're adding GAS to an already explosive mix of exploding amps and cabs...
  9. ...besides everyone has missed the blindingly obvious point here: If you are pushing Paul in the direction of 3x10, why not 3x12?! That has just gotta sound awesomer; 44% more so if r2 is anything to go by. So sell your One10 and buy another SC...😁
  10. I refer you to my earlier post... If you really are intent (one way or another to misquote Ms Harry) on causing the end of life on the planet, could you be so good as to at least give us a few weeks notice?
  11. Speak of the devil... 😂
  12. So it doesn't actually work without resulting in a major melt down?! I know a chap who does good PI insurance....
  13. Delighted to restart Steve's (aka @mangotango) feedback thread; his last one having got lost in the mists of Site upgrade... Sold Steve a Squier Bass VI. He popped over to collect in person in timely fashion and we had a very enjoyable hour chatting music and bass (what else ?!) Due to his pointing out to me how good Spector Legend Custom basses are and that they are loaded with a 3 band EQ I've got a worrying premonition that my sale to Steve won't necessary result in a thinning of the herd! Super easy transaction and I'd be very happy to deal with Steve again and, being local, hopefully we we will keep in touch! Hope you enjoy the bass - and I look forward to hearing any inspired original creativity that follows!
  14. Please please don't do this, Paul, as it will cause a disruption in the space-time continuum in the Eastern Home Counties. And I don't live too far from there.
  15. The nicest BB 1100S I've seen 'in the flesh' is @bassfan's. Absolute stunner! I'm kinda glad that the early BBs are only 4 strings as that one, in particular, would have had me lusting! Am I correct in thinking that the first 5 string BB was the BB 5000 / A? Or are there also 5 string versions of the BB 2000 and 3000 series?
  16. A pair of Yamaha BB 1100s fretted and fretless both on at £250 starting prices: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BB-1100-S-Bass-Guitar-1980/223618965836?hash=item3410baa14c:g:zOUAAOSwKe1dTujY
  17. Can't work out whether that's closer to Robbie (Forbidden Planet) or Wall-E? 😀
  18. I checked out the Digitech Dirty Robot today. Had a similar reaction to @Jonathan Beepreviously had to it, which is broadly that it's a bit meh as a synth albeit, IMO, a very elegantly crafted piece of kit. Found there was a little volume drop-off in filter mode which was more pronounced than in 'synth' mode (and where I found there was very little vol drop off). Filter was not too bad, but not in the same league as the SA Manta - and given I have a Manta I can't really justify holding on to the Dirty Robot.
  19. Wise.
  20. Cheers, and I'm taking your advice about getting it into 'broken in' BB 2025 shape: it's currently my #1 goto gigging bass
  21. So something like this, right? Well as you've got my old 425 it would make sense for me make this one available to you also... Just kidding btw! No current plans to move my BB 1025 on
  22. Yup indeed - all used or end of line! Apart from the Fearless F112, which sneaks into the frame. That was purely 'cos I wanted a particular finish / grille on that cab (and it obviously also avoided the need for me to "chisel the various solidified secretions of the previous owner off before feeling comfortable" 😁 ) What's the make / model of your bass?
  23. Might just be a £50 bass which I assume is used rather than new - and a testimony to your negotiation skills(!), but it has a much liked reverse PJ config, which is a rarity on my fav brand of PJs (only seem to be available on the 4 string 'MA' Yammy BBs) although obviously a more standard feature on the (not £50!) Bergs.
  24. @Horizontalste just wondering whether you followed up on this earlier bit of banter and if you had any joy in negotiating the price down? If so, I could be tempted to follow in your footsteps (and get my stock of BBs back up to a full Trav 😂)
