..load all the PA gear into our boot, transport it to the gig, unload it (play for a couple of hours) load up the PA at the end of the gig back into the boot and then drive back and unload it back at home.

Because they sell you stuff you don't need and then kindly buy it off you again. This keeps Parcelforce and others very happy.

Opening post on this thread summarises: Buying from EU private sellers - 20% VAT from 1 Jan 2021 - General Discussion - Basschat

Simple point really: there's been a heck of a lot of doom and gloom on trade issues and the above was definitely one of them. I think we should have more faith in the ability of port authorities and business folk to adapt and solve problems. +1^^ Yup, unfortunately. Been discussed at length earlier on this thread and on the various buying from the EU / selling to the EU threads.

Stepping up from a Stagg EUB - recommendations please!
Al Krow replied to Al Krow's topic in EUB and Double Bass
But thanks, anyway, for the formula. What it does tell me is that a "3/4" EUB is actually an 85% EUB if we were going on scaled down volumes, but because they are effectively sticks, they're perhaps better thought of as 95% EUBs based on scale length. Lol! And the scale length of a "3/4" EUB is significantly closer to a full scale upright than a short scale bass (30") is to a standard 34" scale bass. Well I've learnt something new today! 😊 -

Well you've now piqued my interest(!) but I'm not sure about your formula... 3√(3/4) = 3*0.866 = 2.60 as your multiplicative factor? Scrap that! I think you meant 3√(3/4) i.e. cube root of 3/4 which makes better sense! -
And on a more positive note: "Jean-Michel Thillier, the head customs official for the Haunts-de-France region, insisted the Dover-Calais route is more attractive than in the past. French officials have deployed new “smart border” technology to beat chaos at their ports after the introduction of new post-Brexit trading rules. Trucks are flowing freely between Dover and Calais thanks to the system which, even with new paperwork requirements, he said his team of officers in northern France had managed to process thousands of lorries with ease." Probably just more dodgy propaganda from someone who doesn't know what he's talking about...best ignore him.

"3/4 size" is definitely a misnomer, isn't it, if full size is only a 6% bigger scale length! -
Like a lot of gear addicts on BC, I've got through a ton of bass gear over the years. The oldest piece of bass kit I still have, which I've loved from the day I bought it 6.5 years ago and also from Guitar Guitar, is my Mesa M6 amp. I still can't recommend it highly enough.

AH's key post on this starts at #22876 page 1144 on the TB thread, in case you want to save 20 mins browsing to get there 😁

11.05 pm on Jan 6th aaaaaaand I'm back in the game! BC buddy had a better offer for him to crush someone else's bits which we agreed he should take. It was going to be too much of a ball ache anyway.

Scale length is traditionally quoted as nut to bridge (certainly for electric basses) and they do all seem to be coming in at around the 41" mark! -
1.05pm on Jan 6th aaaaaand I'm out! Had an offer from a BC buddy to crush my bits for a very fair price which I couldn't resist. I'd best head over the Gear Acquisition Thread then... 😁

Sold Graham some Smoothhound wireless accessories. Fast payment, good comms and very much a pleasure to deal with. Hope you have as much fun and benefit from the kit as I did! Cheers, Bas

Sold Phil his HX Effects back to him to replace the HX Stomp he has just sold above, which he had kindly left with me for safe-keeping for a couple of months. We just like to keep Parcelforce in business for no particular reason. Usual smooth transaction!

The pics might be deceiving me, but does the scale length of the basses vary? E.g. my Stagg EUB has a 41.5" scale length. How does that compare to the EUBs that you guys have? -
This is like one of those competitions where everyone gets a prize 😁

Pete, I'm not familiar with SWR and Eden takeover stories. Who were the acquiring parties? But my point is that some companies can do takeovers really well and you've got some current successful real life examples given above, so it's based on track record rather than blind optimism.
-
That's a very pessimistic statement, Chris! You basing it on anything? Line 6 have thrived under Japanese (Yamaha) ownership. I'm betting it will be a better business decision than Sadowsky getting Warwick to make their budget basses...you know what some of these German engineers can be like with their emissions reporting don't you? 😁

The old SYB-5 or even older SYB-3? Agreed tracking on those is pretty poor. HOWEVER(!) their latest Boss SY-1 has better tracking than a deer hunter on steroids, in fact better tracking than just about any other pedal I've come across it's that good. Like the Monosynth the SY-1 is a synth "emulator" and not an actual synth waveform generator in the way the game changing C4 (and Future Impact) are. Also like the Monosynth all the adjustments can be done on the pedal itself without ever needing to connect to another device. The flip side is that you can't save your favourite synth sounds to memory like you can on the C4 or FI. It's not cheap though and they seem to come up used less frequently than the C4 and FI do. PS @uk_lefty very nice little review you posted!

You really need to stop pushing the boat out with such extravagant gestures Chris!
