Thanks for this, Gary. I confess I wasn't really too familiar with Corduroy but have checked out at least half-a-dozen of their vids on Youtube and you're right when you say "...think funky 70's instrumental theme tunes...". Great stuff! I look forward to seeing/meeting Richard on the day.

Sounds good to me, too. This one will run and run. Looking forward to #2.

I bought my Trace Elliot combo (GP12SMX, 300w, 1x15") brand new from the old Flying Pig store in west London back in 1998. I fitted Ernie Ball removable castors and also bought a made-to-measure padded cover from RoqSolid (green piping, of course ). A couple of years later I found a used 2103x (2x10" + 2x5") extension cab. Nice! The full rig has served me very well over the years though for smaller gigs I was using a Series 6 BLX80 1x10" combo - (80watts?! Yeah, and the rest...!). However, I finally succumbed to selling the BLX80 a year or so back. Trouble was, matching that Trace sound and tone. I tried a couple of others including an SWR WorkingPro 12 combo. Nice, but grossly under-powered, in my view. I ended up with an Eden EC15 180w combo which I have to say kicks some serious backside and is 2/3 the weight of the BLX, so I'm happy with that. At the moment, the Trace rig is getting a lot less use (which is criminal, really!) so I keep thinking maybe I'll pop it into the BC marketplace and see what happens, but every time I set it up it sounds so glorious, I just can't bring myself to do it.... yet!

Two thumbs up! -
Bernie was also a 'star attraction' at the 2010 London Bass Bash. Would be great to see him again.

What he said!

I use one of these. It's on wheels and has a pull-up grab-handle so easy enough to move around. If necessary, I can just take out the top half only which, to be fair, with a bit of re-organizing, I can get by with well enough. But I've rarely been at a gig and thought, rats - I shoulda brought such 'n' such....!
-
Just letting you know this does work ok for me. I'm taken to the first unread post since my last visit which also has a red separator line above it. Maybe something in your account settings?
-
Excellent! See you there.

My son bought me one of these: honestech Audio Recorder™ 3.0 Plus with USB Cassette Player I've not had a chance to really put it through it's paces as yet, but I've tried converting a couple of old demo cassette tapes to mp3's and it seems to do the job. One of my tapes was a tad 'wobbly' (recorded c.1982) so that's how the audio was captured. I gave it a second try and it did a slightly better job. Details here: http://www.honestech.com/main/audioRecorder30plus.asp

Cool! Just seen that 'Recently Browsing' is back.

Fair enough. It was simply that I'm constantly on email and I could see topic replies and decide whether I needed to go to Basschat right away or not. (If that makes sense?!). PM's - the only PM's I found in my email were from a fair few years ago. There was only the link back to BC, not the message itself. Maybe an earlier configuration? No matter - it was so long ago, I can't remember what they were about anyway.
-
Previously, I received email notifications when replies were posted to topics I follow. These emails would show the post text along with a link back to the topic on Basschat. I now see that these email notifications only include the link back to the topic but not the text from the post itself. Is this the only option with the new system or could the text from posts still be included in the notification emails?
-
Phew! I'd hate to think I broke the new website with my very first post...!!!
-
@charic Yes, I did wonder the same. The names list didn't actually pop up at all when I wrote the tags in my comment. Ah, just a thought - could it be because I wrote your name but forgot to include the @ symbol before it, so added it in afterwards...? That said, it's certainly working now.
-
Much congrats and well done to @charic, @ped and all those involved in getting the new Basschat up 'n' running. Ok... time to play around!
Impressive! some real 80's memories stirring themselves here. I seem to remember being "issued" with a black, bare wood finish TE 8x10 combo(!) from a hire co (think it was John Henrys) for a tour in '87. Looked monstrous, shame nobody could see it at the shows though coz the production didn't allow any backline on stage. So the poor thing sat in the wing next to a massive side-fill, which made it pretty much redundant! I've never seen one since. Wondering now if this might be the aging Hippytone mind playing tricks on me...
One of these, perhaps? This peeked my interest as I seem to remember seeing a TE 8x10 combo at the old Bass Centre (Wapping) many moons ago. Seems amazing to think that this big lump was rated at just 250 watts. (Mind you we are talking TE watts! )
