1.
I don't understand why they stopped the Sabre, that's ace!
Same here. And +1 on the birdseye!
2. Hi Mark, The album is called 'Streamline'. Bassist is Marcus Miller (who was only 19 at the time!). Another fave from the album is this brilliant cover of Lady Madonna with Chaka Khan on vocals. Enjoy, Steve
3. While on the subject of drummers... (apologies if this was posted previously...)
4. Haha, got in too late to put my own 2p-worth in but thought I'd just say the B.C. album is in my own vinyl collection too and is one of my faves by Mr B Cobham Esq. (Aside from the obligatory 'Spectrum', that is. ). Another is this. Some real 'jazz-funk' from 1974 from the album 'Crosswinds'. Could almost be a theme from a cop show! 5. Result! Good job all round and here's to the next one.
6. And one from one of Chieli Minucci's solo albums; Chieli Minucci - Kickin' It Hard
7. Chieli Minucci & Special EFX - Hip Hop Bop
8. Might be some Special EFX back in this thread somewhere but almost 40 pages is a lot to look through so I'll just post these here anyway. Special EFX - Bodybeat
9.
Have not heard this for a long time my love of Deep purple many years ago got me into what Tommy Bolin had done prior to joining them and so led me to this album and a lot of the 70s fusion stuff. If you get bored with the long intro the bass kicks in about 3.00...bassline sampled/copied by massive attack of course.
For me, Tommy Bolin's best stuff was his solo work, such as his album "Teaser" - plus what he did with The James Gang (especially the beautiful "Alexis"). After The Brecker Brothers' "East River", this is one of my favourite 'rock-funk-groove' numbers.
10.
can you tell I'm bored at work? doing lots of post at mo........ here's a Ray '79 - all the wear and tear is from my own fingers, thumbs, picks, etc, it was like new when i bought it in early '80s
That's nice!!! I do like a bit of mojo... And when I have nothing better to do, I often find myself flipping my '89 5-string to admire her backside!! 11. I can only echo the sentiments of others here. Sad news, indeed.
12.
Just picked this up today and thought I would share it with you. A long time coming, but it was worth the wait! I give up. Picture won't upload. Tips anyone? It's only 1.6MB....
Best thing is to use an image host such as Flickr, Photobucket, etc. Just copy the IMG code from Flickr, Photobucket, etc and paste it into your post. Sorted!
13. 12 pages indeed! As others have also said, I can't say I'm impressed with S&T, and even EB, in how this has all panned out so far. Not that I'm about to ditch all things MM because of it. I just hope this is resolved for the better for Gareth as soon as possible.
14.
No yet, EBMM are aware and are investigating. Problem is, I can't fault it when they are right. I love their basses.
+1 to that, sir!
15. Only just catching up on this thread, but having read it through, I can't really add anything to what's already been said. But I'd go along with Grand Wazoo's post re contacting EBMM/Aziah direct, which I see Gareth has now done. Hope they can add some serious weight to resolving this issue asap.
16.
excellent to deal with , would recommend 100% . enjoy the tokai tuners
Many thanks, Eamon. Fitted and good to go...
17. After posting some pics of a Tokai Jazz Sound, I mentioned how the one odd tuner that was fitted to the bass would likely be almost impossible to find. But within a few replies in that same thread, Eamon informed me that he actually had a complete set of the tuner(s) I needed. Result! Following a few pics to verify they were the same type, payment was made and I received the tuners a few days later. Many thanks Eamon!
18. Thanks for leaving any feedback here. Steve
19. Forewarned... as they say. Thanks H.
20.
Takes all the fun out of it
Not to mention the sound!
21.
Oops - sorry! Will amend the post...
Hehe, thanks Nik. And thanks to Mrs Nik for the slick pics!
22.
Yes, and I forgot me false beard
Aye, that be me - Cap'n Falsebeard! Yarr!!
23.
Stingray5 (left) & seashell (right) in the Jam Room Many thanks for giving me a mention, but I'm the one on the left! Was that a deliferate mistale? (PS don't work too hard tonight!)
Hey, yeah - I can't say I remember donning a blonde wig that day!!
24. Finally home and back online just to say what another good day the bash was. I must admit I'd made myself a promise to make it into the jam room this time and pretty much ended up in there most of the day but did manage to say hi to a few faces too. Particularly good to have Paul the drums there in the jam room and I have to say I was most impressed with Nigel's own drum skills (some wicked off-beat playing, dude! ). Not to mention guitar, too! Thanks also for letting me hog your Strat and pedal board for a while for some ethereal madness! We had some interesting stuff going down, along with Alex and Simon really pumping out some serious Barefaced bottom end... It was also good to see Shelley, the one and only female bass player there - and nice that she joined in for some jammin' fun. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks to Nik and Hamster and their respective missuses(!) for putting it together. Looking forward now to the next one. Steve
25. Oops, this'll teach me to not read a whole thread first as I just sent a PM to see if it was the same Steve Curtis (and Greta of the Strayshots) that I remembered from when I played the Country circuit back in the 80s with the band Firewater.
