oooo - I like that! Where did you get that p/guard from, or did you DIY?
There was some dude doing them on Evilbay a while back...but i couldn't find them again after a quick look -

Now then, Stingrays! i've owned several (Pre Eb, EB Rays, Ray 34, U.S. Subs 4/5) rays' over the years and eventually sold them all on at some point because i just could not get them to cut it live for me (with the exception of the Pre EB), plus I wasn't a fan of the neck width being more of a jazz man - yet i always loved the Stingray for home noodling, but definately too much of an expensive bass for home noodling alone. But conversely when I haven't had a Stingray in the group I miss them badly and always hanker after another (GAS) only to end up going full circle again. However, i think I may have cracked it this time! I bought one of these new Sterling S.U.B. basses and was hugely impressed with the build qulity, jazz widthneck too. Yes the electronics are crap but i hung out for a proper EB Pre amp and pick up (90% of the Stingray sound IMO )...and voila a great stingray which i much prefer over the US Subs and it keeps me happy in the Ray dept'...not keen on those slab bodies and odd finish of the US Subs either. ....and yes it does have a cheeky decal...i'm one of those that does ....ended up a bit of a 'bitsa' project after sanding the neck -
New cheap Marcus Miller endorsed range of basses - Sire
There are two long threads on Talkbass about these basses, and quite a few of them came from Thomanns (yes, the Americans had to get them from Europe for a while). A few of these did go back to Thomanns as they had slight issues. Hopefully those weren't put back on sale without the issues sorted out (nothing really major).
We'll see. I haven't cancelled my original order yet and I can always send the b-stock back if not up to standard I guess -

I just checked Thomann and had amessage that the bass I am after, the white/tort 5 string, will not be avaialble until July 2015 ....however, there was the model I am after as B'stock...so wishful thinking i've oredered that if i haven't missed it already -
Just wondering what stories people have when gigging a tad under the weather without time to sort a dep or cancel? I am pretty sure I had Norovirus yesterday, started puking intensely from midday onwards, bed bound...you get the picture. Anyhow I had a wedding gig later yesterday eve which I made but let's just say my playing was not even Tesco's value b-lines, I thought I was going to die - even the guitard carried my gear. Fortunately I didn't puke during the set, but I must have looked like a crack addict or similar. I'm better today, albeit achey, knackered and still staying in bed. It was a wedding, someone's special day and I couldn't get a dep at short notice - the show must go on!!!..I would not (in fact could not working for the NHS) give this level of commitment in my day job....financially it was good, but I'd have passed given the chance

I've already put the order in for my white 5er. Really looking forward to it too. -
Horny B Bass every time! Much smoother in my opinion than the ESP 206 that I briefly owned...although my ESP may have been a bad one
You snooze....You loose :-). There is a message on the Sire website saying the next batch should be released in May I believe, but I'd expect later. It sounds like they may be slightly different, at least the 4 string bridge. Let's hope they can keep up the quality without cutting corners.
Well I've just put my order in for a white/tort 5er so I'm in the queue

Out of stock? Various expletives & sh*tt*r! I think I've just got the wife to agree but I want a rosewood 5 ...hmmm patience I guess
As it's Easter, I trust you've bought her a shedload of chocolate..? That can only improve matters.
Lindt & Thorntons, no expense spared 😇 Are the 5er pick ups standard 5 string size?
Yes, a nice box of chocolates and flowers. Also, screen shot Thomanns page and Photoshop in a 25% Easter discount price and leave it open on screen ;-).
haha brilliant. I reckon I'm on the home straight with the wife now ....just got to sort out a few car issues first 😎

As this ones on the radar of her who creates internal bleeding from a glance alone I'm told she's now giving it 50% approval...still ambiguous territory, but I'm working my best psychological theory on her
Absolutely superb review, you should do this for a living. Joel, are you reading this? My swamp ash 5 string is in transit somewhere and I am even more eager to get my hands on it now! Sounds like the only mod I will need to consider is perhaps some Hipshot Ultralite tuners? Anything less would be an insult I think!
The 5's on my radar...but unfortunately on wifey's radar now too, just busted when looking at it, shortly followed the death look of doom. Do let me know how that low B is though ...It'd have to be the same colour as Discreets for me i think,...totally yummy (Hmm, wonder if Thomann do divorce lawyers ? )
