1.
This is a real shame as I love the Lakland and its a top bass but it does not suit me and I may consider selling it. I never thought this would happen as I love the Lakland brand but I'm not sure I will play her. The Fender just feels right and suits me tonally.
Wish i had chance to try a Lakland DJ4 before considering selling my USA 75 reissue. Its been great to read your reviews/comments. I am lucky to also have a Lakland JO5 which i really love for the deep reggae stuff i play, i love the feel and sound etc. I use my Fender 75 4 string for a funk ska band and have never been happy with the feel and tone (trouble is i can't feel confident funkin on my JO5 yet...particularly as we get pissed a lot when playing and i know i'll spank that B thinking its an E one day). I've put Bartolini's passives in the Fender to get a bit more warmth but it still sounds thin to me! I can't get with the varnished neck on the Fender either...i prefer the satin feel on the Lakland. My USA 75 is beautiful though and is different to the usual natural option too, it is Sunburst with a Maple neck with black block inlays...just like Familymans old bass in the Wailers....hence why i got it many years ago. I wish there was somewhere i could try a DJ4 or JO4 in the Southwest...and in order to buy one i'd have to sell my Fender first, tragedy could therefore prevail!. Don't get me wrong i love the Fender but saying the DJ4 has a deep bass sound sends shivers up my GAS. I've put the original black pick guard back on now unlike the pic that shows a tortoise one

    Ibanez SR500

I scored a quick 'buy it now' Ibby SR505 on ebay for £180 the other night. It has the Barts too. Just waiting on postage at the mo. I tired a SR505 in Exeter Mansons a few years back and have never been able to shift the experience out my head, despite owning a lovely Lakland JO5. So at £180 it was worth another argument with the wife! and taking her out for a meal
  3.
Mine's arrived. Good quality. Really pro design and it's even got my jammin' white P bass on it (well, apart from the scratchplate colour) I'm a happy bunny Thanks, Paul
+1 got mine last week, very cool and good quality

  7. Once finished a gig a few years a go with a funny covers band doing Lionel Richie's 'Hello' ...was totally perfect as our encore as we supported an AC/DC tribute band...you should have seen the crowds faces, talk about being as popular as a vegan at a hog roast...
  8. Aston 'Family Man' Barret from the Wailers, his sound is BASS And next week we're playing on the same bill as him in Falmouth...whoooaaa! A very proud time ahead
Yeah I meant the bit on the box looks slightly bent as though it's been aginst a wall for a long time - this exact same thing hapened to me with the same power supply to all my pedals and because they were daisychained my pedalboard needed to be true bypass or I needed to buy a new adapter (£20). Needless to say what I did.
Thank you for you commnets Mr. Pirate and i am glad to see that people are willing to ensure there are no rip off merchants, dodgy dealers, scammers etc within this great forum. As i thought i said before, there is absolutely no problems with the power supply or the Boss loop unit, it has certainly not been daisy chained with other effects or left leaning against a wall -i take more care of my equipment to do such things, it does not have any dodgy connections and works like new, and the power supply is most definitely not bent or defected in any other conceivable way either. For your piece of mind i have attached a new picture as the power supply currently is and certainly without straightening anything either!!! The unit itself has had about 10hrs use since new and potential buyers can buy in confidence, please check my B/C feedback at the bottom of the page . This is an absolute bargain at £130 for a piece of equipment that currently sells for £209 with G.A.K. and i am as equally happy to keep as to sell, but i feel lack of use warrants another B'cer giving the unit the use it so deserves so hence the good price for fellow bassers. Any concerns, feel free to PM or ask Q's-thanks you. Lee

  15. I like Sausage! Temporary Phase is a great tune. I also really dig that stuff he did with Bernie Worrel (Lordy what a player!) from P Funk and oh KFC bucket bonce on the 6 string annoyance. I noted the earlier comments about who's the best player: Flea or Les, Gordon Brown, Tomato Ketchup etc etc... well for what its worth i believe theres no such thing as who is the best bassists...there is just bassists (I felt i had Yoda influencing my thouhgts momentarily, please excuse me)....oh and emo bassists perhaps. Funny enough I was once asked who is the best best basser?.....i confidently replied 'Michael Schumacher' of course
  16. I stumbled across this thread, got hypnotised by a Bot, got the credit card apparently and ordered....don't remember funkin any of it until i saw the email from paypal just...strange things these bots...what about a RoboBootsybot...i could dig that.....or Rastabot (Red,Gold & Green)....could well put me back in that hypnotic state again!!!
  17. Good luck with your 5er venture matey! I've played some 5ers and found the low B's to be a bit 'flappy' on some basses and odd sounding across the strings, my old cricket bat Hohner B2A 5 springs to mind and also a cheapy Korean Spector that I once owned was similar. Having tried the 35" scale things were a lot better and the notes were consistent sounding on all strings. I feel Lakland have nailed this having previously owned a 5502 & now a JO5. I also remember trying an Ibanez SR505 a few years back and I really liked that and still have the GAS for one now. Having the low B though, has also been a god send for the Dub reggae stuff I do...I'm currently backing an artist called Daddy Teacha and his b-lines were all done on synth and go very loooow...lower than a 4er anyhow. However I find slapping on a 5 hard...but then I'm not very good at that anyway!
  18.
You don't know how jealous that pic makes me....
Not as jealous as me mate...thats not my DB!
