7. Up for sale is a great 5 string Ibanez SR 505-with Bartolini Mk1 active system (great sound imo), has a bit of paint missing by the neck pu where the previous owner used a pick apparently (Punk ?), ideally I'd like to trade for either a Jap or decent Mex Jazz bass or Warwick, or could px and add money for Musicman, Lakland or Warwick (4 strings only), maybe try me on other 4 stringers? or alternatively sell for £250 which included postage & case! More pics available on request, any Q's PM me NOTE-FENDER JAZZ BASS HAS BEEN SOLD & REMOVED FROM POST
Mothership Connection by Parliament does it for me...funktastic!
+1...anything by Parliament, Bootsy , Funkadelic and the various P-funk offshoots...Brides of Funkenstein, Fred Wesley & the Horny horns etc etc. Also Sly Stone, Graham Central station, Louis Johnson/Brothers Johnson, The J.B.'s Spasm enhancing Bootsy vid in tha pocket on the one:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmNegOg6dOM Good raw tone on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmEwTrpZs0I Anything good & funky that tickles my funk gland that makes me go into a spasm is good for me-i don't get off that much on these super bassers doing funk like Miller & Wooten really...they're amazing guys but Groove is most definitely in the heart baba.....raw & filthy funk the type of groove you can chew on. One nation under a groove....fun......key

    Ibanez SR500

Wow got my ebay SR505 today-bloody marvellous! Very smooth & those Barts make a nice phat but defined sound...all in all very impressed purchase! Just the sound as i remembered in the music shop from years ago
  13.
This is a real shame as I love the Lakland and its a top bass but it does not suit me and I may consider selling it. I never thought this would happen as I love the Lakland brand but I'm not sure I will play her. The Fender just feels right and suits me tonally.
Wish i had chance to try a Lakland DJ4 before considering selling my USA 75 reissue. Its been great to read your reviews/comments. I am lucky to also have a Lakland JO5 which i really love for the deep reggae stuff i play, i love the feel and sound etc. I use my Fender 75 4 string for a funk ska band and have never been happy with the feel and tone (trouble is i can't feel confident funkin on my JO5 yet...particularly as we get pissed a lot when playing and i know i'll spank that B thinking its an E one day). I've put Bartolini's passives in the Fender to get a bit more warmth but it still sounds thin to me! I can't get with the varnished neck on the Fender either...i prefer the satin feel on the Lakland. My USA 75 is beautiful though and is different to the usual natural option too, it is Sunburst with a Maple neck with black block inlays...just like Familymans old bass in the Wailers....hence why i got it many years ago. I wish there was somewhere i could try a DJ4 or JO4 in the Southwest...and in order to buy one i'd have to sell my Fender first, tragedy could therefore prevail!. Don't get me wrong i love the Fender but saying the DJ4 has a deep bass sound sends shivers up my GAS. I've put the original black pick guard back on now unlike the pic that shows a tortoise one

    Ibanez SR500

I scored a quick 'buy it now' Ibby SR505 on ebay for £180 the other night. It has the Barts too. Just waiting on postage at the mo. I tired a SR505 in Exeter Mansons a few years back and have never been able to shift the experience out my head, despite owning a lovely Lakland JO5. So at £180 it was worth another argument with the wife! and taking her out for a meal
  15.
Mine's arrived. Good quality. Really pro design and it's even got my jammin' white P bass on it (well, apart from the scratchplate colour) I'm a happy bunny Thanks, Paul
+1 got mine last week, very cool and good quality

  19. Once finished a gig a few years a go with a funny covers band doing Lionel Richie's 'Hello' ...was totally perfect as our encore as we supported an AC/DC tribute band...you should have seen the crowds faces, talk about being as popular as a vegan at a hog roast...
