1. Anyone own one of these? I've wanted one since Hamer were actively promoting these with 5x7 handout postcards in the 80s. They don't come up that often...just interested to know if anyone has one of the original models and how well they've stood up to 30 years of use. Cheers P
2. OK, my time to weigh in. Bought a BH800 before Christmas. Compared to the weight of my old 4U rack, it's a dream. (I still have the old gear.) Tend to use it flat tonally and have the Duff Chorus and SpectraComp on the two TonePrint channels, albeit used sparingly. As of yet I've not found anything to replicate the input tone of my Sansamp BDDI, so at present I'm still using that for dirt. TCE don't seem to be too interested in entering into conversational poop with end users; there's loads of open questions on their forum (there isn't even a proper forum for BH users!). By the way of positives, it's light, loud and sounds pretty decent without the Sansamp. Interestingly, it's possible to blend the pickups from my Rick into the front and rear inputs. Negatives? Not enough dirty patches and there's been hardly any new TonePrints in the last three months. The BH800 is supposed to be their flagship bass amp, but will only accept TonePrints written specifically for it. The drive options are pretty poor/unusable for me, so the BDDI stays in my gigbag. P
3. I bought a TCE BH800 head before Christmas and have been looking at both the 2x10 and 2x12 versions of these (one of each); that pairing should give me options for home/jam/gig situations. Looks very pretty!
4. I've just revisited this thread. Interesting observation on the guerilla marketing front is that the OP has pretty much disappeared...his last post to BC was mid-February. Job done on his part, eh? Heh.
5. I saw something on You Tube where some guy passed his strap behing the belt on his trousers and it 'solved' whatever issues he was having with whatever lug position, tilt and dive issues that he was apparently experiencing. Personally (and repeating what I've posted at length elsewhere), I've never considered these petty arguments about neck dive to be anything more than hot air. Never had a problem...you see I play with two hands.
6. Irrespective of the loveliness expressed in the previous comments, aren't Fender simply alienating potential buyers by selling a West Ham themed bass? Look, I'm never buying another Fender, plus I am a lifelong Chelsea supporter - through the ups and downs - and I wouldn't be seen dead with a bass, irrespective of how good it is, in West Ham livery. P
7. Fan of both bands, so win win here. Just spent about half hour watching clips, despite quality, all good. Do have some concerns about the future of Alkaline Trio too. From the perspective of Tom, I enjoyed Box Car Racer and like AVA quite a lot, so (hopfully) a win there too.
8. A jeepers-how-did-my-ad-get-to-page-six-of-the-for-sale-section kind of bump.
9. Sorry, should have updated this. The 1x15 found a new home about week ago. In no rush to move the 4x10 at the moment, but I am considering moving to a 2x12 at some stage. P
10. There was some nonsense circulating a few years back about the extension of the E-string gave for a more even tension...no idea as to the validity of this.
11. I've made preliminary enquiries with both Lull and Bass Direct - there's no black ones available, but Lull have all the bits ready to build one. I have a couple of choices here...Bass Direct price is £3.1K (eek!), but I could get a mate to pick one up and bring it in when he makes a trip over (which is frequently). The long and the short of this is that I'm going to do my darnedest to land one, one way or another. My wife has given it a conditional thumbs up, but I'm not allowed to dip into last years redundancy swag, so I'm gonna need to sell a couple of basses - probably the 4003 and one of my Thunderbirds. That should do it. Wish me luck. P

13. My plan for 2015 is to clear out some stuff and spend a stupid amount on something very special. With this in mind, the next to go is this, my 1997 Gibson Thunderbird. It's got a Hipshot Supertone Bridge and Dunlop straplocks; I have the original three point bridge should any purchaser wish to revert it back to stock. Since this photo was taken, I've put Gibson silver top hats on it. OK, the dirt. This has been my main bass for a few months now, it plays great and sounds (to my ears) the nuts, just like a Thunderbird should. Super low borderline rattly action, plays easily and fast. Understandably for a well gigged bass approaching twenty years old, it's seen some action, so much so that this was a bass I was considering having refinished, but now that I have another plan afoot I've shelved that, so let's just say that it's got some mojo. (Quite why I put that in italics, I'm unsure.) Comes with the original case (it's an orangy/brown one). Happy to ship at buyers expense. Will post more photos if anyone want to see them. Local collection is fine (near Reading). Happy to answer any questions. P
14. I didn't like the headstocks, now I kind of do. P
15.

I've never owned one, but if I can make a teensy-weensy observation/comment it's that the headstock on the above models is way better than the chewed by a bear ones on the later models. Message ends. P
16. I put Sperzel locking machines on my Dot (Studio). The stock machines were shocking.
17. Over the years I've installed a handful of video unblockers in my Firefox browser. Consequently, it plays fine on mine. Sorry!
18.
Good grief. Beige tartan walls.
Good grief. Millions in the bank.
