1.
No - 3 knobs & a selector switch! New specs, Jack?
Well smoke my kipper! That still looks more like a shaft than a switch to me, but I learned (a LONG time ago) not to argue with Jon.
2. One day, I will play in a band called The Sad & Tragic Failures. It would only be fair.
3.
Might've looked like this before it was "upgraded":
They were sold with a knob missing?
4. Just a thong at twilight ...
5.
This thread proves that being in bands with friends is a bloody pain in the arse. As far as bands go I prefer to play with people who I meet only to do band-related stuff and don't see at any other time, including social occasions, not even a drink after rehearsal.
Oooh, I can't agree with that! Quite apart from being more fun, a friendly band that goes to the pub after has a ready-made venue & opportunity to tackle exactly these issues.
6.
Hmmm I seem to have collected a certain happy chap in a hat when I do it
Plus MacDaddy a few to the right!
7.
Five pictures of a random trendy man walking down the street, A man looking like he's eaten an entire bag of magic mushrooms, Some sort of skeleton convention, A guy eating in a place called Fatburger, Unidentified man with trumpet, A man in a cape blowing giant bubbles in the street and a man agressively flexing on a stage...
Yup, sounds like Camden to me.
8. Unacceptable behaviour at any time. Worse, if you and the drummer just passively accept this, you are tacitly encouraging him to carry on. Either you need to drag him down the pub and have a proper talk about it, or you need to find another way of rubbing his nose in it. You and the drummer could simply leave the room every time he does it and force him to come and find you. You'd need to do that EVERY time though, not just occasionally.
9.
I've got the 7 version of this: - http://www.amazon.co...QK6J1YXDTZ9DG2M nice and cheap and works a treat - I dont move it anywhere mind - just home static use. Little bit fiddly to put together.
Yup, I have a 5-way and a 3-way of these, and my slide guitarist (who swops between three guitars during gigs) liked it so much that he bought one to use at said gigs. The only thing to watch is that neoprene isn't the toughest material, and a year or two of thumping 4Kg basses onto it will wear through the padding on the bottom rails, especially the one at the back. I just wrapped some heavy foam around it and gaffa'd it in place. Sorted.
10. I want to know about the other 2.3 Basschatters we should have heard from by now.
11. I had the MXR M-102 Dyna-Comp ... sheer class, and built like the proverbial tank. Works absolutely fine for bass. http://www.rainbowguitars.com/accessories/mxr/m-102-dyna-comp-compressor/m102/jd The MXR Bass Compressor looks 'orrible to my eyes, too many knobs, too much to fiddle with.
12.
I showed the rest of the band and they all said the same thing "I'm sure they sound amazing but they look dated"
Bloody hell, I thought some of MY bands contained weird people.
13. Put them on a photo hosting site such as Photobucket and you can post links to the photos in there.
14. If you're after the Jamerson sound, then it's hard to beat the LaBella FLs. Feel is obviously a very personal thing, but I love the feel of the LaBellas too. The main drawback is that they are so damned expensive. A very reasonable substitute (at a much more reasonable price) is the strings that Lakland used to market as 'Jo Osborne' flats. Lakland still make the strings, but I can't remember offhand what they're now called.
15. The only Zep tribute I've yet seen were Zepparella: http://youtu.be/WpYlSO_E190
16. That's a bloody good price, especially with the ally case. You might want to tell people what string spacing you have, plus whether or not there's a bendwell, etc.
17. But there's already a slot on the front of your computer to do that. I find I have to poke it in with a paperclip or something - I guess the automatic feeder on mine isn't working properly.
18.
First thing he noticed was the DAB "Marshall" radio, "OK", he said, "so at least we know we're in the home of a musician".
Yeh, I had something similar. The guy may have noticed twelve basses and two guitars hanging on the wall, plus a Roland VK-09 next to the electronic drumkit. But probably just a lucky guess, I reckon.
19. Damn! It's no longer available. I must learn to move faster ...
20. I've had both a Bravewood 1965 Precision (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/h4ppyjack/library/Basses%20SOLD/Bravewood%20Precision%202003%20SOLD ) and a Crinson 1956 Precision (http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/h4ppyjack/library/Basses%20SOLD/Crinson%20Telebass%202007%20SOLD ). Very different basses from very different builders, but both utterly superb. Both basses played and sounded every bit as good as the real thing. How do I know? Because I have a Fender 1966 Precision ( http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/h4ppyjack/library/Basses%20CURRENT/Fender%20Precision%201966%20CURRENT ) and a Fender 1957 Precision ( http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/h4ppyjack/library/Basses%20CURRENT/Fender%20Precision%201957%20CURRENT ). Which I bought largely because I liked the copies so much ... So, did these purchases cure GAS? Don't be silly!
21. How on earth does a Barefaced cab "lose its stuffing"? Why on earth would you want to pack it in an amp? These questions demand answers!
22. Back in the 70s my flatmates used to tell me that, if you had to ask whether you were adding enough resin, then you weren't.
23.
I'll wait until Behringer bring out their cloned version at 1/10th the price
