1. Hi Luca and welcome to Basschat!
2. Have you considered running it through a bass preamp pedal like the SansAmp Bass Driver DI (or similar cheap Behringer BDI21 pedal)?
3. In my experience a straight plug can put a bit of strain on a jack socket when that socket is on the face of an instrument (such as a P bass) so I favour a right-angled plug for a couple of my basses with that arrangement - my other basses have side mounted sockets (which are of the wholly enclosed type) so they're not so prone to the plug moving around in which case straight jacks seem fine.
4. How does the new Squier stack up against your Fender USA and Japanese instruments? By the way, the reason I bought my Squier Deluxe Jazz Active was I'd read that more than a few people (mostly over on Talkbass) said it blew away far more expensive basses!
5. Very nice indeed. Squier VMs and above are great basses! Merry Christmas Bass Day
6. At a Bass Bash earlier this year the favourite P bass in a blind test was 'won' by a Fender Mark Hoppus Jazz with a reversed split P pickup. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/238458-herts-bash-2-the-precision-test/page__view__findpost__p__2494670
7. This has happened to me previously; I think I might have signed out and then back in again and it had changed.
8. Yeah sounds like a duff string that might have a kink in it somewhere. Have you tried restringing it (take it off the tuner completely and make sure the ball end isn't binding on any part of the bridge) but if that doesn't work you might have to replace the G (contact the manufacturer - they might send you a free replacement). A saddle significantly out of line with the others usually means it's a bad string.
9. Do you mean the Blockhead Bass? Need pics!
10. Welcome to Basschat and yeah, once that Wal turns up you have to make a Happy New Bass Day post with photos!
11. 'Cat's Eyes' is already claimed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat%27s_Eyes ... as are 'Central Reservation' and 'Cruise Control' but then I thought of 'Freewheeling'... which seems to be unclaimed so far...
12. Hi and welcome to Basschat. There are quite a few people on here using the B3 and it seems well liked so I think you'll have fun using it - I'm another Zoom user; mine's the valve endowed B9 - I use the amp and cab models, detune (as a chorus) and reverb more than anything else on it. Oh and Merry Christmas!
13. You could try the Zoom B3 multi-effects unit and create a patch using the suggested settings found here http://guitarpatches.com/patches.php?unit=B3 (there are a few patches for other Muse songs too).
14. Are you sure about the Stinger? The website still looks active (with a note about Christmas shutdown) http://www.probass.co.uk/StingerEQ.html
15. Hi Vail and welcome to Basschat!
16. "Can I have a P please Bob?" ... 'cos it certainly isn't a Jazz...
17. I've always bought sets and have been happy with the tension though I suspect I go for heavier gauge than the strings you're having problems with (I use an A that's typically 80 to 85). From what I've read the D and A in a set are usually the highest tension.
18. Hi, I've really no idea what action your acoustic bass ought to be but you might as well look at the generic Fender recommendations and see how much difference there is with yours; it's usually 6/64" for the E at the 17th fret and 5/64" for the G at the same position - that's how I set all of my instruments up but you obviously have the luxury of adjustable saddles with an electric. HTH
19. Blimey that's a bit of a looker!
20. Hey there Jakob and welcome to Basschat!
21. That is one stunning looking bass! Going a little green here *envy*

Pre amp pedel

Lots of people use them as one link in creating their sound, you'll usually find they colour the tone so it's not simply a signal boost (and you can get clean boost pedals too). As an example the SansAmp Bass Driver DI can give you the effect of a valve amp front end where you can add warmth or grit or just a bright more modern tone - there's an inexpensive Behringer unit that does a very similar thing. A preamp pedal is one alternative to having an onboard active EQ so if you have a passive bass it's a way to get the tones you'd expect from an active instrument but there's no reason why you can't run an active bass through a preamp pedal. A lot of the pedals (SansAmp and Behringer included) allow you to direct inject (DI) straight into the front of house (FOH) amplification rig just in case your stage rig/combo doesn't have that facility. Some people choose to just run a preamp pedal on stage and take a feed through a monitor wedge so they don't have to supply any backline.
23.
Does anyone know what the best stand for Metal is?
Something heavy.
24. Whoever it is playing on whichever version, sounds well tasty. I watched the show but wouldn't have been able to identify the theme tune. BTW are we thinking flats on a P played with a pick?
