1. Bonobo - Days To Come - here's the title track http://youtu.be/4UtIDlWk2D0
2. I've got Fender steel flats on two of my basses and I'm very happy with them - you might find you have to adjust the truss rod as flats are usually a bit higher tension than roundwounds.
3. I've had a look online for something that might work for you - I've got the same Zoom unit and though my AC adaptor is working fine it's worthwhile knowing where to get a replacement from (just in case... ) - there are loads of different units that seem to supply the right voltage and current but it's getting the right size connector - you might try giving a company called Power Adaptors a ring (0800 756 9963) to check if this might work for you http://www.power-adapters.co.uk/12V-Mains-Power-Supply-Adaptor-Quality-Charger-ACDC-for-Technika-154830-LCD-TV-3a-36w Good luck!
4. LOL oh I know it's lightweight really (my old flightcased Intermusic head weighs the same as the Contour combo) but it's a bit heavier than I imagined for the size - put it this way, I can't see it vibrating enough to go wandering off on some travels of its own Incidentally, looking at the various labels on the cab and the cardboard box it arrived in, it was made way back in March 2012, assembled in Taiwan, shipped to California, then went to Fender in The Netherlands before coming over to England last month!
5. Another happy Genz Benz owner here; just taken delivery of a Contour CTR500-210T combo from GAK for £299 with free delivery and a free 10' guitar cable too (I did try Bass Direct first but they were out of stock). Very happy with my purchase, and really pleased with the clarity; my Westone Spectrum LX strung with flats sounds immense! Comparing the Genz Benz with my old 80s Intermusic rig (running a 2 x 12 cabinet) and I can see how much I've been missing at the higher frequencies (and I don't think I'm losing any low-end either). The combo seems very well put together; reassuringly weighty for its size and the covering is a really thick textured plastic that I suspect will be quite tough (probably more so that the TC BG250 combos that had also been on my radar).
6. My 1986 Spectrum LX, owned from new and currently wearing flats with the fretted neck. I fitted a simple MDF ramp using double-sided tape just to get a feel for using one. Early on I decided I wanted to get exactly the same break angle for all strings at the nut for the fretted neck so transplanted the string retainer from the fretless neck (and substituted with a Fender style retainer on that headstock). I got my first experience of playing fretless with the Spectrum and enjoyed it so much I bought a Cort B4FL that I now prefer for fretless playing.
7. This is a great laugh from Stuart Maconie http://www.amazon.co...er+with+roadies ... and from the collection I had that I've only just donated to a local charity shop, this one by Gary Valentine (ex Blondie) http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-York-Rocker-Generation-1974-1981/dp/1560259442/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1386187952&sr=1-1&keywords=gary+valentine
8. I've actually just joined the site today (though long been a regular reader) in order to post a reply on here about 80s bands and to be frank I'd also steer clear of most of the songs from the bands you've listed so far... my experience of the times suggests an alternative direction where you might explore music from bands such as Talking Heads, The Cure, The Smiths, Level 42, Simple Minds, Japan, The Stone Roses, Echo And The Bunnymen, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Pixies, The Teardrop Explodes, New Order, The The, REM, Nirvana, The Comsat Angels...
