1. Cheap audio interface to plug into your computer or most eq/di boxes or most non-tube amps will easily do the job. Though none of them will stop the kids hearing the twanging of strings.
2. It sounds to me like your 210 is the problem. I'd suggest keeping the 115 as it has sentimental value then either get another one or go for a suitable 210 to match with it (depending on where you stand on the mixing speaker size argument), selling the 210 & VT pedal then buy a Tech-21 VT500 amp (or whatever it's called). That way you'll be able to get the Ampeg-ish sound & have two nice cabs.
3. Have you talked this through with the guitarist? I don't know many guitarists that would be happy being DI'd and from my perspective I wouldn't be particularly happy only getting monitoring from the PA when the guitars have their own on-stage amps for monitoring. I suppose it depends on your amps but I've always preferred the sound of mic'd up bass through PA to DI'd bass through PA. Plus bass-stacks look cool and give you something to rest your drink on :-)

DHA Vt1-Di-EQ-Bass MK2

looks like mine might have been one of the first of these then:
5. Got it right and like the cheaper (I assume) one more, result - always nice to know I've got cheap taste!
6. I think if you're happy with what you got out of the deal then you should maybe just leave it there. People buy & sell to make a profit all the time and what happens to something you've sold/traded isn't really any of your concern once your deal has been done. The market balances itself out; if he's overpriced the thing he got off you he won't get what he wants, especially if you put the sold price in your original for sale thread. I'm also not so sure about this spirit of the forum (I've heard the phrase used on other forums too); in a group of people this large I don't think such a thing exists - as demonstrated by things like this (that happen all the time), people are always over or under pricing things knowingly.
7.
I wonder whether everyone is using headphones, or laptop speakers, or desk speakers etc.? I used headphones, and could hear a difference, but it was definitely subtle.
Good point; I'm using relatively decent headphones & there is a very clear difference (though whether that difference could just be done using an EQ & a bit of processing I don't know) but if I were listening through cheapy headphones or laptop speakers it'd probably be much more difficult to hear (which is one of the reasons I think youtube demos of bass amps are pointless).
8. Not really my kind of thing but I've forwarded your link to a friend, it's right up her street. You need to get one of those keyboards you can wear on a strap & have a guitar type neck for holding onto!
9. I'm not a P user (nothing against them - just don't have one) but if I had to guess I'd say 1st is Fender, 2nd is Maru though both sound like P's to me. I preferred the 2nd one for some reason. As ever with these comparisons, they just make me wish my playing was better - must practice more.
10. The was a thread full of people raving about them not so long ago, some of those posters may be able to help. With the amount of units Fender probably sell, I wouldn't be worried about a few complaint threads - they represent a tiny percentage of the user base. It's unfortunate because when things are working people very rarely start a thread about them (I know I've never done one for my Warwick amp despite over a decade's worth of reliable use) but as soon as there's a problem they jump straight onto the internet complaining, often before discussing the issue with the retailer/manufacturer/amp tech.
11. Meh - share of revenue isn't it; you could have billions of plays but they're still worth almost nothing if no-one is paying for the service. Spotify actually pay out quite a large percent of their income; well over 70%. That means that they have to pay wages, run servers, pay advances etc... from just their 30% - it's really not their fault. Artists need to understand the finances better; if you don't think the royalties you'll receive from Spotify via the deal your publisher or label has made cover what you think your material is worth*, don't do the deal. It's not rocket science. * edit - this can include the exposure/ease of finding for your tracks not just monetary.
12. A lot of people like those Fender Rumble's for warm tones, though I'm afraid I've never used one. Another I've not tried but would be more inclined to go for is one of those little Hotone amps & a small 1x10 cab.
13. Some pretty good ideas, especially the vocal bit but once again it's the looping that is holding a lot of the song back IMO - it would be 10x better if he just got a full band to play the music.
14.
From my understanding the physical cost of transformers and bits of a 200w valve amp is higher than a 5w guitar valve amp
From what I can tell it's this, plus probably the ridiculous weight of the things. I'd love an all valve amp as I do really like their tone & it's frustrating being in a band with two guitarists both having decent quality all valve heads that cost less than £500 but that's just the way things are. It's not like the amp companies are charging bassist double the price for a laugh - it'll be reflected in their costs. You could always try that Bugera one but otherwise I think I'll be saving for one of the more recognised sources.
15. I'd be more tempted to buy one of the just discontinued (and so cheap) Orange bass terrors if I were you - Thoman are selling them for 350 I think. I too have played a lot of metal/hardcore bass - often for more metally stuff I've kept it very clean so the bass cuts through but other times that slightly overdriven tube sound sounds awesome, especially if there's a bass-only build up bit (you know the ones). I use a Dave Hall Amps tube DI/pre-amp thing for my dirt sound, it's very good.
16. Pictures aren't loading for me ;-)
17. I think you're looking for a problem where there isn't one (what you have is perfectly capable of playing quietly or loudly) but if you feel you simply must spend some money the obvious choice is to sell the 2x12 and buy two 112's, then just take one to amdram & both to rock.
18. I'd also suggest one of those Bugera's; mostly because I too want to know what they're like but don't want to put my own money up to find out, seeing as you got such a good deal on the cab it'd be rude not to really :-) I think a couple of shops are selling the big orange tube heads (not the hybrid terrors) for just less than a grand now too which whilst being twice as much would probably be a safer bet.
19. This is why I generally try not to play sports pubs & going on at 11 just isn't for me. Good luck with it though!
20. Funny you should post a picture of a Warwick - that Ken Smith has a bit of a Warwick Katana look to it in my eyes. Definitely one for the anti-porn thread anyway.

Pretty pathetic move isn't it? Thread started off ok with some decent input from everyone then slow obtuse trolling creeped in, then after getting called on it deletes all the context of the discussion! Never mind - I guess we'll never know what constitutes a mainstream vs boutique manufacturer now!
Thanks Lw. Are the YouTube clips of the LWA amps and ads in the bass player magazine for US customers only at this time?
Warwick tend to use that really shouty guy for their online bass demos & it comes across very american but they are certainly available here in the UK - GAK can order them in, though I'd just order direct from Thomann then if you don't like it you can send it back very easily. I've heard one at a gig & it had a great clean tone, similar enough to the youtube clips though obviously different as I was hearing it direct from the speakers not through my tiny work headphones. I don't know what the cab was though, it was completely de-badged, I've not heard their current batch of cabs either so can't comment on those. I'm with you on the 210's though, I have absolutely no justification or scientific back-up for liking them but I do like 10" speakers for some reason (though I'm not actually against 12's and am considering them for the future) - if TKS did a lightweight 8ohm 210 in their current sexy styling I would probably have put two straight on my credit card.

Warwick lwa1000? They've got a 500 on the way but I don't think it's out yet. I love the clean tone of Warwick amps but they don't get much attention on here.
24. Why is it mixed/mastered like that? It's like he recorded an acapella album then someone said "where's the music Bruce?" - "Oh you want music do you, here have some generic maiden-ish sounding riffs but you can only have them on volume 1, I'm staying up here at 10".
25. Looks of a singer/front person can have an impact - if the band were a group of guys in their 20's/early 30's, playing originals & wanting to make a career of it I'd say they should probably think about number 2, the world is shallow out there & the ratio between stereo-typically attractive vs not-so-much is very clear to see. But it sounds like that's not the case; a group of 40+ guys using a little blonde's looks to get them through the door is going to look a bit desperate at best but more likely bordering on pervy. Sounds like number 1 would fit in more with the band both sound wise & in looks. She seems like the obvious choice to me.
