I've always thought the single coil sound on the Sterling is a great additional tone. and the neck profile is lovely,if you like the nut width
For anyone that hasn't dealt with Dave before I can confirm he is as a nice guy as you could wish to meet & his gear is beautifully cared for. You really cannot go wrong.

Don't go without saying goodbye David!! And I hope you will keep Basschatting from Singapore? Just to echo Macko's comment earlier, business with Eubassix always goes down smooth. Without this man I would be bassless. ped

Agree with this entirely. Very good packaging as well! Steve
+1 from me on all this. Dave's a great guy to deal with. had some good conflabs about all things bass on the blower with the fella when I got the Godlyke Disciple from him a few weeks back. helpful and accomodating chap. i wish you all the best with your move sir, will miss seeing your exotica up for sale here and ooh! thats my old CAR Sterling. awesome example, whoever gets it will love it! I find this bit confusing
The common factor here is that everyone who has owned this bass, have Fender P-Basses and this Lakland is NOT a P-Bass anymore to my ears
but on the ebay listing it says "I'm offering a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub with Villex Pickup with 4 position mid switch and Villex rotary tone boost, really adds another dimension to the Precision sound while retaining the classic passive P bass tone as well" (key word here being "retaining") so which one is it?

Musicman Stingray 3EQ black with maple neck £600? FS/FT..maybe

agreed, the Sterling is more organic and growly than a Bongo and more too than an SR5 . Bongo sound is more about the electronics, bigger and smoother. when I had a Bongo and Sterling at the same time, switching from the bongo to the sterling was like going from active to passive, like a lot of volume and tone dropped out. The Bongo sounds better but from experience I think the Sterling/SR5 is the better gigging bass
Really? must have been quick because i'm always looking at their for sale section.
yes was quick, seller was bdgotoh, he was selling the Copperhead Bronze Sterling single H and a Desert Gold Sterling H at the same time, both had rosewood boards, the CB was sold within hours and the DG one not long after. I remember it as its the only Sterling I think I've ever seen in the bronze with the copper pickguard

Up for trade is this 2002 white sparkle Sterling with rosewood board and abalone scratchplate (also spare black one). pretty much flawless condition (apart from some scratches on the guard). No fretwear,or grime on the neck, been well babied. fairly low action,no issues whatsoever. I should also point out its also a lot more sparkly under lighting than these pics suggest. When I got the bass it didnt have a MM case, It does now though and also I just bought the abalone plate a few weeks ago been a few years since MusicMan offered the sparkle finishes (apart from the blue dawn LE07). If you're after one, you'll have a hard job finding one in better condition. I wanted one of these so bad for so long but now I've had it 6 months, been there, done that, fancy something new you may have seen it on these boards before with a maple neck. that was off the CAR Sterling which I recently just traded with eubassix. this one pictured is the original neck trade wise looking for a Bongo,Lakland DJ or 44-02,maybe a MIA S1 Jazz or Warwick, others considered too - soft spot for G&L in particular - cash either way depending on what you got. In the unlikely event you want to trade a 5 string version of the above (apart from the fender - sry their Am.Std 5s have a rubbish B string) then I'd be more into that may offer the Sterling up for sale if I dont get the any or the right trade offers

And then there were 2 (well, for a little while)
dub_junkie replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in Gear Gallery
they're both very nice. and I happen to like the burgandy mist colour on the Jazz. beats 3TS imo which is just sooo boring looking. all those fender colours were pretty cool like sonic blue, fiesta red, surf green, this one etc -
My Godlyke Disciple 5 - hand made in Japan, satin finish ash body with SGC MM+J pups and 18v circuit. she arrived with me from Eubassix a couple of weeks ago. I've lowered the action a tad and its a peach of a player with a really nice and varied set of tones next is the Spector Euro 5 - the best price v capability ratio bass I've yet come across. I may swap out the tonepump for a preamp with mid control at a later date but otherwise I'm really happy with this bass.
im no expert on the multitude of different basses however.... i got a sterling hs at xmas and im chuffed to bits with it.it has a 5 way switch and 3 band eq.you can dial in pretty much any tone you could wish for.the neck is nice and slim as the others have said but compared tonally to my jazz this things on steroids. ive never played a stingray so ive nothing to offer there but the sterling hs does have a wonderfull voice. heres a wee piccie, aint she cuuuuute.
thats lovely that is. nice looking bit of ash. how are they wired, are both p/ups series or parallel? cheers

Owen got my Spector 5 in part ex against his Bolin 5 last week. easy deal,he's an all round good egg is our Owen. cheers! Keir

if not black/maple then white/maple - both are great but for me olympic white/maple makes for a great looking Jazz bass just a teensy bit nore than the black.

Jools Holland being live and Estelle's bassist with mad skillz
dub_junkie replied to alexclaber's topic in General Discussion
just watched last nights repeat. loved the tone off the Yeasayer's bassisist's Asat fretless. the guy had a nice sense of space to his playing with some wicked little fills. the vocalist though seemed to lift a lot of his posturing and movement straight off Brandon Flowers, and anyway singers with beards are just not on -

that is a hulluva lot of bass for £400. though if its like the R3/R4 sen ash guitars it'll prolly weigh a fair bit damn I often type levinson blade in on ebay searches but not this past week.
