They're all sweet but I'm biased towards Sterlings with their super necks so sterling it is! btw the Sterling isnt medallion gold which is much much more yellow. That finish is called Las Vegas Gold. Its a fairly rare factory finish and I've only ever seen a handful an Albert Lee in the same finish and medallion gold good luck with whatever you choose. cheers

I mainly post in the G&L forum there and I cant help but envy them their FS section. I dont find TB overly religious - well not compared to the Ovation fanclub where I lurk mostly

sweet bass(es)! out of curiosity can I ask what made you choose a 33'' scale length on a 5 and how does the B string feel/sound?.

I went for Musicman as I love 'em but I'd definetely stretch to a Stingray if I were you. You'll be glad you did. edit: or better still get a G&L L-2000!!

What was the gear outcome of 2008 for you?
dub_junkie replied to JimBobTTD's topic in General Discussion
IN Valenti Jazz MM Stingray 5 G&L SB-2 Spector Euro 5 (x2) Godlyke Disciple 5 Godlyke Deity 4 fretless MM Steve Morse guitar Tacoma Jumbo acoustic OUT Bolin NS5 G&L L-1500 G&L Asat G&L Tribute L-2000 G&L Invader XL guitar G&L Legacy Std guitar MM Sterling (x2) MM Axis (x2) MM Silhouette Special Maybe only looking for couple of trades in 2009. One of my Euro 5's for a MM4/G&L etc. Not playing the 5's as much in the band I've just joined. Overall I'm happy with the gear I've got and I cant be ar$ed going round in circles to arrive back at much the same anyway -
anything by BC Rich and the Warwick Vampyre,Stryker and Buzzard. they're all as ugly as sin.

Arrogant shop staff make my blood boil
dub_junkie replied to ashgeezer's topic in General Discussion
My gf and I were in glasgow shopping yesterday and she commented how the staff at Reverb/SC gave her a vacant look when she asked any questions. It was only after they realised that she knew what she was talking about (she is a lead vocalist with 20 years experience playing in big bands/duos etc) that they actually bothered to show any interest. Then went round the corner where the staff were more helpful at Rub-A-Dub and she bought me some Alesis studio monitors (for my crimbo) without a hitch - result!! Guitar Guitar are very friendly and customer orientated imo and to that end the shop was mobbed with customers. Reverb was empty by comparison. -

I actually got the oil finish flame maple Euro 5 because it reminded me so much of an SS1 I owned for a number of years. I loved the Streamer Stage 1 and I love the Spector too. I'd have both if I could. they're both great basses

good luck with it d-basser. certainly seems a steal for what it is

Anyone able to compare an Aguilar against the Tonepump in a EURO? ( I believe some of the Euros shipped with Aguilar preamps) I like the OBP1 in one of my other basses and wonder how it sounds with EMGs compared to the spector preamp
Ergonomics, build quality, feel, sound ...it's better than I ever thought possible for a production line bass (mine's a Euro LX5-EX poplar burl). There's no mass neurosis here ...they really are brilliant instruments and the NT's will hold their value.
how true! I've dallied on and off with selling one of my older Euro 5's but each time I do I just realise there'll be regret involved afterwards and if I did I'll probably end up with a bass I dont like as much. furthermore I cant seperate my two in deciding which one I prefer.

CK,minor point I know, they were made through to '91. Long time ago I had a 1989 natural finish Sabre fretless with the covered p/ups and the 5 position switch. I also had a pre EB Stingray at the time and in summary I'd agree 100% with your take on the tonal differences between the two. Looks wise I preferred the slimmer outline of the Sabre to the Ray's roundness(like the older G&L L2K before they were changed and given more curves).I'm kind of tempted with this but have plans on one day aquiring another late 80s EB Sabre in trans red/maple or blueburst/maple if I can ever find one

very nice indeed. first glance looks like a L1500. is the p/up on the same place as the L2K neck humbucker? also what profile is the neck, is it a #6 or a #8?
-
mines has been modded with a 3 way switch and a tone control. Its also got the birdseye neck and ebony board options both of which i'm pretty much sure are no longer available on the basses. It's the only passive bass I have and its such a sweet thing to play and own
