for those that use them.....wall mounted guitar holders.....where do you put yours A / bedroom B / lounge C / other just curious, bought a couple and aint got round to putting `em up yet
I have 4 of these 3 point hangers in the front room.
 2. Forgot this pic.. Dood
 3. Here are my two Shuker basses! - I reckon these are the best basses on the planet by a clear mile ;o)
 4. Lovely piece of wood - for that price you are laughing. My only reservation at the moment is that the upper horn seems to stop above the 14th fret - and with the heavy headstock, you may be looking at getting a big fat strap to counter the effects of it feeling a bit neck heavy - but hey, it looks nice - i hope it plays as well too!
 5.
It would just be SO big! And total overkill for almost anyone. However I have considered a cab with 2 x 3012LFs plus mid and optional tweeter in a Vintage sized/shape box - the size is just right. I really need to find someone who actually reaches the limit of the Big One on a gig though, it seems we're a long way from that happening with current users. Looking forward to Dood's test-run! Alex
I think, as I elluded to in my other messages - on experience I've never been able to move enough air from just one essentially small cabinet - I can think of only one situtation when I used to gig with a single 4x10 - and that was because the onstage volume was so low. - If I am going to be on a large venue stage, (not the local fox n hounds / leisure centre type gig) then I want to ensure that I can move enough air to be heard with a good full sound (to over simplify) - it's one thing to be loud - but to actually move enough air to sound good too. There's also benefit to having stacking cabs or having a taller cabinet - Making use of floor coupling and getting the cones closer to my ears at the same time - hence my interest in hearing a 'Big One' cabinet in a 2x15 form factor - or a pair of the standard cabinets.
 6. Damn right - this ain't music gear..lock lock lock - naughty naughty!! You know the rules.
 7. NewTone strings are AWESOME! - They wound a 145 string for me that was designed to tune down to F# . Sure it was a skinny string, but it DID work! a big +1 for a great team who are very helpful.
 8.
I think you'll have to test out the first T'Big One and see if it's loud enough. Do you wear ER15s or 25s? Alex
Definitely ;o) It depends, I have both - 25's for the loud occasions!
 9.
And have a look at Electrovoice power amps and PA cabs.
Yes, you have just reminded me, the SBA760 sub is an animal and very impressive - I'll defintely take a look! Dood.
 10.
If you want a modular solution then the forthcoming Big Baby and Baby Sub will sound incredibly similar to the Big One but be in two smaller lighter boxes, will go a bit lower and a bit louder. Alex
Cheers Alex, just to add a bit of clarity - I'd be looking at anything up to a 6x10 size cab in a 'single solution' or up to the size of a 4x10 in a multiple box solution. Ie the Forge Bass thang is pretty spot on for a single box, including Tri-amping etc.
 11. I've been doing a wee bit of research this weekend, looking for ideas and certainly I am appreciating the feedback on this thread. Obviously Alex's designs are piquing my interest - I remember seeing Greenboy's Fearless cab designs on TB and watching the two designs progress has been very interesting and a great learning experience. Even the experiments with the Carvin LS cabs for a full range backline. If I were to disregard cost altogether, I like these ideas:- http://www.hkaudio.com/products.php5?section=ps&id=10 - HK Audio -one single stack - an active sub, middle and top in 3 small equal sized boxes would be very easy to transport and would provide the FOH sound behind me - and there appears to be a fair amount of 'booty' on offer there. - I know an HK rep, so will be talking to him to research further. again, expensive, but here's JBL with an active sub and an active line array sat on top http://www.jblpro.com/catalog/general/Prod...FId=9&MID=4 - I like that design too as it is two smaller boxes that can be easily moved about and again, lots of power on offer for head room As mentioned before, ISP Technologies offer a wide range of active PA gear along with the behemoth that is the Vector Pro active bass cabinet. http://www.isptechnologies.com/index.php?o...3&Itemid=77 . I am due to meet up with the UK distributor some time in the next few weeks to try out the cab and talk about their other gear. As I have said, all of these ideas are VERY expensive and will be hoping to achive my desires on a reasonable budget - but I want to investigate all the avenues to see which will suit me the best, be it Acme, Barefaced, ISP, HK, Fearless - what ever! I might just end up with a behringer stack lol lol!
 12.
Child's play compared to this: http://www.sweetwaveaudio.com/sales/l-acoustics/kudo.php One could use a Kudo or two for bass, if you've got a mind to, and the price of entry.
lol! Maybe a wee bit out of my price bracket ;o) Still - at least it's in the direction of what I'd like to achieve, maybe a powered sub underneath a powered line array box.. somethong around the size of a 6x10 would be suitable!
 13. Hey mate! ;o) - Wow!! It's funny isn't it? Sometimes you find great tone in what would seem an unlikely configuration! - I absolutely love this little guitar combo over where my band writes material. It's a little Marshall box with a 8" speaker.. but set to distort a bit it sounds GREAT with my basses. I want it! lol I wouldn't mind seeing what it sounded like miked up. Talk about a short cut to gnarly bass tone ;o) Hope you are keepin' well n' everything!
 14.
Take a look at RCF 4PRO 7001 as one example. JBL, EV et al undoubtedly do similar arrayable units. Not really a bass rig though Edit: Here's a link: RCF 3way arrayable
Spooky! I was looking at that page about 30 mins ago!! Yeah - don't care if it isn't a bass rig... seems that bass gear isn't really up to the job I need it for anyway he he he he!!
 15. Here's my Jap P Bass - I simply couldn't bring myself to sell it!! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=8983
 16.

Jaw>>>>>Floor delicious!!!!
 17.
If you really know what you're doing you put the woofers on either side, the midranges just inboard of them, and the tweeters in the middle. With the proper driver spacing and crossover points you can use this arrangement to deliver very uniform dispersion across the full bandwidth of the cab, and you also can stack multiple cabs vertically for longer throw with no degradation in the quality of the sound. This level of technology is commonplace in the PA world, with prices starting around $4000 per cab, and is as far removed from the typical electric bass cab as a Bentley is from a pair of roller skates.
Who are these people and where do I find them???!!!!! ;o) I don't want to derail the OP, I seem to have spilled over a bit from my Accugroove thread - but it's making for interesting and helpful reading!
 18. Not wanting to sound defeatest or anything, but I would strongly recommend getting enrolled on an electronics course too - especially one that teaches you proper fault finding skills. I have indeed seen gear nuked by 'technicians' floundering around not knowing what they are doing.
 19. Nice one B2BM, reviews are always welcomed! I'm going to move this thread to the reviews section...
 20.
Did you try the Tecamp Puma 1000 head they have there?
I'd seen it when I arrived, but we got so engrossed with trying stuff out, sadly I only remembered it when I left at what was about 7pm I think! So, next time I will defintely give it a go!
 21.
Can't help on the AccuGroove front but can add a basic comparison between Acme Low B2s and the Barefaced Compact (as I own both). The Acmes are designed to be as flat as possible while the Barefaced is designed to be as loud as possible. Both sound superb with my Aguilar DB680/Eden WT1000 but if you're more concerned about faithful reproduction of sound, the Acmes might be better suited to you.
Ahh Thanks for the response! ;o) That's interesting and I am certainly open to hearing more stuff like this! Yes, indeed it is wanting a faithful reproduction of what is going in to the cabs, that is very true. A PA response for sure. I've been having two trains of thoughts recently and found that neither are a particularly easy shortcut to happiness. I either carry on this search for a PA like backline that I will 'model' on to with my current kit - which for this band is a far better idea - OR I cut back to finding a particular tone that works well in the band context and helps to give us more of a signature.. a one trick pony type set up. Frankly, I am far more enamoured with the former of the two plans - especially if said backline could be multi-functional, say as a monitor or a PA type thing.
I have a funny feeling though that you're going to go through every type of bass rig there is before finding someone to build you something from scratch.
That my friend has crossed my mind a few times and I have been gathering the necessary information! Like my basses, everything before Shuker has been a compromise.. I have been 'nearly happy' with everything I have owned I think.. and some amazing pieces of kit too - but I find my tastes change quickly (poor wallet) and I crave the next tone in my head. An uncoloured backline, like a blank canvas that I can paint my tones on to, would be nothing short of a miracle! - Especially if it was in one nice neat (large) box that I could plug my outboard in to and know that I had headroom and more than enough volume to take on any situation that would require it. I had a great visit to Bass Merchant yesterday thinking that I was gonna buy a new rig - and found some great gear - but interestingly it has helped my cement my ideas about what I need, as opposed to having an enormous GAS attack in a giant toy shop. That aside, I could have quite easily have bought a TC rebel head or GK MB2 500 yesterday ! SOOOOO NICE!
 22.
That's the kind of design that can only be made to work really well by using onboard DSP and amplification. It doesn't actually crossover each driver so that none of them overlap but it uses clever trickery to made sure that where output does overlap that its's phase coherent. The performance is reflected in the price! Alex
If drivers of different sizes are in one box and are crossed over correctly, then should they in theory be in a vertical line for best dispersion? I'm thinking a bit more in terms of HiFi cabinets here, but applying the same thought to bass cabinets and 'full range' cabinets.
 23.
It's better than horizontally mounted, but not as good as vertical. Scientifically speaking never use different size drivers to cover the same bandwidth. Yes, it's seen all the time... for the same reasons that 4x10s are.
So I am thinking something like this is how a cabinet should be designed! 24.
This might help: Line sources
Good grief! That's quite a site of info'. I need to go lay down!
 25.
Off to a pro methinks, and don't experimentally be using it any more.
+1million - dont even change the fuse and plug it back in... might be teaching to suck eggs here, but can't stress safety enough.
