Derek from Watford Valves always recommended Harma Diamond STR ECC83's and Jan Philips ECC82's for all my Ampeg gear. Gotta say, they are just awesome valves! Have a chat with Mr Rocco directly as he does know a bit about his valves too!

Hi everyone!! This stool makes a perfect chair for practicing, sit down gigs - or indeed it's intentional use, one of the best drum thrones on the market. Read about it here:- http://www.pearleurope.com/ProductDetails....ctName=D-2000BR
D-2000BR The D-2000BR features our top of the line Roadster Throne with a revolutionary backrest. The backrest is fully height and fore/aft adjustable, lumbar back-support offering added relief from fatigue associated with long gigs or recording sessions. The slim tear-drop shape of the backrest gives outstanding support where needed and eliminates the chance of contact between the backrest and the player’s elbows. Two Position Seat: One side provides an angled front for free leg movement and a small recessed cavity toward the back to alleviate spinal compression. Rotate it 180 degrees and the other side offers firm frontal support with a central cutaway. Four Leg Base: The base features four wide-stance legs for superb stability. Sure Struts (parallel double braced struts) provide the ultimate in structural integrity to prevent lateral wobble and the inherent squeaks that may result from it.
I've only used the throne for practicing - or as a fold away chair for my laptop table. Never gigged, never left the house. Retail price is in the region of £180 (Andertons £160, Thomann £225) - and one went recently on ebay for £150 second hand. If you come and collect, I'll let this bargain go for £100. There is no wear on the feet or chair - infact - no marks at all!! Excellent condition! - This will be great for your drummer - I've already been told that these are sought after as a quality professional throne. I no longer require it and will be happy to pass it on to someone who will make great use of it! Cheers all, Dan

Hey all! After watching too many You Tube videos I find myself gassing for a decent 'distortion preamp' - preferable MIDI controllable - there are ways around it if not MIDI as my effects unit has external controllers - but anyway, I digress. I'd originally kept an eye out for a Marshall JMP-1 - but having heard the likes of the Mesa Triaxis and ADA MP-1 - I like the more agressive tones they deal up. (That said - a JMP-1 w/tweaking could probably do similar). The Triaxis is just stupid money and is physically a very deep preamp. The ADA however, looks pretty good - and for guitar sounds lethal.. mm!!! I like. Anyaway, just looking for views and opinions. I'm gonna spend a bit of time looking through the threads at ADADEPOT too.
Why not just buy a multimeter? You can use them for 1000s of other things as well as testing batteries & a good basic one can be bought for less than a tenner.
I guess the reason is - that such a tool will be fine for those who neither know, or care what an Ampere is. They just want to know how much *ehem* 'power' is left in their battery. A meter showing them a percentage and time left will be more meaningful to them. Yep, I have a maplin one that I grabbed for a 5er that I chuck in my guitar box - and leave my expensive unit at home! I see the point over the 18v thing - I wonder if the unit can handle that?

I reckon it's a useful piece of kit - just a shame that so many stupid people post comments on You Tube.
I have one of these: http://tpro.com/prods.php?prod=DA-B3000&am...SESSID=tbompxid Works fine and has proven to be reliable so far.
I think I'd probably go for one of these if I was looking for a power amp again. The 1u size is perfect - and having so much head room available is a dream. You probably won't get near the 3KW - but it's nice to know the amp is designed to be able to handle more power than you need. How's the 610 getting on Paul? ;o)

A big THANK YOU to Basschat and Basschatters
Yes, hurrah for our fearless leader Ped.
and our very own CrazyKiwi of course - whom makes up half of the dynamic duo known as *in a scary monster voice* Thheeeeeee Aaaaaaaaadmins...... ! Yup, I'm gonna add a +1 million. When I talk to people about being a moderator on a forum, I get all sorts of funny looks from them wondering why I would do it. - usually based on their own bad experiences of spending time on other forums with members who are unfriendly, unnapproachable and in some cases downright rude. There are even one or two forums with Bass sections, where the admins themselves are elitist and sh*tty towards people who don't use one of their own products - naming no names!! - I actually feel pretty good telling them that no, it's not at all like that here. Anyway, BassChat, you are feckin' awesome! I remember when I first signed up to Bassworld 1.0 back in the day it was a warm and friendly welcome then and that same 'open door' attitude and willingness to go out of the way to help each other makes me proud to be part of the community. So thank you everyone! -
I think thats true of the earlier amps up to what ended as Tech Soundsystems, but the Puma line is a completely different amp to what came before and have heard nothing negative about them so far. I still want a Puma 1000. Anyone selling ?
I'm not sure about the Tech gear, but I understand the PUMA amps use 'Powersoft' power amplifier modules - which are very highly regarded by PA designers and enthusiasts on the internet. Having owned one of the Powersoft rack amplifers, I can vouch for it's ability and quality of sound.
Incomplete... Awaiting my QSC :brow: Better pics will be posted once I have the power amp...
I KNOW the SVP and Tec' combination sounds amazing. ;o) Nice!
I've had my Puma 500 for a good few months now and there is no noise at all from it. By the way Dood the Tecamp L610 should arrive tomorrow!!! Somebody had to do it!
Ha ha ha!!!! Hulloo matey!!! Ahhh! It had to be you!! Nice one ;o) - I'm looking forward to seeing some luscious gear porn pics online soon then!! You keepin' well?

Anyone on BassChat bag the 6x10 then? Would love to hear a review... @ MarkMcK - As I'd mentioned earlier in this thread - I always rated the Tech SoundSystems gear very highly and had a chance to try out most of the range Thomas' company were manufacturing. I actually preferred the look of the pre-face lifted Tec-Amp gear - but I am in no doubt that the new gear is as good if not better. I think the larger cab volume of the newer models will probably be of benefit over the Tech's slimmer cabinets.. I would love to hear an A/B of new and old world cabs as a comparison. Thanks for putting on such a great deal, you've made a lot of bass players very happy!

PA Cabs and a a Gator rack unit
Dood replied to john_the_bass's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Got some PA stuff to sell in the ongoing breakup of our big PA, including: Gator 2U (pretty sure it's a GR-2L) rack case - used to house a PV2600 amp and not really used all that much. In great condition, these are about £75 from GAK. £48 shipped? Wharfedale Pro LX15 (x2) and LX15B (x2). These are 4 ohm and I think rated to 800w each - I can check and confirm this. All four speakers come with vinyl covers and have never been left uncovered. In great condition, these are about 500 quid new for a pair - we would like £300 for each pair and might be able to do a deal on all four. These might have to be collected as they're heavy. We're looking for a modernish powered sub, around 800w and preferably a 15" driver and also a Kam Par Bar LED lighting thingy. If you've got either of those and want to talk, let me know. Ta
John, if you can find one - I highly recommend the EV sba760 - it is an absolute beast of a sub, despite it's diminuitive size. I'm sure there are better horn subs etc out there, but if space is a premium - it will easily embarass an equivalent power Mackie sub ;o) -
Thanks!!! Useful advice there. Cheers ;o)

I'm just intrigued to hear if anyone has done - I'm expecting there to be a low end roll off, but that's not gonna be a problem as I can just mix all the bottom in in my rig - Yup, i thought it might be an interesting addition to my rig, given the MIDI implementation. Thing is - now that they are getting rare, the prices are crawling up! Anyway, would be interested to hear what you guys have tried. Speak to ya later! Dood.

If only this advert happened a cuppla months ago!! lol ... wow - just, wow. I think this really is bargain of the century - that 6x10 ... it's almost unbearable to see it for sale at that price.. Tech/Tec really are very good!
Epifani ul610
Yes, indeed a very nice cabinet!
-
The more I use it, the more I love this cabinet! It's a beast! I've panged and messed around with all sorts of cabinets for years - but I think this one is finally fullfilling what makes a great bass cabinet. Well designed - practically bomb proof and fills the room with oodles of rich bass. I also love the fact that it is active. I have the 1KW version - and having just one smallish, powerful box and my rack with effects in is certainly a god send. The whole lot goes in the boot of my motor!

TecAmp = Brilliant. I am still a very big fan of the now discontinued Tech SoundSytems gear. (Thomas Eich's previous company name)
How would I go about bi-amping the X3? Can I send one of its outputs into the effects loop of a combo so I have a "powered monitor" on stage with me?
Yes you can. Not so much 'bi-amping' as that's something different - but the X3, like the XT have dedicated outputs that can be configured for your application. There are a set of XLR sockets for your DI to PA and a pair of 1/4" sockets for plugging straight into your amp. In the Output menu, you can choose how you have connected the amp in question. Either to the front input, or to a power amp directly. In the case of connecting to the effects of a combo, I would select the 'connect to power amp' configuration - as the effects loop is bypassing any preamp section on the combo (in *most* cases but not all).

I love Marshall! ;o) - As a teen ma mom took me to Marshall products demos etc in the region - and then surprised me one year by arranging a factory tour for me and a mate. Being an electronics geek and fanatical bass player.. this was a pretty much an unforgetable experience! I stayed in touch with one of the guys at Marshall for a while as I started customising some Marshall gear for my Bass rig at the time. ( I think I still have some of the preamp bits I messed with somewhere!!). I met Jim at one of the very first demos I attended. He was such a kind chap and was generally interested in my inane electronics babbling and ideas I wanted to share! - That's quite an achievement for anyone!! ha!! I, like no doubt countless others, felt a bit spesh, when I got to hold 'Marshall No.1' in the demo room... Yeah, i didnt care what it would have sounded like - but it was a piece of history in the making! I still own a Marshall Bass 12 and my main 'head' for a number of years was an Integrated Bass System 200W rack.

My only question for all those out there, is what is it like, on its own, for live use? >> As with any Line6 unit - when set up properly, It's really good. The X3 is a great improvement in sounds and flexibility over the XT and previous models. There's far too much to describe - so I'd suggest downloading the user manual and have a look at exactly what the system can do. Will I need a power amp to give it a bit more of a signal boost before it reaches the PA? >> No, you'd use a power amp to 'power' a speaker cabinet should you want some backline too - which could even be as little as a wedge monitor, should you so wish Or should a good PA give me a loud enough signal? >> Hmmm!!!! This is wher ethe fun comes.. Yes - in a perfect world, you will play a venue with a nice big PA with sets of subs and monitors that as a system is completely capable of supplying you with lush bass reinforcement. ..Well, in reality, down at the 'Dog and Camel', the PA monitors can only handle vocals and the 'front of house' is the speakers the DJ uses on a friday night and are shot to pieces. I only really ever need an amp as a monitor for myself on stage, and I'm not picky about my tone as long as it's relatively smooth, so it seems ideal that I can just D.I. everything to a desk and route it out of the stage monitors. >> Sounds like a plan! - Maybe see if you can pick up one of those 'kick back' style bass combos that you could use as a monitor for yourself? GK, Hartke, Ampeg all do them 'of sorts'. Or even buy a really good PA wedge monitor? Then send your POD signal straight to the PA for them to sort out. It can work really well - but I'd defintely get used to setting the unit up for the configuration you are using, as the X3 (and XT) and different modes to work in. Thinking ahead further - if you are pretty much wanting to set up and leave - and you dont use effects and the like, how about a Sansamp BDDI, Hartke Attack pedal or similar?
