1. I tested the dishwasher theory the other day for a laugh.. I can confirm it works too!
2. Oh and they must be Cryogenically treated too...
3. Do they also sell NOS Pre-CBS Kluson Mullard CIJ fuses too? I want a set so that I can have all that Mojo in my HiFi tone too.
4. I wonder if the Blacksmith will have a 'Staccato 51' voiced version out too - in red no doubt! ;o)
5. Yep, AxeFX has one or two Bass models as far as I know, but the Line6 has a greater array of amp and cabinet combinations. Interestingly, the new line 6 HD processors don't have any Bass models on board.
6. When it comes to running workshops and clinics, it always helps to be able to travel as light as possible. It has got me thinking about what gear I take with me for sessions and that sometimes I require some kind of full range amplification too. I realise the obvious answer to my question would be to just get a pair of (or one) active / powered PA cabinet, end of. That could well be what I do as the inputs would allow me to plug in my laptop to play music through as well as bass guitar. Doesn't stop me pondering over which bass cabinets would be good for audio though eh? Especially if I want to use the same gear to crank up loudly so that I can be heard over a drummer. I've already had a chit-chat with 'The Funk' about his Acme bass cabinets as I think they would be pretty ace and I hear that people have used them as PA cabs on TalkBass. What else is out there? Accugroove 1x10 / 1x12? What about EA? Barefaced?
7. Yeah, the X3 really is a nice piece of kit and it can certainly do a great deal when it is set up properly. For the money, it's definitely worth it. Yes, the AxeFX is a monster, but it does depend on how deep your pockets are, at £1600 it's unreachable for some people in comparison to the price of the feature rich X3 Live. Ultimately you need to ask yourself what you actually need from an effects unit - For me, the ability to record with the unit was a total winner, especially as you can do a lot of 're-amping' techniques on board without any other gear. Brilliant. Do it!
8.
Hi guys, thanks for the recommendations of the pedals, but the problem with me is if i get one pedal, it'll lead to 2, to 3, to 4 and so on and i don't want to go using pedals as I prefer my rack setup. I may have got one sorted as long as i can get the money together (and a bigger rack case) but other recommendations are still welcome
In that case, the TC C300 is the equivalent to the pedal with more features. I've recommended it on other compressor threads before with more details.

10. A pedal that will be of interest is the TC Electronic Nova Dynamics. It has 4 compressors and two noisegates and you can pick 'em up for about 100 quid. I have one and it's brilliant! Also love the Multicomp.
11. I think it's worth noting that Rotosound have upped their game since the 'facelift', where they invested in new machines and added new strings to the line. I think they themselves would admit that they had some QC issues in the past - but I can't remember the last time I had a dodgy string from them. If you do have a problem with their strings - then get a replacement from the retailer and if that doesn't work for you, give Rotosound themselves a bell! I've spoken to Jason about Rotosound products and he's always happy to listen and chat.
12.
Oh and something else I learned that day - TC Electronics 2x10's are seriously loud... and I rock so much I break lightbulbs! lol
I heard the bulb hit the floor... hmmm, had to be you really!!!!
13. Hey all!! What a fantastic day! Great to meet some new 'chatters and to put some forum IDs to faces! I've just uploaded all the 'good' pics that were taken with my camera. There's a few that didn't come out too well, so sorry.. I've left those out! Some real highlights of the day and some GREAT bass chats going on around the room! Andy 'Alien' playing 'Enter Sandman' on the NS upright whilst Steve 'Stag' gave the rock horns was a true moment to behold! - Yes, I admit, that was me trying to slap and tap the NS too... Somethings, as peverse as they may seem, just have to be tried!! (Actresses and Bishops, etc etc) Well done Charic for arranging the venue and sorting tea and biccies - you can't lose with 'tea and coffee making facilities' - but you can lose with trying to get a free dinner eh??? ;o) Comedy gold!
14.
My mum and i have been after a PGM300 (The non trem one) for two years for my brothers 21st! Another year too go haha
Very cool - actually my favourite guitar! Like this: That actually is Paul Gilbert's very own well used, well battered PGM300 series I am lovingly pawwing! I'd LOVE that guitar! /sorry off topic!
15.
You sir should be disgraced with yourself I'm going to make my apologies for the lack of organisation now rather than later. I have decided this is almost to be a "dry run" and may try putting on a new and improved version in maybe 6months or so time. Especially as I already have interest from some people I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. Rik
Rik, I think you've done a grand job! I think we're gonna have a great day!
16. Amongst my favourites would be: Paul Gilbert and John Pettrucci... yes, I know, I know.. but actually their playing style and approach to their instruments has been a huge influence on me and my playing. Their strings are just thinner ha ha!
17.
If the East Anglia bash happens, and we both get there, you are welcome to try mine! Sorry Jack, no soundclips yet. I'll see if I can persuade the young master to record a couple while he and the firepod are in the house. There are some interviews with VB-99 users on the Roland website www.rolandus/community/insider but they're a bit heavy on waffle and a bit light on actual soundclips.
Trigger pulled! - I read enough reviews to hopefully give me an idea what to expect then stumped up the wonger for a 6 string set of DR's. They arrived today and I'm having a bit of a play. They sound pretty good so far - not to mention looking pretty funky! I went for Peacock Blue to go with my Shuker's flip paint finish.
18.
I'm still coming too
Awesome! - I'll try to get down so that I can help you set up - I'm picking up Stag and BassCat too on the way.
19. Out of interest, is anyone coming along with an ACME cabinet? Just intrigued to try one out again!
20. Yup, +1 here - I've bought many a valve from Derek Rocco. - Similar experiences too, as we ended up having a very long conversation about tubey goodness! - If his select valves are good enough for Mr May, then that's an endorsement I can live with!
21. For those who may have missed the long running sticky, full details are here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...t=0&start=0 Please come along and get involved!
