1.
I'll double what Andy said Dan . I've got a pair of Epifani 210 UL's if you want them on a borrow until your new cabs arrive
I'm genuinely touched by all the kind offers! Thanks Paul! Ok, so the BT2 is definitely for sale then! With official Barefaced cover and hopefully I can get enough funds together for the FR love! Collect it this weekend if you like, right now even ha ha!! This is one hell of a cabinet!
  2. I'm listening for a second time now and am really enjoying picking through all the sounds! - Loving that P Bass sound - That's the Roland?? Really? I also have massive GAS for a fretless .. and the fretless synth too. And a Vigier And the Roland Dammit!
  3.
Bromance ? Kissy kissy :-)
If you met Andy, for sure! I have a lot to thank him for. He's a really good guy.
  4.
You know where you can borrow cabs in the interim matey. Errr, that's from me just in case I was being a bit oblique... X
Thank you x

    Line 6 Helix.

Did I miss the post where we were told that Helix can drive a power amp directly?
  6. The harsh realities of wanting one item means that the opportunity cost is that another thing I love has to go to reach the desired financial threshold to purchase. I am hoping that I can get a pair of Barefaced FR800 cabinets (essentially splitting my BT2 in two halves) which would be ideal for my new band. Of course there is often a catch that I am trying to work around. I need the BT2 for gigs, but I can't receive the FR's until I've paid for them. No cabs, Dood looks silly not being able to gig. So, at this point, I am trying to figure out what to do, but the BT2 is up for sale as long as I can work something out with the FR's. I'd say it is immaculate and it comes with the official Barefaced protective cover. I would absolutely not sell the BT2 if I could afford to keep it. I am however a professional musician and that translates to being a pauper most of the time ha! Shipping could prove difficult owing to the size of the cabinet, but I'd favour collection anyway with a view to travel for fuel money within a reasonable distance. All the details here: http://barefacedbass.../Big-Twin-2.htm And a great big picture to boot: P.S. The minute I sniff a chance of keeping this, I'll withdraw.
  7.
Dood - you have a reliable little birdy! I got an email last night from Gear4Music saying that delivery of the B3n had been delayed! So I called them this morning to explain I had only paid them a £25 premium over Thomann as they said they had it in stock. They were really good about it and have price matched Thomann and will chase up their supplier for me.
I've not heard that the UK distributor even has them yet, but that said, I've not asked recently..lol... I do know, as JimFist has rightly pointed out, the US do have theirs shipping.
  8. You may remember my previous Deacon Bass incarnation HERE . Apologies for the missing pictures. I seem to have deleted them by mistake. I will see what I can do about reinstating those. Sadly the Bass in question found a new home. I would dearly love to buy it back, but alas being a Dad again means that I am mainly selling things these days. Still, an opportunity arose to do another version for a reasonable price so I thought I'd make a thread about it. The first version as you will have seen was the 1986 onward era where John Deacon appeared with his nice shiny P Bass with a black finish and gold hardware. Very tasty indeed! Deaconification Mk1 was a close replication of the bass (yeah, I know I should have fitted the Schaller 3D bridge in the end!) in question. So, here goes. In the latter part of the 70's and I don't have an exact date, John Deacon removed the sunburst finish from his two main Precision basses. His 'main instrument' had a 70's TV logo (I believe it was called) and that is the one (and the look) I am copying. A bit of a Wetton thing going on too! Here's a few pictures of the man himself: And shortly I will be posting some pictures of my own MkII all complete!
  9.
Or one of these...
Ah yes! ha ha! I forgot about the Hamm bass!
  10.
A P bass with Jazz pickups, with a suitably-placed thumb-rest?
Or a dummy P set of covers fitted in place. everyone will think it's a cool J-P-J hybrid too!
  11.
Well, I can't afford the RS cabs, so I just pulled the trigger on a K-410 + K-115. Should hopefully be a perfect match with my BH550. Will pop up a couple of pics of the full rig when they arrive, hopefully early next week.
Makes a nice rumble, I can tell you that! I reviewed all the cabinets and that particular combination was pretty nice!
  12.
I know a fair bit of theory, but I don't know what it is I don't know. As for the rest, yes I guess that's what I want to learn. I'm an analytical person when it comes to a lot of things. I'm an engineer by trade. So, I guess that is what I want to learn. I guess what I need is a good chat with a good teacher to discuss the next stage. IME as soon as I say "I'm not in a band" most tutors are dead in the water.
Any teacher worth their salt would have no problem with this. Plenty of my students have no aspiration to play in a band. Not inclined or simply wouldn't have the time to devote to it. They get the same 110% from me every lesson.
  13.
I've been to 3 tutors and I guess I've been unfortunate. With the exception of picking up a few practice techniques and learning the bass line in a small selection of numbers I didn't gain a lot. My reason for finding a tutor has always been, at times when I've felt I was hitting a wall. I was hoping to find a new sense of direction. It never happened. In fairness, I'm not in a band and have little chance if being in a position to have time available to commit to a band. One "tutor" even told me that unless you can hold a position of 1 finger per fret in the first position, with all fingers firm on the fingerboard, thumb in the centre of the back, in relative comfort, you may as well give up. That was the message at the first lesson. I was 53 FFS. My fingers weren't equipped for that stretch without working at it. I gave him up and kept the bass. Other tutors have always started each lesson with the immortal question, "well, what do you want to learn?" Answer: "I don't know. If I did I wouldn't be here." So, I stick at it and sight read. I know, I'm odd.
Oh my. I feel for you! Your first tutor isn't a tutor. My eldest student is 73 and I have taught students who, for example, fell off a motorbike one to many times and that affected their playing position. Hasn't stopped them from progressing well and enjoying playing the instrument! My youngest students are around the age of 9 and in some cases the guitar is huge. Doesn't stop us from being able to play some songs together though. Theory is easy when a teacher knows how to make learning fun too. The other tutors you mention, for whatever reason, have asked the wrong questions. I don't know why that may be. Having a 'curriculum', or being able to pull on progressive teaching material is very important, but knowing how to teach it is paramount. Knowing how to ask the student what their aspirations are will be very helpful, especially if you know how to guide them. i.e. If they are unsure what they 'want to learn'.
  14. P.S, as for condition, well, it'd be the same as posting a picture of a new cabinet
  15. One cabinet sale pending already to a nice chap called Giulio! One left, get it whilst it is still here! Pm's answered.
  16. I've seen the make, but I can't put a name to it right now, sorry. Whilst talking about different ways to mount controls, it reminds me of Maverick Guitars. I really liked the way the controls are flush with the body here: The pots are just standard ones but fitted to a 90 degree metal bracket inside the compartment.
  17. TC Sub n' Up! Did I say that already? I'm sure I recommended it somewhere.
  18. I'm based just south of Norwich. A little bit of travel is a possibility for fuel money. No covers to sell with these I'm afraid.
  19. Price to be arranged, sale due to clear out of gear for new band needs. Pictures to come, collection more welcome than posting and will deal in favour of collection. All details here with regard to new price and specifications. 20.
Superseded the BC series didn't they? If I didn't already have a BC-212 I'd probably have a whatever the current K series 2x12 is.
I'd say no, they are a completely different design and sound.
  21. p.s, very good for the money.
  22.
It's nearly new cab time, and I'm looking seriously at the K-series. Anyone using them? Thoughts? Impressions?
Very nice cabinets. They are considered a bit more HiFi than say the RS cabinets that have a more mid focus in comparison. The equivalent size cabinets (2x12 for example) goes a little lower and the top end is more sparkly due to the separate tweeter unit. That's not to say the RS cabinets can't do good lows and tops, just a different kind.
  23.
Tecamp XS 1X12 Blackface £300 Ladies less than 12kgs. 25lbs in weight
Is that what you are looking to trade for? (I know, I know - but it's the first thing to make me crack a smile today, so I thank you for lifting a rubbish day)
  24.
1982 Talas - Sink your teeth into that... my jaw dropped when I heard it.
I've that bad boy on vinyl!
