Yeah, I guess that making it all up will tot up the price. They have some plate amps which come all set up. I have tried one on a BF FR and it certainly delivered. I remember that amp and it is what was kind of making me think out loud. The Hypex PSC2.400 which features 4 fully programmable DSP memories are 275 Euros excl Vat. They are discontinued. Someone tell me why I should not do this.

wo 400W UcD amplifiers
Powered by SMPS400
Four programmable presets
Balanced audio input
Balanced audio through loop
Powercon power connection
Two channel active filtering
Fully user-configurable DSP filters
Firmware update by USB

https://www.hypexsho...t?detailID=3400
It's exactly where I'd go for an amplifier module. Or a Powersoft module for example.. The only reason why I haven't done it so far is due to the reasons above (BeerOfTheBass) that slightly (hugely) outweigh the likelihood of me making a dog's dinner of crafting an enclosure! I just don't have the right tools. I do love the idea of onboard DSP though, especially when it can work in tandem with the speaker enclosure connected. The Bergantino B|Amp or Barefaced's FR800 powered cabinets are a good example of this.
Yes, the H2 has two front and two front mics (one set at 90 and another at 120 degrees) but I have not tried the quad mode and see how it sounds through the headphone output. I haven't tried the set up yet (it's actually going to be slightly different: different mixer and earphones, and bringing signal in from either main desk or tapping one or two monitors directly onstage). The H2 will likely be close to me, at the back, probably high and behind the drummer, so I didn't think of the quad mode as I'll just be using one pair of mics.
Thank you! I'm going to try out a stereo system this evening, if that works well I will definitely want to try out the 4 to get an 'all round' mix. I haven't decided on mic placement yet but I'll just see if the theory works in this band environment.
I will take that as a no then. I am genuinely interested in whether this is a stupid idea or not.
Alien did that for another BassChatter and the results were very good. It was a while ago and I've certainly thought about doing that with one of their latest gen amplifiers that from a geek perspective are ace!

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10881008/BassPitch.mp3 Ok, so I should be working right now, but I dropped down the quickest, messiest groove for you with similar settings with a Low D in there. The pedal seems to hide what it can't do, but all the other notes are definitely in there!
-
oh, p.s - the two pitches right at the end that sound wobbly (after the clicks I inserted) are Eb and D

Something like this you mean? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10881008/BassPitch%20and%20Bass%20Chorus.mp3 The pitch is set at 75% wet so there's very little dry signal coming through and there's also a smidge of chorus in there too. The reality of pitch that low is that Analogue pedals won't do it. Digital (DSP) pedals can, but there's a caveat. Analogue sounds great but it tends not to track so low. DSP goes low, but in order to do it, the DSP needs more waveform to process (because lower frequencies have a longer waveform) so what you can end up with, is a small delay time before the octave down pitch comes out. The longer the delay, the less likely you were going to suffer from glitching as the processor can sample the waveform better. I had a TC processor that allowed the changing of the pitch processing time and that demonstrated the issue clearly. I wouldn't have that much wet octave in my sound and thus the dry signal would more than mask that delay. This clip isn't indicative of the sound I would set up, because I'd also add some EQ to the octave down if I could and what you are hearing here is a bass with no EQ, no amp, no compression, just straight in to the interface. p.s. you won't hear this well on laptop speakers or earbud earphones.
I cheated dude Thats Plasti-Kote white primer , then 5 coats of Hycote Lacquer The pickups have already receievd the same treatment. Bridge is next
That's not cheating, that's a tidy bit of work right there! I look forward to seeing them on the bass!

I'd be interested in responses too on this subject. I loved my Mission based cinema system but it had to go when the little one came along. Well, not so much little ones, maybe significant other didn't want them in the front room lol.
I'm now thinking of trying that myself! Using this: using the Zoom H2 for ambient sound, and the OmniCabSim for bass sound, mixed with that little but pretty versatile mixer. I was checking the H2 the other day in my office (I had the bass at work, and the H2 lives in the gig bag)... It was very interesting to set the gain switch to "High"... I could hear when people were opening doors down the corridor because the whirring noise of the equipment fans in the room... and I could hear conversations quite clearly next door that normally you could not make out... Obviously I'd want the gain set 'LOW' during a gig, as I do for recordings during rehearsal, but that was pretty cool. They're decent little microphones, those in the Zoom units, eh?
I've only just found out the H2N has 4 mics for surround sound. Does the H2? If it does can you get a sum of all through the headphone jack? So possible to pick up sound in front of and behind the device?
Kerching !
Now that's nice Looks like I need a bass to go with them now!
If a bass does experience neck dive can you not remedy the situation by just moving the rear strap button up a bit?
Like balancing a seesaw, It's usually the neck button that needs to move further toward or up the neck. The latter in most cases of course is not possible unless you put a button on the back of the neck itself.
-
Same, never knowingly experienced it, but I'm also failing to see the issue? The headstock falls towards the floor when you're not holding the neck? I can't think of a time when I'd be playing and not holding the neck?
You're holding the neck up as you play you mean? From a technique point of view that's something I try to 'unteach' my students. Your fingers and thumb should only be dealing with fretting notes, not supporting the neck as well. Apologies if I've misunderstood what you are trying to say, but neck dive and the way people have to stop it (holding the neck or using the right arm to weigh the body down) is counterproductive. A very well balanced instrument is a joy to play in comparison Even better when it doesn't weigh a ton either.
Why not try for a crowd funded start-up and go for it? I've been busting to use the word niche in a conversation as it is one of the current buzz words and that idea is well niche man! Thanks for the opening. Heeheehee By the way, you raise a good point there. I remember seeing a Honda 400/4 resto with white header pipes. With a colour matched paint scheme it was something special. I doubt it would look too good after a blast on salty Winter roads though.

Limited numbers... but it's easy enough to do. Blast the coating off existing hardware and powder coat. Hipshot would probably send you a bridge uncoated cos they seem awfully nice chaps.

Someone wanted one the other day and I suggested that but afterwards I replied thinking actually powder coat might be too thick, it's not great on anything detailed like saddles, Also it's quite soft so saddle screws would sink into it even if you just did the main part?
NIche! He he! Ace, glad I can help! I guess in the part areas that are problematic, you could have chrome or black saddles on a white base plate? A bit like those Wilkinson bridges that come in black or chrome but have brass saddles. Must be a way to do it... Hmmmm

It's an interesting one. The speaker is an 8 Ohm unit. The amplifier will output 507W RMS in to 4 ohms. Therefore, you will need two of those cabinets to get 507W from the amp. The rating they are giving is if the RM C112T was also connected to an extension cabinet.

Which one was the hardest song you have learned and why?
When Doves Cry - can't find a decent recording of it anywhere...
I was thinking about wheeling that one out again lol -
White hardware. Why doesn't anyone make White hardware. I expect it will be expensive, but it's the only obvious colour that I think is missing.

Daddario Flexsteels - question about flexibility/feel of these
Dood replied to markdavid's topic in Accessories and Misc
have heard it from a few sources, maybe Daddario can confirm if this is true or not (i know they are active on this forum)

You are correct, they have been discontinued. Queen. I grew up being totally engrossed by Brian May's guitar playing. I suppose that was the band I heard the most despite being exposed to such a wide range of music as a kid. Everything from The Everly Brothers to Iron Maiden, The Damned, Glen Cambell to Jeff Wayne. Then there was that other guy playing an instrument that looked like it'd far better fit me..and it sounded cool... really cool.. When humming a tune, it was always the Bass line I gravitated to. I'd never remember lyrics but I could easily pick out a Bass line when others couldn't. This is certainly the video that changed it for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjsTwqPW-p0 I recorded the televised version and as a teen proceeded to learn every note of the gig, even the wrong ones.
This is amazingly still for sale and I am open for a bit of a deal. I will be at the Birmingham guitar show this weekend and could bring it if you are planning to be there or live nearby, and I will definitely have it with me at the London Bass Show.....
I'll come hang out with you at LBGS and have a listen if you have it set up! Zero budget for toys, but I've wanted to hear one of these for ages!
Many will offer a downloadable template, which does kind of work if you set up your printer correctly.
Funny you should mention that as I'd done just that this morning before I popped over to BassChat. NorthWest Guitars in this case who I have purchased from before and had great service.

Of the pickguard makers advertising, how can I be sure that the types they make are exact versions for the instrument required? Or, to put it another way, who can confidently say that they will do a version of say a US Precision plate where the screws are in exactly the right place? I know that said plate does fit one of my instruments and the screw holes line up. I'd be cheesed off if I bought a new plate (in say a non-standard colour) only to find that, having been advertised as a certain type, that it wasn't a correct fit for one reason or another.

My solution, as your GK is a capable amp, would be to add a second 2x10 cabinet, or even a 4x10 to the mix. This would serve well to get the volume up better than adding more amplifiers. Having one of each would mean you could have a 2x10, a 4x10 or a 6x10 configuration for all eventualities. That said, I'm a massive fan of IEMs, so going that route is also very favourable, especially as you'll be able to keep the levels much lower in your lug-oles
