  1. The necks on these are less of a handful than the L`s. Nice bass!
  2. Here is what happened to us in a similar situation. Our female singer in our acdc tribute band gave us notice she was leaving. She was a decent singer, popular with the punters but boy was she hard work. Anyway, we tried out a few but the one who seemed the best vocally wasn`t really a big fan of the band and had trouble remembering the words and song structures for a good while but was a super nice person so she joined. Then everything went on hold for you know what. After everything got back to normal and we all got together again, our singer had learned the songs and had turned into a great front person for the band. Punters who have seen both versions of the band told us that they liked our new singer better and she was a much nicer person. So taking a chance on someone worked out for us in the end and we couldn`t be happier.
  3. Calling @DGBass The man knows Ashdowns inside out and may have an idea? Sorry for putting you on the spot Will
  4. They made an active 5 string for Nathan King a few years back to thank him for doing the Andertons video`s. Here he is playing it.
  5. When our guitarist buggered off he took along with him his pa and his controlling ways, so don`t slam the door on the way oot. Now we have a Behringher mixer and all the cables and need a set of active speakers. We sometimes have a provided pa when we do larger venues so it`s mostly for your average sized pubs that need them for. Budget isn`t great, around £800, maybe £900 so we are looking at Alto TS, Yamaha DBR or EV ZLX, all seem like decent budget speakers. The question is do we go with 10`s or 12`s? There will more than likely just a bit of kick drum and vocals going through them. Space for storage at home and for transporting is tight so I`m moving towards the Yam DBR 10`s which seem like a popular choice at £375 or I can get the Alto TS 412 for the same price but are of course a good bit bigger and heavier. What do you guys reckon? Better to have a larger speaker in case we need to do a bigger hall or would the Yamaha`s do for vocals and kick in your average pub? This has been doing me head in for weeks and I need some real world experience. Ta
  6. It`s always amazed me that Ibanez don`t re do some of the older models, I mean Fender have been doing it for decades! But maybe the only ones who would buy them would be sad gits on bass forums
  7. Forgot about this. Weight is 4.2 kg or 9.2 lbs Now £80 collected/local meet up.
  8. For sale only a Harley Benton PJ-4 SBK Deluxe Bass Guitar. Bought a couple of months ago to use as a back up but now not required. These sell for £132 delivered but I will take £85 collected from Paisley or local meet up. The bass is in vgc and has had a better set of strings fitted. Specs Body: Basswood Bolt-on neck: Maple Fingerboard: Roseacer Dot fretboard inlays Neck profile: modern C Double-Action truss rod Nut width: 42 mm Scale: 864 mm Frets: 20 Pickups: J-style single coil (bridge) and P-style split coil (middle) 2 Volume controls 1 Tone control Black hardware PJ-style machine heads Original strings: .045 - .105 Colour: Matte Black
  9. At the moment I use: Ashdown ABM 500 EVO 3 ABM Mini 15 ABM Mini 4 x 8 All the above acquired from @DGBass of this parish. To be honest, the 4 x 8 is blooming heavy and not any good for my band on it`s own, it really needs to be paired with the 15 so in the future I am going to look for a 1 cab solution. Round and round we go... I also have a RCF 715 that can be used for monitoring or on it`s own for small pub gigs.
  10. The Harley Benton PJ 4 SBK Deluxe is a great bass at £132 delivered. Just a few sharp fret ends but the one I got plays great and the satin black finish is really nice.
  11. At the moment I`m gassing for a Epi T bird vintage pro. Even though I have owned a few T birds in the past and I`m not keen on the way they hang on me. But just got a smallish tax rebate and they look so damm cool so maybe I will give into temptation!
  12. I`m glad you found some replacements as I tried to order a tuner from their online shop only to discover they don`t ship to the UK due to us not being in the EU. I had to order it through the UK importer, then I had to wait until they were getting a shipment of basses as they wouldn`t order the part on it`s own. Madness!
  13. This is the one I have. Also great to plug into a FRFR speaker set up.
  14. If you plug in a ART mic pre amp or similar, this will drive the amp, runs on a wall wart so plenty of oomph. I had a Crown and had the same issue with a pre amp pedal, might have been the MXR and it couldn`t drive the Crown even on the lower setting you mention. I already had the ART and it worked a treat.
  15. What a stupid question to ask
  16. Up for sale only is my Fallout Tribute short scale bass in white in vgc. It`s a bit of a weird one this as even though it`s a short scale, it`s only a wee bit shorter length wise than a 34" bass. But it a great sounding bass, passive with a vol and tone and 3 position switch with parallel, single coil and OMG settings. Weight wise, it`s bang on 4 kg or 8.8 lbs. I would prefer collection or localish meet up but I have a box if you want to arrange a courier and any insurance.
  17. I have played with the same drummer since 2017 and it`s always been very natural, I have never had to try and lock in with him, it just happens. I guess it helps that he really knows what he is doing and is very good. But don`t tell him I said that!
  18. You are correct! Putting it on hold just now to consider other options.
  19. Simon bought an amp from me, top fella and super easy to deal with. Thanks!
  20. Bump for a Fender for the price of some Squiers! The world has gone mad
  21. Re the Blondie comments. Have you ever played a gig sometimes and you think that your band played below par yet the punters loved it? I have always maintained that most musicians who play gigs, listen to live music differently to your normal non muso punter. We can be very critical about ourselves and others as our singer never fails to tell us! I sometimes yearn for the days when the experience of being at an event and listening to a great band was all that I cared about. But Blondie should defo knock it on the head!
  22. Just a wee tip if you are sending gear back. I always take plenty of photo`s of the product, then of it back in the box and the box itself. Might not do any good if an issue comes up but it might help.
  23. Just watched the Pretenders on the i player and really enjoyed it. Their recent single, Let the sun come in was great and Johnny Marr is the coolest guy in music. Sod playing bass on that gig, as you look to your right there is Macca watching you
